  1. I haven't tried anywhere yet. I just got the gun today and I am not from Chattanooga so I don't know all the clubs. But thanks! I will give them a call.
  2. I just got a new shotgun because I want to try my hand at sport shooting. I have shot skeet and trap before, but I am not sure which I prefer yet. Can anybody suggest a good place around Chattanooga that I can go try either of these relatively cheap? Thanks, Rebtl
  3. Kevo, Sounds Good, I'll look for your PM. Medipedicman, I wish I could come see your LCP but my parents are coming in to town for the afternoon so I won't be getting to the range today.
  4. I am thinking about buying a Glock 19, but I have never shot a glock before and I figure I ought to before buying one since everybody seems to either love them or hate them. So anybody in the Chattanooga area want to meet up for a shoot and possibly let me shoot your Glock 19? I have my own ammo and a Kahr CW-9 that you are certainly welcome to test drive. (Sorry if this is rude for asking, but I go to college in Chattanooga and don't know a lot of gun owners since this isn't my home town) I am looking to go Sunday afternoon the 24th or anytime Monday the 25th. (or any time after that) Thanks, Lucas
  5. As it is with all gun owners and brand loyal customers. I know what you mean though, I am going to start doing my research
  6. Sorry I didn't really understand that from the description Garufa gave. Thats good to know and makes me want to consider it. Rebtl
  7. Thanks for the advice Garufa, I definitely do want a real Colt A1, but I think that dream will have to wait. The funds of a college student definitely don't work there. However, I am really liking the look of the Springfield GI or Springfield Mil-Spec. I am going to keep my eye out for one of those. The Colt reproduction is probably the last one I would choose. If I am going to buy the original, I want the original. If I am going to buy something cheaper to shoot, then I will get something cheaper. A price in the middle for neither doesn't do much for me. Rebtl
  8. Thanks for the responses guys. I actually was talking about getting a "United States Property" Colt 1911A1. I assume when you say "premium price you mean $1500 plus or more, but I will look at some of those places. If that is the case, then no I probably can't afford one. Yall already mentioned a couple, but which guns are known to be the most rugged reliable, GI 1911's. Thanks, Rebtl
  9. I am a complete 1911 newbie. Sure I ooh and aah over all the pictures around here, but I don't know them inside and out a like a lot of people, so please forgive me for an ignorant question. How hard is it to get a real, plain, all steel, GI, military issue 1911? Plain and original. Also, How much should I expect to pay for such a gun? Thanks for any advice Rebtl
  10. I was going to start a new thread about this but since we are already talking about GI 1911's: I am a complete 1911 newbie. Sure I ooh and aah over all the pictures around here, but I don't know them inside and out a like a lot of people, so please forgive me for an ignorant question. How hard is it to get a real, plain, all steel, GI, military issue 1911? Just as the OP described. Plain and original. Also, How much should I expect to pay for such a gun? (Sorry if I hijacked our thread) Thanks for any advice Rebtl
  11. Thanks for all the responses guys. I could probably be more careful about wiping it off after handling with a light oil rag. I will look into some of those moisture sheets.
  12. I am having an issue with a couple of my guns constantly getting little specs of rust on them. I have an old model Marlin Model 60 and my brand new Kahr CW-9 everytime I put either of them away for more than a couple of days they get tiny traces on rust on them. The Marlin on the outside of the barrel and tube. The Kahr on the slide. I guess my house is just damp? What can I do to keep this from happening? I clean the guns regularly and after I shoot them but it still happens. I have tried keeping them in factory case, in my sock drawer, and several other places. Nothing changes. I am also having trouble getting some of the spots off the Kahr. I let it sit with a good amount of oil on it and rubbed with a terry cloth for a good while and it didn't help much. I feel horrible I have let this happen to my beautiful new pistol but I don't know what to do, or what I could have done different. I have a Walther P22 with gun-metal slide and it has never had this problem and I have had it here in the house over a year, whereas the Marlin and Kahr are new. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks, Rebtl
  13. You, and people like you are the reason America and our Freedoms are going to hell in a hand basket. I like that Obama/Joker picture you have in your sig. Do you happen to know what website actually started those viral pictures? It was Infowars.com They ran a contest to see who could design the best one. The Obama as Joker Contest: Entries Of course that site is run by revolutionaries who want to return our country to the rights the Framers and the constitution granted us. I am sure it wouldn't meet your high standards of approval for the Amerikan Police State that you seem to like so much. You should read about the history of the Gestapo and the SS sometime. They were big on not worrying about peoples rights so they could "Protect The Motherland" and "Public Good" and all of that great Orwellian rhetoric you seem to like to throw around. You can lay down and take the police state if you want. I don't intend to.
  14. Do they ever! Too bad the community or at least the school paper never says a word about it that I have seen. (aside from campus crime log lol)
  15. I'm going to give you to the count of ten to get your ugly, yellow, no-good kiester off my property before I pump your guts full of lead. 1....2...10! Great Vid
  16. Are you an idiot? Here is a list of 13 Supreme Court Cases outlining the legal standing of "Privacy" in this country. Maybe that will clean things up for you a bit. Though I doubt it based on several of the responses you have posted on this thread. If you are not operating a vehicle, or something else that requires license or identification then you have absolutely ZERO obligation to show them any type of identification. EDIT: Thanks flyinglowwithheat for that great piece. I would say that at the beginning of the story, before the LEO got his panties in a bundle the situation definitely qualified as the first option. 1. 1. Consensual At any time, a police officer may approach a person and ask questions. The objective may simply be a friendly conversation; however, the officer also may suspect involvement in a crime, but lack “specific and articulable facts†[3] that would justify a detention or arrest, and hope to obtain these facts from the questioning. The person approached is not required to identify himself or answer any other questions, and may leave at any time. 4] Police are not usually required to tell a person that she is free to decline to answer questions and go about her business; [5] however, a person can usually determine whether the interaction is consensual by asking, “Am I free to go?†[6] [7]
  17. I hadn't thought about that at all. I completely agree those things are beasts. I will look into it. Though I was kind of going for something that I could slip into my pocket.
  18. Yea I'll give you Memphis on that one, but doesn't make me feel any better around here. I don't know about folks from Atlanta, just folks from the wrong side of 24.
  19. +100 for that. A coupe of friends on mine, one of whom is a very big guy, got robbed at gun point right outside the door of their dorm building last year.
  20. I just googled the c2 taser and it looks awesome but I can really afford 300 bucks for one right now, (heck thats a great start on a new gun). Maybe its worth the investment though. there will always be times when I can't carry
  21. Good point I hadn't even thought about a baton but I will look into that.
  22. I am a college student and I spend a lot of time on campus (obviously) where I cannot carry. These days a pocket knife just doesn't bring enough peace of mind for those walks back from the library late at night. (I live in a neighborhood just off campus.) Anybody have suggestions for other things I could carry on campus? I have been thinking about a taser but I don't even know where to start. I am not big on pepper spray/mace because you have to hit them in the face for a really good effect (what if I can't aim it at their face at the time?). Not to mention having to breathe that stuff myself in a close quarters situation. Thanks for any tips or advice, Rebtl
  23. Thanks for the advice guys, like Warren said, I have figured out that a side by side is not the way to go. Thanks for the advice on the Stoeger krunch, that pretty much sounds like exactly what I need. I don't know anything about the Stoeger company though. What kind of reputation do they have? I am kind of looking for something that is going to last me a long time. Rebtl
  24. Hey mrmoe, Thanks for all the advice! Your point about the side by side is well taken. I have been reading online since I posted my question and I completely understand what you mean. It seems an nice semi auto is the way to go for entry level shooters without a lot of cash. I think the sporting range in Chat is called Prairie or something like that. I have never been there yet but saw a flyer for the place.
