  1. Not to derail this thread, but the incident about a sled almost shooting itself down. It brought back a memory of Dick Stratton, USN Vietnam POW. He was an A-4 driver and he shot himself down. Getting captured is always a bad thing. But shooting yourself down and being a POW for over 6 years was rough. He did have a sense of humor about it though.
  2. I did this today, using a ringtone from youtube. hopefully this will cull the heard so to speak.
  3. I will be doing this... I get that phone call several times a week plus many others. I too don't answer any phone that I don't recognize the call number. But these clowns fill up my answering machine.
  4. My thoughts exactly.
  5. I was relegated to helo's in the Navy. No go fast for us, but when the go fasters went down they always looked for us.
  6. Merry Christmas. Thanks to those who put this together.
  7. Yes, yes you should. I will dig out more from my 20 years in the Navy also.
  8. I think we have the answer to that question....
  9. Fitty, another thought provoking and common sense video. Sadly you are in the minority (with the rest of us) that try to use objective logic to understand the sequence of events. This country is going nuts faster than we can blink.

jpx2fk makes an excellent point. As I have said I have been riding for more than a few years. I will gladly partake of a tasty adult beverage when ALL the riding is done for the day. Bar hopping and riding is a recipe for disaster.

Mustang makes good replacement seats. Another add on that may interest you is a louder horn. A few years ago I added a Mini beast air horn. Idiots hear me now and I am not afraid to use it. LOL Take your time and enjoy your ride. Don't be afraid to not rush or push yourself.
  12. No. I would have loved to walk that beach and scale that mountain. We sailed by it and moved on. Just part of the joys of Navy life. There is an imaginary box in an ocean that we must patrol.

BigK, hit the nail on the head for me. I enjoy group rides with people I know. I ride off to Texas every year to meet up with some good folks to ride the Texas Hill Country. Another group I have been riding with meets up every June and I enjoy riding with them also. However I am very cautious about riding with people that I have no idea of their riding skill sets. I also make a lot of miles each day and that doesn't sit well with many folks which also prompts me to ride alone. As such I spend most of my saddle time alone and enjoy the heck out of it. My wife rides some as well, but alas parenthood has taken its toll. Our 9 y/o son gets our attention and our time. Sadly the bikes sit idle on the trickle charger for way too long.
  14. The Mighty Mo is decommissioned and is a floating museum at Pearl Harbor. No 16 in guns on the active inventory these days.

My bike that I treat as a cross country touring model. I have ridden it cross country several times. I am usually an 800+ mile day sort of rider. This is in South Dakota a few years ago. That's my Springer
  16. On my 2nd deployment in my first command, HS-14, onboard the USS Ranger (CV-61) we had one of our helos, a SH-3H Sea King, land on the USS Missouri (BB-63) due to MGB chip lights. She steamed along side to hop our broken helo over back to the Ranger. And she put on a little show.
  17. From 97 to 2000 I was a SERE instructor and on our off or down week ends we would work with and train Scouts, Sea Cadets, etc. That's me doing the game demo for Scout parents.
  18. On my 96 deployment onboard the same Frigate, the USS Crommelin (FFG-37) we got supplies via vert-rep from this goofy little helo. The Kamen K-Max. They were doing sea trials on it.
  19. I did two tours in the HSL, Helicopter Antisubmarine-Light, community. When we deployed we would take certain liberties painting.
  20. Heres a few I have scanned recently. Iwo Jima from my view on a Frigate that I deployed on in 94
  21. May I assume this is for any military pictures? Or vintage historic pictures? I did 20 years in the USN and have recently started scanning some pictures to share with some buds that I deployed with. Is it ok that I share them on this thread also?

Ugly nailed it. I have been in a saddle for 37 years. People these days are out to run you over and never, ever stay behind anything being towed. In 08 coming back from my yearly Texas ride I had a semi trailer come loose with a earth mover on it almost take me out as I was about to pass it on I-59 in MS. Always keep your eyes and head engage with riding and watch everything and everybody. They really truly are out to kill you.
