I have seen some nice deer that have come from Chickasaw, but have never hunted it so I"m of no help. It is less than 30 miles from my house but I have always been lucky enough to able to hunt on private land. I do know that it usually pretty crowded on the opening weekend, but not to sure of later in the season.

Around here I see deer in the early morning, like the first hour of the day. Then around lunch, say 11 til 2, and then the last hour just before dark. Yesterday i had three does standing side by side about 60 yds. away and was going to see if I could get them all but the fourth one was staring right at me. So I just had to let 'em walk and besides I really didn't want to have dress them all. I've done pretty good so far this year, I got a average little eight pointer opening day of ML season about 7:15, a doe opening day of gun season with my .41 Blackhawk about 8:30, and last Saturday shot another doe 6:10. Yesterday a truely nice buck crossed the road about a 100 yds. from my driveway at 12 noon. Last weekend I went to Hardin county to help a friend, one of his buddies knew some people hunting in Perry county, and their game cameras showed that the deer were moving there between 11 and 2. A 15year boy killed a 14 pointer Sun. morn about 9:30. And the very next day his dads girl friend killed another hugh deer ( not sure of points) crappy phone picture, the next about the same time. So the weather may be the factor.

Congrats to you both Greg. Hey what rifle is he shooting? -
Went by today to clean up the corn, he had it poured out three neat little piles. Looks like he cleared the leaves back to make the ' like the deer wouldn't eat it right off the leaves. Found out that she has had the property surveyed, she is fixing to have the timber cut. My guess is that the line is closer to his house than he realized. too bad.lol

I don't have a Uberti, but do have a Heritage, mine is very accurate. I actually shoot it better than either of my Ruger single-sixes. The cylinders are a different shade than the rest of the gun, but it dosen't bother me. Sorry that yours is not guess they are like alot of things some are good and some not so much.

Actually I think the deer are crossing her place to get to his.

WD we don't know what his problem is he has alot more property than she does. But as soon as this little epsiode is over he is going to be woke up alot at the crack dawn. I already told her that I was going to ease over as close to his house as possible and still be on her place and make it sound like WW 3.

It's ok Whiskey, I've probably already had most of them myself. Just didn't put them on here. Like I've heard before every dog has its day.

Three a day is possible as said above, but like also said previously you have to think about the after. I have a friend that killed 4 in 2 days the second weekend of ML season htis year, and also had friends that have killed two with one shot. One actually killed three with two shots, but thats not the norm. I hunted for years before I killed my first. My brother on the other hand bought a rifle on a Friday night and killed his first the very next day. So don't be disappointed if you don't see a deer while hunting, thats why they call it hunting. Try to enjoy being in the woods and the beauty of it. Good luck!

Just can't buy it in Madison county, firecrackers that is, so I think they might could give you a hard time if they wanted to. All I have to do is go to ChesterCounty, Magic Valley, Ducks Market, they sell 'em year round. Ammo is not a problem I reload several different pistol cal. plus I have a couple hundred rds. of 12ga. on hand right now. Just thought that some those large packs of FC would sound like fully auto weapon to some untrained ear. lol

Yeah we are going Fri. and clean up everything. Need to move a camera over there, thought of that already. Got a buddy with some horses, so I'll grind it up and give it to him. Wish I had a little tanerite that would be fun. lol may try the dry ice thing.

Thanks pfries, I knew it was ten days after all gone, just didn't know if it pretanded to small game also. That's my thoughts R_Bert. Looks like some good ole load target practice. Maybe firecrackers but I don't think they are actually allowed in Madison County. Can't buy 'em so they may frown.

Good for you WD, glad see you were feeling good enough to get out for a little while. He looks similar to a liitl fellow I saw while bow hunting early this year. The one I saw walk up on me to about 40 yds. smelled me and ran .

First a little back ground. A few weeks ago a friend of mine let a couple a guys go out to her property to shoot some guns. One of her neighbors comes down and trys to run them off, they tell them that they have permisson to be there and that she would there a little later herself to shoot. He's pissed but leaves. Fast foward to Opening day of gun season she told them they could hunt out there, they go that morning and don't see anything. Come back that afternoon, haven't been there to long and the game warden, several actually. They said that they got a call saying that somebody was hunting over a baited field. Well they are looking around and found piles of corn here and there. So the guys said that none of the corn was there when they were there early that day. long story short they lost their guns and of now a court date. She thinks thta they arse hole neighbor may have actually been the one to put the coen out there then called the GW. So my question is can I still squirrel hunt out there with out geting in trouble, because if I can I am just for the aggravation of said A hole. I know they will probably be called but I don't care as long as it is perfectly legal. If can't then I will just take a couple of shotguns and birdshot.

1st Day hunting - had an interesting experience.

Sounds pretty dang STUPID to me to be walking around this time of year not wearing orange. I've herad some stories of hunters being shot at sitting in their stands on some public lands. So if some would shoot at someone in a treestand, then they would probably do the same at somebody just walking through the woods. Now I know they are just doing their job, and are tring to catch some that aren't playing by the rules, but still not that smart to me. Hey, its their life. -
Awesome! Thanks, I really enjoyed them.
-
Oh yeah, I knew I forgot something, about seven or eight lbs. of potatoes.

Thanks WD stew was great. Yeah, its fun to shoot them with the hand cannons and watch the expression on the faces of some people. Thats my second one with a hand gun, Thanksgiving two yrs. ago I got one with my SBH 44. We made about 10 gallons, not sure how much meat we put in it but it was alllot. let' see 5 of the large cans of mixed veggys, a dozen tomatoes, 6 onions, couple cans of blackeyed peas all that I had, two cans of northern beans, three cans of green beans, two cans of tomato soup, one can of sweet peas, and of course salt and pepper. cooked for about 24 hrs. over an open fire.

Ok, we know by now what pretty much everybody is carring into the woods this season by Iggybcool's thread. We also know that WD's daughter got a doe. Who else has harvested anything so far, I know around here Saturday was very windy, and Sunday was rainy, but have you had any luck? Myself, I sat in my stand Sat. from 5:50 til 8:15 and didn't see anything except for two woodpeckers. I was pretty disappointed, and was thinking man I should have chose a different stand. Wind was blooowing like crazy then about 8:20 this pretty decent little buck comes bouncing through from behind me.He comes by on the right side about 20 yds. away, but he never checks up, I hit the grount a couple of times but he never stops. I'm watching and hoping for a shot then on my left about 20 yds. here are two young does just meandering along slowly. I am watching and I thought shoot one of them with the SBH, so I easy out the .41 mag. and boom shot her right in the neck. My first with this BH. Sorry no pic. only took one with crappy cell phone, we took and checked it in brought it back skinned and quartered it, broke out a pot and now a big part of her is a stew. Thats my story, anybody else have any luck. On a side note I watched a good friend make a about a 200 yd. shot on a little 4 pointer with believe it or not a 30-30.

Congrats to both of you, and hope for a speedy recovery to you sir.
