  1. Well I guess we will see. Bet your right MM.
  2. Yes, I've got a Puma with a 24" octagon barrel, that I have taken deer with, got one with it year before last right in the 100 yd. range. Shot right in the neck and he was down right there. It was the first time I had hunted with it and I was tickled, to say the lest. Was also one of my own handloads, what a feeling.
  3. Well after not tagging any deer in archery or ML seasons, finally scored this afternoon. Like to froze this morning, and gave up about 8:00. Went and done a little scouting around noon, found a fresh scrap and a couple rubs. Stopped and talked my neighbor/ hunting bud, he said he had been seeing deer around the hunting house. I told him I was going to hunt it this afternoon.  Fast forward to 3:00, drove over to within a 150 yds. and walked to the HH, sat down for a minute opened one window. Thought to myself better get the phone out, getting all situated, realized i had forgot the binos, dang. Well got the rangefinder out started looking around, ranging a few things to see what is what, ok I"m ready. Now I"ve been here all of ten minutes, and here comes this little doe, 285 yds. then another, both pretty small. So I"m thinking this is the yearlings that the neighbor has been watching the past month. Then here comes two more, and then two more, six all together. I watch 'em for like fifteen minutes or so, been waiting on some jerky meat for a month now. A couple of the young ones are playing around and start to wandering off, so I range one of the other does, 220 yds. Heck thats about as close as they are going to get so I reach for the 06, its a '03 Remington action thats was customize some time ago, nothing nice mind you it has seen alot of use before I got it apparently, but accurate. Ok, ok enough, standing broadside, set the sight right behind front shoulder. Bang! they all run off, wait some ten mins or so, walk to the truck and drive down to where they were. No blood, thinking I know I didn't miss, went to where I saw them enter the woods and bingo blood. Tracked in to the woods about another 50yds. there it is a nice little doe.   Pretty good from the time I sat down til the time of recovery approximatly 30 mins. I"ve only got one photo from the cell, and I"m not smart enough to get it off the phone to the computer, so will just have to take my word for it this time. lol   Good luck to the rest of ya'll.
  4. I've got a Savage model 170 pump action, its got a 21" barrel on it. Whats the lenght of the Remington? I took a decent buck with mine year before last at about 180 yds. give or take a couple. I think he took a few steps and that was it. Some time one of these days I"d like to get a Marlin, just because I like lever actions. But the Savage isn't going anywhere.
  5. I've got one of these, mine is a Savage pump action model 170. It is a killing machine for sure, have taken two deer with it and the farest one has gone was about 15 to 20 yds. Maybe not bang, flop dead, but there difinetly wasn't any tracking involved.
  6. Just got back saw nothing, dang cold though. A friend of mine over in Hardin Co. shot a five point this morning, and the darn thing is still in velvet. I would have thought that they would have already rubbed that all off by now. I would post a picture but I don't know how to get it from the phone to the computer.
  7. Yeah, 21 and another windy one here.
  8. Just wondering. I've got a 1966 94 Classic with the octagon barrel that was suppose to be unfired when I bought it a year or so ago. I still haven't shot it either, as I also have a couple of other 30-30's and other lever actions that I shoot.
  9. Did you buy it? If so are you going to fire it?
  10. What xd said.
  11. Yeah! Everybody needs one....................or three.   Winchester 94 Classic  1966 Marlin 336                     1975                     Winchester 94 AE         1981
  12. Well I am going to start the season with my '03 sporter also in '06, and the Ruger BH in .41 Mag. in a shoulder holster just in case he comes by close. Also want to get another with my scoped SBH .44 Mag. I'm currently waiting on a new to me rifle to arrive, a hot rod 44 so to speak, probably first of next. (Marlin 444) Then it will get a chance to bloody something, really want to see what this can do.
  13. I'd have bought one for that.

    Triple 4's

444tsgt, What about cases? Having trouble locating some, you know of any to be had anywhere? Got bullets, powder, primers, found some dies will be ordering those shortly. Just need some darn cases.

    Triple 4's

Ok, I think I want one of these, been looking at 'em for a couple of weeks now. What are ya'lls thoughts on these, do any of you own one? Do you like it? I reload so thats not an issue, I can find about all I need for that except cases at the moment. I like the fact that I can use some of the same .44 cal bullets that I load in the .44 Mag. Okay let the flaming begin.
  22. Hey 79, hate to be the one to break this to you but BOTH Giles and Perry countys are in Mid TN. Don't know of any WMA's in Carrol Co. but they usually harvest some big deer every year. Milan Arseanal Gibson & Carrol Co. maybe possible not sure, or of what hoops one may have to jump through to go there. But as xj showed before LBL has always had some nice deer. A good friend of mine took a NICE ten point there quite some years back there.
  23. Welcome from the west side, Jeff
  24. I'll have to agree with xj.
  25. I got them same.
