  1. Thats funny Chances R.
  2. Yeah Dave if I had been hunting squirrels instead of deer there is no telling how many I could have gotten.

    Which AR 308?

I am hoping I can swing one these his year also, but my wish list is so long. Dang out of nine post, you got eight different answers.
  4. Well I am sad & glad at the same time about the season being over. Sad that the only time I saw a truely nice shooter buck was the weekend of the juvenile hunt and I couldn't shoot. Glad it was a safe season, and for the deer that I did get, 1 cull that needed to be taken, and three does. Glad that I don't have to get up early on my days off, lol. Glad for all the memories and the sights and sounds of nature that I got to enjoy. Congrats to all that got the opportunity to take a deer, and better luck this fall to those that weren't as successful. Was a good year all an all. Hey, won't be that long til we get to chase Daves favorite bird. lol. Sorry couldn't help it Dave.
  5. Rightwinger you forgot the .35 Rem in a lever very capable, and a real thumper. I got a .444 this year and it is becoming my favorite real fast, it is reliable and accurate out to 200 yds.
  6. Yeah, thanks Ruger I was looking out to north. Turned to pour a little coffee and caught a glimpse of him coming acroos the south side and couldn't get on him fast enough. I would have loved to give him a flip with the ole turdy-turdy. May try and see about getting a few of them now that deer season is coming to an end. My neighbor missed one last week, he said it was runnig across in front of him but never stopped so he took a shot at it running but didn't have any luck.
  7. Went this morning, stayed til 10, no deer. I did see a coyote sneak across behind me, but not in time to get a shot off. Will try again tomorrow, hopefully can bag one more. Wish we had one more week, its going to be to cold to work the first part of the week. Guess I'll do a little reloading. But can't complain though I have taken 4 this year using 3 different rifles. Was wanting to take one with the SBH again this year but hasn't worked out. I'll take it and the 30-30 tomorrow as I haven't taken anything with either this year, never know tomorrow may be the day. Any way been a good season with some memorible times.  Good luck to everyone who is going to give it one last shot tomorrow.
  8. Good for them!
  9. Well I went this morning sat til about ten,and didn't see a thing. I wasn't going this afternoon but my neighbor told me was going, so I changed my mind. Went and set in the hunting house and a few minutes before four a bunch of turkeys come out, I text my neighbor turkeys, he asked how many? I text back about twelve or so, he texted back don't get an itchy trigger finger, lol. So I watch them for about 20 mins. they wander up to me like I was calling 'em, got to about 35 yds. then turned and went straight away from me. There were 6 toms and 12 hens in the bunch, then here they come 6 does. So I text him, he text back I don't hear any shooting. I look back and there are three more and before I can text him, two more, eleven in all. So I've got about 16 or so turkeys and eleven deer in the same field. I watch for a couple of mins. trying to decide on which of the does I want, pic up the range finder and they are 195 yds. chip shot for the 06. Pick one out pick up the rifle ease it out the window, flip the safety off, ease the trigger. Click, dang forgot to chamber a round when I got to the box. So I chamber a round and try again this time everything goes as it should. Bang, all the deer run off, and the turkeys just scatter a bit, wander around for at least a min. or so before they leave. Walked on down there before it gets to late, and she had ran back the way they came from, she only made it about 50 yds. so thats number four. Going back in the morning to try and get one with .44 Mag SBH.
  10. Beautiful rifle you got there Rob. Congrats  It sure doesn't look like its that old. Enjoy
  11. Congrats!
  12. Sonny, it wasn't that long ago, there was a member on here that had a NICE Marlin 30-30 for sale for around $400. Don't know if he ever sold it or what part of the state he was in. But, I know if I had the funds at the time it was for sale I would have bought it.
  13. Nice pair of Marlins!
  14. Another vote for .35 Rem., or my new favorite 444 Marlin. If I were looking for a NIB, the only one I would buy would be a Henry. Used a good Marlin is very hard to beat. Heck for a $1000 you could get a nice pair of Marlins, a 30-30 & a.35 Rem., and probably have enough change to buy ammo for both.
  15. While I'm just guessing, you are probably just shooting the slugs out off the smooth bore, right. That shotgun will be ok for short distances, which if you hunting in the woods will be ok. Now if you are wanting to shoot past say 50, 60 yds. you are going to want some kind of a rifle. Either of the calibers you picked will be fine, ammo in either one is usually pretty easy to find pretty much any where you are. I like the 06 but thats just me.
  16. not sure, but the bark doesn't really look like white oak to me.
  17. Bersa, the one I had was a logging horse, before I got him. Strong and gently.
  18. Love horses and do drink Bud. Thanks. I used to have a Belguim, they are a little bit bigger than the Clydesdale. He was a pretty cool dude. I miss him.
  19. you ride the roads on bicycles, picking up soda bottles to carry to the store for the deposits. So you could buy candy & sodas.

    Funny

    Good one Dave. Thanks
  21. Congrats, on the RIA. I've had one for about six years now, it goes where I go, you will love it. I like the grips.
  22. ........when someone says you remember that joint, and they were talking about a bad place to be.
  23. Well, if we did I would hope they stayed on that side of the TN River. That would be close enough for me.
  24. Yeah, North Haven, my bad. lol Any way after Rem bought and moved the production quailty sucked. Guns made from '09 thru '12 were poor. I've been hearing that they are improving, but most Marlin junkies still won't buy the Remlins as they are called now. So I was only wanting to let give a little heads up to anyone interested in a new "Marlin".
  25. That was cool! thanks for sharing.
