  1. Luke its not a 308 Win, its a 308 MX " Marlin Express". the case is a little shorter than the Winchester. Different dies and everything. The Marlin case measures 2.01, & a Win case like 1.93, like I said not a big difference but enough that it requires a different set of dies. Its a BA little round though, some say its as accurate as a bolt gun. I plan on findin out for myself, but either way looks like I've got a good little deer rifle to say the least.
  2. I don't know just yet. Got quite a few others to try first. Some 165gr, & 170gr SP's.  But yeah some where down the road I'm sure I will.
  3. Ok some of y'all may have seen a thread a month ago where I picked up a Marlin 308MX, well if not, I did. Last week I got my dies for it, I made a dummy round and sent to Lee to get a FCD, hasn't arrived yet. Well a couple nights ago I loaded a few rounds to play around with, knew I could just shoot it like a single shot. Well the bullet I'm playin with is a 125gr. plastic tipped bullet, don't know much about it, came in a bunch of 308 bullets I bought a while back. I just call it a Green Hornet, lol. Well I figure it may make a nice coyote load. Loaded 3 rounds with 41.0grs. LEVERevolution, and another 3 rounds with 41.4 grs. Shot this target at 75yds. Scope may need a little adjustment but not bad for my first outtin. Gonna work on some heavier loads for deer season. Here's a pic of target after 3 shots with the lighter load, then a pic. of the next 3 shots. And the last pic. is of the bullet.
  4. Bout right, I bought 50 rds. a couple weeks ago at Wally World $16.98 I believe. Picked up some at one of the LGS a few mons. back $12, or $13.
  5. Love my lever guns, all of them. Marlins, Winchesters, Henry, and a Rossi. The Marlins did have alot of QC problems for several years, but I think they are "finally" turning the corner. But myself I wouldn't buy one of the newer ones without inspecting the heck out of it. Besides I can usually find a nice older one cheaper, "unless we are talkin 1894's, those things are going through the roof", and not have to worry whether it is problematic. Good luck and let us know how she preforms.  What did you get 30-30?
  6. I had two 10/22's, but my son & daughter have them now. Still have a Henry, and two bolt actions, a Marlin 25N, and a Romanian M69. No one mentioned the Marlin 60, these are usually pretty accurate, which may be my next semi-auto. If and when 22 ammo is available.
  7. The one on the south side is Direct Hit. There is Krazners Pawn and Gun on N.Highland that usually has a pretty selection.
  8. Can't wait! Seen 'em in Nashville when they were there, Awesome!

It's our day enjoy it. Later.

    New 308

The 308 Marlin is different from the 308 Winchester, the case is a little shorter, so you have to have a specific set of dies. As to lever action calibers go, there alot, 30-30 .35 Rem. .32 WSpl, 22lr, 22mag.,Henry even makes a 17 HMR, 357 mag., 41mag,. 44 mag. 45 colt, 454 Casull, Marlin 444, 450 Marlin, 45/70, 308 Win., 308MX, 338MX, and then you have some of the first, 32-20, 25-20, 32-40, 44-40,38-55, 218 Bee, Win 1895 in a 30-06. I'm sure I missed a couple, think there's a 356, and 375, maybe.  And believe it or not there were some lever action shotguns.   Myself I own 22lr, 357mag, 30-30, 35 Rem., Marlin 444, and now this 308 MX.   Greg I plan on shooting it a little tomorrow so I let you know what I think and what kind of groups I get. Thanks for ya'lls thoughts and comments.

Ok, this isn't what you all were expecting. Its a Marlin 308 MX, I just picked it up today, these things are "suppose" to be as accurate as a bolt action. Well I plan on finding out this summer. Should make fer a dandy little deer rifle either way. Any way I'm proud to have it, and will shoot it this weekend.
  18. Reckon we can get a discount if we do a group buy?

    Marlin 1936 30-30

Pretty cool rifle. Like Greg said looks like some one has done a repair, or some kind of personalization. Because there is only one screw on the top of the tang that holds the stock on. As for the SN. I'd say "probably" a first year production. Should be a fine little 30-30, a fine deer hunter.
  20. Nice cat!
  21. Don't know what they are worth. If its all original probably more than the ones I have.I got  a pair of '03's, one has the original action and barrel, and some kind of aftermarket stock, its a Springfield from the mid 30's, I had it for years never shot it much. The other is just a Remington action with a timney trigger, aftermarket barrel and some kind Monte Carlo stock, its a real shooter. I traded for it last summer. Took a pair of does with it last year both around two hundreds yds. Never checked the SN. so don't know when it was made.
  22. I'm with ya, I don't do facebook, and I won't do facebook. So if thats all they got then I'm out.
  23. Sorry guys I looked and the link was there then I just saw that it disappeared. So I just typed it out.
  24. The question is not does she talk to dead people. But rather do they talk back to her? or does she think they talk back to her?
