Ha ha. Touche'. I hate when that happens.

Ha! You should put down your Black Ops game console controller and read a grammar book before you type another reply. No offense but it's uphold, nonetheless and semi-auto. I agree with Spots that to be taken serious you need to use proper English.

2nd Amendment And The Koolaid Drinkers by Paul Howe
redfsr replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
He led the first assault team in to the first downed blackhawk in Mogadishu. He was also responsible for getting the information to Mark Bowden who wrote Blackhawn Down. He took some heat for doing that. In the movie he was portrayed by William Finchtner as Sgt. Sanderson. -

I tried multiple times to keep the smiley face from showing up but a "b" in parenthesis makes that show up.

The TCA was updated a few years back to just read "firearm" and not handgun where it relates to being a felon or having a domestic violence conviction. Here is the best link I could find for the latest version - http://www.lexisnexi...ttopics/tncode/ You have to agree to the terms before browsing the code but if you look at 39-17-1307( and the definitions at 39-11-106, it doesn't just prohibit a handgun anymore.

Nice. I've been wanting one of those myself for the past several years. They are hard to come by. I've been ready to buy a couple of times but every time I'm ready to pull the trigger, they are out of stock. I've always been too late on the few that have popped up on here. Have fun with it.

If you take it to an archery shop, they can use a measuring arrow to determine the propper length. You want the arrow as short as possible. At full draw, the tip of mine is at about the midpoint of my frame width. I use a drop down rest which allows for a slightly shorter arrow. You just have to watch your fingers when shooting broadheads. If they stick up too high they get sliced when you release it. And like hornett said, you want the propper cam or cam setting for the right draw length.

Anyone ever wrongfully denied on for purchase?
redfsr replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
When I lived in TX, I wasn't required to go through a NICS check if I had a valid CHL and current up to date driver's license. Things may have changed since I left in 2005 but that is how it was then and I personally purchased firearms that way from ffls. The only time I had a problem was when I moved and my current address wasn't on my DL. Also, in states that let the FBI do the NICS check, a fee isn't applied to the purchase for the background check. TN does TICS simply as a source of revenue. I haven't read this entire thread so I apologize if I have gone off course. -
Question about inheriting guns across state lines
redfsr replied to Bassoneer's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
When you say "old registered magnums" do you mean NFA or are they just regular firearms? If they are NFA then yes you have to do the transfer through an FFL. If they are not NFA then you don't. -
That's interesting. How did you prep? Did you sand down to white metal? I've never seen that happen.

Good presentation, lame idea if you ask me.

Old Shotgun Repair and Pricing Questions.
redfsr replied to wewoapsiak's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Since the last post, I've done two more guns with the instant blue. One was just a touch up of another gun that had slight flood damage to the metal. It blended perfectly. The other was of a shotgun I've had since I was a kid. It was in like new condition except for one spot on the receiver where I once got too aggressive with steel wool and the normal worn areas on the magazine tube from the slide action. I touched up the magazine and again, it was a perfect match. The receiver took a little while as it was difficult to get all the oil off of the receiver. The bluing kept wanting to just roll off the spot I was trying to fix. After several trips to the hot water and degreaser, I finally scrubbed it down with 0000 steel wool and degreaser and that did the trick. It blended in perfectly. It now looks as good as it did when I took it out of the box. The real test will be to see if the stuff actually stays soaked into the metal. With it on 3 different guns, I should be able to tell soon enough. So far, I'm impressed with the results. -
Old Shotgun Repair and Pricing Questions.

I just reblued an old remington .22 today that had been damaged in the 2010 flood. The metal was in horrible shape. I picked up a bottle of Van's Instant Blue after watching Van do a demo at the gun show in Franklin last weekend. I was skeptical but his demo convinced me it was worth a shot. I used 600 grit sand paper to smooth out the metal where it was rusted. When I was done, it was pretty much all white metal. Afterwards, I degreased it really well and heated it up with a hair dryer. Low and behold, when I applied the instant blue, it worked. It looks like original blueing. You can make it as dark as you want. If you get it hot with a hair dryer, you can make it look black. I've tried the blueing kits in stores before and made a mess of a couple of guns. This stuff was only $10 for a 4 oz bottle. I barely used any to do a whole rifle, receiver and all. If anyone has hesitated to try this stuff, don't. It works. Here is the website for the product: Home of Van's Instant Gun Bluing and Arrow Wood Finish. -
I could have misinterpreted what he meant by where the bulbs were made but what I'm pretty sure he said was the new standard isn't something new to the manufacturers. However, there was a reference to the cheap incandescent bulbs coming out of China. The Colorado energy department is called the Governor's Energy Office: Governor's Energy Office - About Us I also said secretary but his title is technically the director.
-
I spoke to the Secretary of Energy of Colorado a couple of weeks ago and he informed me of the repeal after I complained about the ban. He told me the standards for most of the incandescent bulbs made in this country already meet the "new" standards therefore there really won't be any real phase out except for some of the cheap imported stuff. The manufacturers are actually upset over this because they have already spent millions retooling their factories.

Should non-violent first offense felons loose their gun rights?
redfsr replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yep, was. Repeal was packed into the 1200 page spending bill passed mid December. Congress overturns incandescent light bulb ban - Washington Times -
Just FYI, the incandescent light bulb ban was just repealed. You're safe.
