  1. I carry a Glock 36. It's a great little 45. Shoots anything I feed it. I bought a +1 extension for one of the mags. It makes it a little bigger but doesn't pinch my pinky like the original magazine. I have been drooling over the new Colt Defenders but I have to seperate my needs from my wants. The Glock 36 meets my needs.
  2. I clicked on the signers of the declaration. They sure died young back then. Thanks for posting, it's good to read that document again.
  3. I practice drawing and firing an unloaded handgun in various concealed carry configurations. I have seen on You-tube videos that you have about 1.5 seconds to react to a threat. Of the guns I carry (Glock 36, M85, Colt 1991A, S&W model 36, DB380) there is one pistol that beats the rest hands down. The lowly, old school, 5 shot, Smith and Wesson model 36 Chiefs Special. I took my pistols to the range and got permission to draw and fire. I was surprised that this old revolver was faster than any gun I carry at drawing and putting 5 rounds on target. I carry this pistol on my right hip IWB. I think it's the small grips that make it easier to grap and pull and the light weight.
  4. How about a good 9mm like a Spingfield or a Glock? Better yet an XD-45! My daughter loves the XD45. A handgun has certain advantages over a long gun. A long gun like a shotgun is big and awkward when trying to move through a house. You have to keep it in your closet, where a handgun can be kept at your bedside. As for shooting through walls, you can get frangable ammo like Glazer Silver Tips, that won't penatrate walls very well but will still devistate a traget. Buck shot will go through walls too. As for the Taurus Judge, it is one of the best selling guns in America right now, it must have something that people want in a self defense gun. My best advice is to get a shotgun for your closet and a handgun for your beside. The hangun will hold of the zombies until you can get to the shotgun. I keep a snub nosed 38sp with Crimson Trace laser grips by my bed and a 12 gauge Nova in the closet. With a back up XD45.
  5. I got an e-mail from Diamondback today. They said that since their pistol was made for self defense that I need to use high performance self defense loads rather than cheap target loads. I took me three weeks of searching Walmarts to find some 380 ammo, cheap target loads. Since I am stuck with this pistol I am going to invest in some high performance self defense loads and see if they work. This whole darn pocket pistol thing has been a disaster. I'm out more than $500 and all I have to show for it is a 6 shot 380 that may or may not jam. I cannot recomend any 380 pistol. If I had to own a 380, it would be a Sig 238. I will find some high dollar loads for my DB380 and run them through it and post the results.
  6. Why is the everytime there is an artillery barrage in a Hollywood war movie, everybody gets up and starts running around? "Band of Brothers"! They are nice and snug in their fox holes, the artillery barrage starts and next thing you know everybody is up running around! "Pearl Harbor"! The movie I love to hate. The Japs fly in and start bombing, everybody gets up and starts running around! WTF! Nobody gets up during an artillery barrage. Wherever you are when the shelling starts, is where you stay. Soldiers who get up during an artillery barrage are called "Medal of Honor" recipiants. Another thing about Hollywood and the Military Channel. Sound travels at around 720mph or about a mile in 5 seconds, but not on the military channel. On the military channel sound travels at the speed of light, just like Hollywood. When you see the explosion, you here it. I thought Band of Brother was a great film, even if the soldiers were a little whinny. The Hurt Locker was a good film. Private Ryan is my favorite war film. Platoon was a great film, but the soldiers bunched up too much on patrol and when you are watching a trail, you don't stand out in the middle of it. Full Metal Jacket should have ended when Pyle killed himself. If you have read this far, then I must appolgize for wasting your time, I just felt like ranting. I had a bad day at work
  7. Thanks for your continued posts. What kind of people are you meeting? They talk funny up thar. In the summer they wear shots and drive golf cats.
  8. I own a DB380. It shoots better than an LCP or a Kel-Tec. It doesn't have that snappy recoil. It has a lifetime warrenty. It breaks down like a Glock. Some people swear by them. I have fired about 150 rounds of American Eagle target ammo through it. I have had a number of FTFs. I will shoot one more box of ammo and if it continues to double feed I will send it back. They say it needs a couple of hundred rounds to break in. That doesn't sound right to me either. I carry it as a back up or as a deep concealment gun. Cor Bon Powerballs seem to feed better than the target ammo but they cost too much to plink with.
  9. :taser:http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2010/06/talladega_man_shocked_burned_a.html Poor bugger.
  10. My Glock 36, XD-45 and Colt Governmet can be fire limp wristed without jamming. My DB300, MarkIII Hunter and XDM40 will jam when fire limp wristed. I asked this becuase I was wondering how you could shoot with an injured wrist.
  11. The 686 is a fine handgun, $550 is a reasonalbe price IF it passes the used revolver inspection. Chuck Hawks wrote and article on how to inspect a used handgun. You can google it and find it pretty easily.
  12. If you have the money, you won't regret it. The resale value will be very high. They may be the best revolvers made today. I am thinking about selling some of my pistols and buying one.
  13. Combat. The Rockford Files. Johnny Carson
  14. I'll hit it harder. thanks Jeff.
  15. How hard do you have to hit the roll pin to replace the backstraps? I hit that roll pin harder than I should have and it would not come out. I was trying to put the larger backstrap on. Is there a trick to it?
  16. It seals the left side of the cylinder to protect the left hand.
  17. This is like some science fiction movie, I can't believe this is happening. If the good people of Arizona formed a malitia, armed themselves and went into that area to get their state back, Obama would call in the National Gaurd and have them all arrested. Tennessee went to Texas back in the day and helped the Texans deal with their Mexican problem. Are we going to have to go back again?
  18. Whatever I can get. Federal 38sp. low recoil personal defense 115gr JHP. Federal 45ACP 230gr JHP. Black Hills .357 125gr SJHP. It ain't as important as people might think. It's more important to be able to put rounds on target.
  19. I am beginning to rethink the lowly revolver. I carry a revolver now more than my Glock. You know what wheel gunners say about semi-auto owners. "Twice the ammo, half the man."
  20. I would not worry as much about shooting .357 rounds from a snubby unless you are in bear country. My favorite snubby is a S&W Chief's Special nickel 3" barrel and the "old school" slim grips. The smaller grip is makes drawing much faster. I shoot standard pressure 38 special personal defense loads. I also have a Taurus M85 with Crimson Trace Grips. The CT grips make this litte snubby deadly accurate. I use +P SJHP in the M85. I carry one under each arm for a New York reload.
  21. DON'T DO IT. Why would you want something on your body that you have seen on a bathroom wall at a truck stop? Why do you feel like you need to have some dope head scribble crap on your body? Is it going to make you into a tough guy? Do you think a tatoo will make you look cool or tough ot "bad"? Do you have problems with self esteem? Any wuss can get a tatoo but they are still wusses. That is what I told my son. It's exactly the wrong thing to say.
  22. It cost me a house and loss of self esteem.
  23. Funny comercial. I'm suprised those Dodges didn't break down before they got to that thin red line.
  24. He's got a purdy mouth.
  25. Join. It's cheaper than a box a ammo. You get a sticker for your bumper. The chicks will go wild when you wear you NRA T-shirt. You'll be a babe magnet. ....did I mention the babe magnet thing?
