Thanks Garufa! When we were in San Francisco my wife want to go to this museum that was 20 blocks away. Well I ain't never rode on a city bus. Don't know which one to get on nor how much it costs or anything. So there was this big pimp lookin' feller at the bus stop and I went over and asked him which bus to get on. Well he was smokin a doobie as big as my finger so he reaches in his wallet and hands me two bus passes. Friendly guy. Everybody in SF was freindly, cause they were all stoned! Walking down the street was like walking through a freshman dorm. The smell of pot was everywhere. There must be something wrong with me to be in a city like that and hate it so much.

I liked to have freaked out went we went to San Francisco. I was so glad to get out of that city that I wanted to kiss the ground when the plane touched down in Dixie. I don't do well in big cities. Case in point: Every street corner in San Francisco has a begger on it. You walk 3 blocks you got 4 or 5 people asking for money. I don't like that and I got really irratated so a guy final comes up and before he opens his mouth I say "I ain't giving you no money!" AND he starts cussing! I wanted to turn around and fight! I think I could've taken him down in about three seconds! A real city feller would have handled that a lot different. They are used to beggers and crowded streets. It don't bother'em I'm gonna buy my wife a ticket and take her to the airport. She's got family that will pick her up and she can stay with them for free. Yeah I married a New York Yankee. We've been married for 15 years. My Avatar is a picture I took in Daddys Creek Canyon in the Coosa Wildlife area.

I just bought a Bisley Vaquero in .357. I was hesitant because it has fixed sights but. The sights are dead on! Great fun! I bought an Old El Paso Cheyenne leather rig for it. Yippy Yi Aye Ki Yay! The Bisley has a turned down hammer spur that I like, as well as the Bisley style grip and a wide target trigger. Polished stainless with the fake Ivory. It would look good with a staghorn grip.

Tactical Response - Fighting Pistol
Will Carry replied to RobertNashville's topic in Training Discussions
I think I need to take this course. I wish I still lived in the great state of Tennessee! I'm pretty much entrenched in North Carolina now so I recon I'll have to find a class on this side of the Smokys. -
Tactical Response - Fighting Pistol

You lucky dog you. Tell me more! What kind of pistol did you use. What kind of physical conditioning do you need? Did you get to draw and shoot? Did you get to move and shoot? Were you sore the next day? Did they yell at you like a drill sargent? I mean you and I are the same age. -
The Ruger Mark III is a "politically correct" Mark II. It has a 1) loaded chamber indicator 2) a magazine safety, so you can't shoot in without a mag. 3) a stupid key lock Mark III mags are not interchangable with Mark II mags. I have converted my Mark III to a Mark II.

We have several bills before the senate to 1) Allow concealed carry permit holders to carry in state parks and state lands 2) Allow CCP holders to carry in bars, as long as they don't drink and 3) A bill that allows CCP holders to keep a handgun at work, locked in thier cars and trucks. I personally would like it to be legal for me to carry on some of the rivers I fish on. There are people who bank fish that I don't feel safe being around. The ones who are leaving piles of trash and beer cans all over the place. This is a report from an anti-self protection news group. WRAL in Raleigh. The article is missleading in the first few paragraphs and only clarifies it later in the article. It says the law will allow people to carry concealed firearms in parks, when it should have said Concealed Carry permit holders instead of "people", which seems to imply that anyone could go packing heat into a park. And it's not really a second ammendment issue. It's everyones right to be able to protect themselves and thier families. Parks have very little in the way of LEOs and the park rangers are over worked as it is. WRAL would have you think that becuase it has a sign on it saying "PARK" that it must be a crime free zone, yet WRAL has been reporting on crimes in parks for decades. Murders, prostitution, drug deals, child molesters, gangs, the list goes on. Bill allowing concealed guns in parks, restaurants sparks debate :: WRAL.com

I bought one of those Majestic Arms stripping kits that make it easier to disassemble and reassemble. The instructions said nothing about how to reinstalled the magazine safety. The the cresent shaped part has a notch in it and that notch fits over the sear. So I took this pistol apart and put in back together so many times before I figured this out, that I don't need the Majestic Arms stipping kit. I can stip it down, clean it, and put it back together in just a few minutes now.

My XD-45 is my everyday carry gun. I fits nicely inside my pants at 3 o'clock. Never I had any failures with any ammo. I have an XDm-40 also that works the same. I carry it and leave my 1911 at the house. The price you payed was a great deal.

The ambush or "Sneak Attack" is the worst case scenario. They came to the false (anti-self defense) conclusion that a concealed weapon will do you no good at all, so why bother. They want the public to think that too.
-
They don't mind North Carolinians here, at least they ain't run me off yet.
-
Not me. I have never had to draw my weapon. Brandishing a weapon is a crime here in North Carolina. If I did draw my weapon because of a threat and the act of drawing the weapon ended the threat, that would be OK with me, I don't care what they call it.

There is so much more to hunting than just squeezing the trigger. Some of the most memorable times I have had hunting I didn't shoot my gun. Just sitting in a stand or blind for hours listening and watching or walking through some bottom land alert to everything going on around you. The smells. the sounds...your eyes focused on nothing but seeing everything. That's what I love about hunting.

I like a good gun show and you can find some deals if you work at it. I think the "Gun Show" crazy may have peaked now. When Obama got elected people went on a buying spree. The gun shows in Raleigh had lines 1/4 mile long to get in and the fire marshall was counting people leaving to know how many to let in. The prices went up becuase so many first time gun buyers were there and were paying the premium prices for their first gun. I was in my favorite small town gun store recently and a guy walked in and asked, "Can you sell me a pistol at "Gun Show" prices. The store owner smiled and said "Sure, I can raise the prices by $35 if that's what you want." I have found two little gun stores, Fuquay Gun and Gold in Fuquay Varina NC and Drye's Gun Shop in Bahama NC that I really enjoy going to. Thier prices are competitive and the people are down home and friendly.

Not me. I'm looking at the LC-9 and the DB-9 or other light wieght DAO pocket rockets. I like the idea of a pocket pistol in 9mm. If the recoil is managable, which I think it will be for me and it is reliable, I'll have on in my pocket all the time. I think Sig makes a fine handgun. I know people who swear by them and I know police officers who depend on them every day. I just don't own one.........maybe some day.

The Springfield XD triggers are better than the Glocks. I love my XD-45 and XDm-40 but my Glock 19 is a sweatheart and my Glock 36 is one mean little rascal. I feel blessed to have these fine pistols in my stable. If I had to sell one, it would be the XDm-40. If I had to sell another it would be the Glock 36.

FN 5.7 pistol. Somebody tell me why its the best hangun in the world.
Will Carry replied to Will Carry's topic in Handguns
Quality: character with respect to fineness, or grade of excellence. Meaning, he doesn't have any cheap handguns. He has been building 1911s for a couple of years now. He's a decent shot, not as good as me but he has a range in his back yard. He can shoot up to 500 yards so he's more in to rifles than handguns. He goes to Idaho and Montana hunting big game. He killed an elk last year with a bow. It's hanging on the wall in his den now. He's got a walk in gun safe built into the house. Every time he gets a new gun, it's the best he has ever seen. He has a Dokota Arms rifle in .338 Lapua. It cost a few grand. He married money huhuh. -

A friend of mine (a real shooter) just bought an FN 5.7. He loves it. He says at 50 yards he can hit a metal pie plate 9 times out of 10 free handed. This guy owns over 40 quality handguns and says this new 5.7 will out shoot any handgun he owns. He has invited me over to shoot it in a few weeks. I will report on it when I get some trigger time on it. I will probably not buy one yet. I don't own 40 handguns. I still need a CZ-75, Beretta 92, Kimber, S&W model 27 and few more common pistols before I start getting fancy. -
Camping season in the Southeast ends in June and starts in October. Here is a great a trick that was passed down to me on how to make the best campfire bisquits I've ever had. Take a 1/2 dowl rod and smooth over one end so there are no edges. You can cut a stick and do the same thing. Then get a can of Pillsbury Flakey Bisquits, the kind that pop open when you hit agin the counter. Take the flakey bisquit doe and form it around the end of the stick. Hold the stick over the hot coals of a fire until they are a golden brown. When you take the bisquit off the stick it'll have a hole in it. Fill that hole with some butter and jelly. It beats roasting marshmellows by a mile. It just takes a little longer.

10mm4me you may have a great idea. But a Hi Point in 45acp. Then save the rest of my money to buy gas with. Are they easy to strip down for cleaning or do you really need to? -

Thanks MAV! I'm glad you like your 5.7 Resrvoir Dog! I got a bonus at work this March and after giving my wife half, I have enough left over to buy a quality handgun. I'm thinking H&K, SIG, Colt, Kimber, S&W 27 or maybe a Baretta 92. Then I started seeing the FN 5.7 listed as one of the best in the world. Tha's why I posted this, to get some feedback. Thanks Dog and MAV Here is my wish list. Please feel free to give me your opinions or tell my I'm a moron for blowing good money on an overprice pistol that wouldn't make me a better shot. 1) Baretta Model 92 2) H&K 45 3) Sig 220 4) Smith and Wesson model 27 5) A quality 1911 Colt, Kimber ect. -
Home Defense Question.....
Will Carry replied to Parrothead's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You ever notice that in Hollywood movies they rack a pump shotgun like it was a Crossman BB gun? The more you rack it the harder it shoots, I recon. AND what is the next thing you do after racking a round? Load another shell in the tube! They never do that in Hollywood! They shoot the shotgun and then wait until they need to shoot again before they rack another round. In Tennessee we rack another round before the spent shell hits the ground. Just remember that a shotgun is a poor choice if you get into a gun fight in a phone booth.
