He looks southern, talks southern and shoots pretty well too. He told me..... In the South Jews had adopted Southern values and traditions and was fanatically pro-Dixie. Arriving without trades or professions, they were not suited to the agrarian economy and hard manual labor of the new America. Yet in virtually every city or town of antebellum America the Jewish storekeeper, peddler, watchmaker, tailor or shoemaker had become a permanent figure. Jews in the South were longer settled. Significant numbers had lived in Charleston since 1700, in Savannah since 1733, and in Mobile, New Orleans and Memphis, where they participated as equals in Southern society. In dedicating a Savannah synagogue in 1820, Dr. Jacob de la Motta asked, "On what spot in this habitable globe does an Israelite enjoy more blessings, more privileges, or is more elevated in the sphere of preferment, and more conspicuously dignified in respectable stations?" The Jewish businessman and the Jewish plantation owner attracted little attention in the South. Rabbi James Gutheim of Montgomery, AL, who arrived in America in 1843, had no problem asking divine intervention for "our beloved country, the Confederate States of America. May our young Republic increase in strength, prosperity and renown." Over 2100 southern jews joined the Confederate Army around 20 were officers. So I had to ask him why he voted for Obama. He said his grandmother made him swear that he would never vote for the party of Lincoln and always for for the good conservative Democratic party.

I have a single stack 45acp, a Glock 36. It's a great pistol for concealed carry. It has never jammed and is very accurate.

Davidson's has them on sale this week for $309 +S&H+tax. I have often considered buying a pink handgun. Just think if a 6'3" 230lbs redneck whipped out a big pink pistol.... www.galleryofguns.com - Our retailers all over the country will offer you the best price for all the top brand guns

I believe that there are fly objects that can't be identified, but they ain't extraterrestrial. The UFO believers think that a race of intelligent beings are smart enough to warp time but for some reason they need to have bright lights when they fly at night. Is there some intergalactic FAA that requires all space ships to use running lights at night?

OK don't laugh...but I like my Uncle Mikes soft holster. It's cheap and you can't reholster it but it's very comfortable and it has worked well. I bought it to hold me over until I bought a good holster but I kind a like the thing. I figure I won't need to reholster my Glock 'cause the police will take it as evidence if I ever have to draw it. The Uncle Mikes I bought for my snubby does not work. The snubby will fall out too easily.

Rossi made some nice revolvers at one time. I do not know how the new ones measure up though. Even Smith and Wesson are having some QC issues on their new revolvers. I would go with the Rossi with some low recoil 38 special ammo. Wadcutters or Cowboy loads, if recoil is a problem. I have some 38sp. Federal Low Recoil Personal Defense ammo in my snubby. I can't understand how they can call it low recoil though.

My 16 gauge 870 was smooth as silk, light and fast. The Benelli Nova is big! 3" magnum 12 gauge. I'm 6'2" and the gun is big for me. It works fine but it's doesn't have the smooth action that 50 years of breaking in creates. Value wise they are about the same. But the old 870 has wooden stocks and grips where the Benelli is black plastic. The plastic is cheaper to manufacture than wood. They don't call it a sweet 16 for nothin'. I may trade the Benelli in for a 20 gauge tactical. That Puma is like an anti-aircraft gun.
-
I'll do that. I recently traded my Sweet 16 Wingmaster 870 for a NIB Benelli Nova 12 gauge pump. The Benelli is a POS.

I am a sheep, I must admit but I have a Good Shepard and a Glock 36. I try not to print but I also try to carry a pistol that will get her done. I will try the talking to my wrist watch trick next time I get the evil eye.

I never knew a shotgun needed to be pimped out before it was suitable for home defense. All those years my 870 sat in my closet loaded with buck shot and me thinking it was a good self defense gun. I didn't realize I needed a certain type of choke or a night sight or a ghost ring or a "tactical" do dad with a "laser". I am greatful I never had to use such an inferior weapon as an un-pimped shotgun. I mean, sure my 870 could hit a dove flying 60mph and a deer at a full run, but inside my house at ranges up to 30 feet....tha's different. I'm looking for a 20 gauge tactical shotgun, although a side-by-side coach gun looks very cool.

GUNZILLA! I have 3 Ruger wheel guns.

It ain't just Nashville. Just be glad they were just soda bottles filled with "water". Were you armed by any chance? I am not advocating the use of deadly force in this situation.....you did the right thing.
-
I shot at an Armadillo once with a 9mm. The first two shots missed and he just stood there while I aimed a third time, which was his downfall....
-
The 870 express is a nice shotgun. I'd keep it and buy the tactical shotgun you want. A 28 inch barrel has it's advantages, though it's too long for close quarter combat, you can sure cover your yard with it.

I tell ya Outlaw. I have been looking at the CZ-75. Some of the folks on TGO have recommended it highly. BUT before my money could burn a whole in my pocket something else came up, now I'm saving change in the jar again.

My great grandfather was the sheriff of Baldwin County Alabama. He had a prisoner in his jail he was holding until he could be sent to the state prison. The prisoner's wife shows up one morning with this big cake for her husband. Grand Pa said, "Why this cake it too much for one man, lets share it with everybody." He cuts open the cake and finds a Smith and Wesson .32 top break revolver. The lady was not charged. That pistol was passed down to me. In 1982 two 15 year old kids (who's father was serving time for armed robbery) broke in to my house in Nashville and, among other things, took the Cake Gun. After 50 years the gun was now back in the hands of the bad guys.

My wife says that grillin' out don't count as cooking!
Will Carry replied to Will Carry's topic in General Chat
My wife and I have been married for 15 years. I have learned to choose my battles carefully. This ain't one of them. She did offer to go out and grill those chickens but I said no. I'm afraid she might like it. -
I flip flop between 9mm and 45acp all the time. I love my old XD-45 and my 1911 but my carry guns are Glock 19 and Glock 36 (Plus a Chief's Special). Sometimes I go back to carrying my Glock 19 because I can get faster, more accurate second shoots than my Glock 36. Then I'll change my mind and go back to the 45acp. I have a XDm-40 that I hardly ever shoot (No reason).
-
She says anything you can do and drink beer is a recreational activity so grilling out doesn't count as cooking. I ain't figured out that logic yet but I will be cooking chickens this afternoon and sipping a cold one.

I have spent many hours on the Narrows of the Harpeth River. I had a Blue Hole Canoe and would paddle around Bell's Bend then carry my canoe over the bluff and back to my car. They make a thing called a "Dry Bag" for canoes and kayaks. You can keep a pistol in the dry bag. You will need something to hang your dry bag on. Might I suggest getting a Sit-On_Top kayak. You can get out and walk and tie yourself off to the kayak. I know it ain't the same. But a Dry Bag might work.

WHY? WHY do I want this gun?
