  1. I here ya 808 SOUTH! At least the guy could have the courtesy to conceal his weapon. I am very careful in places like that to make sure no one can tell if I am carrying or not. In North Carolina you cannot carry anywhere that you have to pay to get in. That includes movie theaters, ball games, ect. We just got a law passed that lets us carry in state parks and on game lands.
  2. I had a chance today to put 100 rounds through my new LC9. ($345 plus tax). I am very impressed with this little pistol. It looks much more refined than the Kel-Tec it was copied from and it felt more refined. The slide was smooth and the finish was of good quality. The trigger is....different. It is longer than "War and Peace" but it's so smooth and light and even, throughout the pull. I wasn't sure how it was going to do at the range but I was surprised by how well I could pull the trigger. With the pad of my finger I was able to shoot some decent groups at 10 yards (considering I am not that good of a shoot). With the joint of my finger I was able to fire very fast while maintaining good control and getting good hits. The pistol shoots like it is well broken in and the 100 rounds were gone quickly. This little pistol is sweet! Here are two myths I have read about this gun that I found to be false. 1) The LC9's recoil is too "snappy": I was expecting something like a snubby ultra-light with 38sp+Ps. So the first time I shoot it I was ready for some recoil. April fools! The recoil is insignificant. It's nothing! 2) This is not a range pistol: I found the LC9 to be a lot of fun to shoot and quite accurate. Things I do not like about the LC-9: a)It came in a cardboard box. Like a Happy Meal. b)You only get one magazine. My Glock 19 came with 3 mags, a loader, holster and cleaning rod in a nice plastic box. c)Take-down requires you to pop out a pin. I know that pin is going to roll down into the couch and disappear. d) It only has a 7 round magazine. But it is slim and can hide behind a T-shirt IWB. e) Oh yeah. It is not a pocket 9mm. I will keep my little 380 for pocket carry.
  3. I have a DB380 that runs like a Swiss watch. I was going to wait and see what the DB9s were like but I couldn't wait and bought a Ruger LC9 instead. If the DB-9s work right I may get one.
  4. He was 23 years old and just bought a new 22 pistol. He was showing friends how the safety works. He racked the slide and did not re-engage the safety. He pointed the gun to his head and pulled the trigger. Sanford man shoots himself while showing safety :: WRAL.com
  5. First of all who would want to look in a 95 year old woman's diaper? Some sick perverted...AGGGGGGH that just ain't right! The TSA is NOT making this country safe. The men and women in our military who are killing those sons of beaches are making us safer and paying for it with their sweat and blood. That really makes me mad....
  6. Welcome Jon, don't feel bad if you don't get a hundred welcomes. This place has so many newbies coming in that it's hard to welcome everyone with the traditional Tennessee courtesy. I guess word has gotten out about TGO. Lots of good fellowship here with a few brawls thrown in just for fun
  7. Proud to have you Troublehead. I have had a lot of great times up on the Plateau over the years. It used to be a wild and wonderful place. I recon it still is for the most part............
  8. I have a Bisley Vaquero in .357. It's great fun shooting single action revolvers. I shoot 38 special some but I do love the full house .357 and the Vaquero is heavy enough so the recoil is a non issue. The only issue with shooting .357 loads is that the gun gets hot enough to iron shirts with. You can burn your fingers loading it. I imagine that 44 magnums would be a hoot! If I reloaded I would have gotten a 44 mag. but 38s are a lot cheaper than 44s at Wallmart. The thing I like about the single action revolvers is you learn to take your time. It takes a while to reload so you want to make every shoot count. I also shoot less ammo when I shoot the Vaquero so it saves money too. Of course you'll have to get a nice leather rig. I got one from Old El Paso Saddlery that is real nice and cost $170. El Paso Saddlery - Holsters
  9. Well how do you like it? When I first saw one it looked awkward but the store owner said they were great for concealed carry. I went with an uncle mikes instead.
  10. Lawyers are kind of like plummers, you don't need one until the gets deep. Then after it's cleaned up, they complain about the bill. Family law is, in my opinion, the toughest law to practice. I don't blame you for carrying.
  11. Whatever you do, do it quick. Before your car breaks down, or you washer or dryer bites the dust. Handgun money has been a life saver for me over the years. I'm still saving for that $1000 gun. A Smith and Wessom model 27 6".
  12. Welcome Yank! I drove through Up State New York once, out in the country, and got lost. I pulled in to this little store to ask directions. The old man said, and he talked funny, "well Reb.." He called me Reb. "You go down he-a about a mile and ton left and that'll take ya...to the main highway." I got a kick out of that. I stopped in a little restaurant and ordered iced tea. They bought me a pot of hot water, a tea bag and a glass of ice. LOL! My wife is from New York City. I'm from Rockdale County Georgia.
  13. I ain't gonna take that mans gun! He'll sick Paw Paw on me
  14. Hello and Welcome to TGO. I was edumacated in Nashville and think it's a great town. I bought my first handgun a Donelson Hardware back in 1979. I worked for NES and traveled all over the greater metropolitan area.
  15. These guys know their wheel guns. If you want quality and affordability, then Ruger Security Six, Speed Six and GP-100 are the only choice you have. Smith and Wesson used to make some of the greatest revolvers ever made but the old ones are in great demand and the new may or may not be of good quality. Either way Smith and Wesson revolvers are over priced. Taurus makes some affordable .357, so does Rossi, Charter Arms and EAA but these guns are one teer below the Rugers. I have a GP-100 4" and it's a great gun but the .357 I like the best is a single action Ruger Bisley Vaquero in .357. I have more fun shooting .357 revolvers than any other gun I own. The .357 is still the King in my book.
  16. I made the mistake of buying my wife a snub nosed 38 special ultra light. She hated it and the recoil was unpleasant even for me. I think you need to desensitize your wife to recoil. I did it with my daughter and now she likes big guns. Her favorite is the XD-45, which she shoots with authority. My daughter was a goalie for the North Carolina state Champion soccer team when she was in high school. I just pointed out to her that shooting a .357 magnum was a lot easier than standing in front of a soccer ball going 60 MPH. I tried to show her that the recoil doesn't hurt and that it's just the loud noise and sudden jump of the pistol that make people recoil sensitive. She got to shoot a 44 magnum Raging Bull and did not hesitate to empty the chambers. Once a woman looses her fear of recoil (man too for that matter) they become empowered and will likely choose a gun you would not have thought of. Good luck brother!
  17. I always carry my pocket 380. Sometimes I carry IWB too. My IWB pistols vary from S&W Model 36 to a 1911. I usually will carry an extra pistol rather than an extra magazine.
  18. They seem to priced at around $475-$500. The one in Davidson's was 22LR only. I guess that price is OK. I didn't pay nearly that much on my two six bangers.
  19. I left my guns at home when I went to California.
  20. I have a gen 4. I don't like the grips but that is an easy fix. The magazine release is better though. I hope you like the Glock 19, it's a great little 9mm. My Gen 4 has never failed and it has the #3 recoil spring.
  21. I don't understand? 45 yards, 25 yards for concealed carry qualification? We shot at 3, 5 and 7 yards. The class I took was great! It was 8 hours long and nobody got bored. Our instructor was a retired LEO and an excellent teacher.
  22. Every day it seems friends and family ask me for my facebook account or want me to "friend" them on Facebook. ".....but I don't have a Facebook page." so they say, "you can get in contact with people you waven't seen in 30 years!" I say, "Well maybe there's reason I ain't seen'em in 30 years and I can probably go another 30 years without seeing them." I have lived my life under the radar. I have a small group of trusted friends and my family and don't feel the need to go global. If family and friends want to contact me, they can call me one the telephone or write me a letter. I am not going to have my personal profile displayed on the world wide web....dang it! Somebody slap some sense into me!
  23. That's a great story! Thanks for sharing it with TGO.
  24. Keep us posted Wyatt. The CZ is on the top of my list.
