  1. That is one of the hardest dilemmas of raising children. Sooner or later your son will have to make the choice of whether to smoke pot or not. You can't protect him forever. The one thing you can do is maintain the kind of relationship with your son to where you can talk to each other. Father to son, man to man, friend to friend. I am sure that the parents of the pot smoking punk would appreciate a heads up. They probably love thier son too.
  2. Glad you like your XD. I have the XD-45 and XDm-40. I also have a couple of Glocks. To me. The XD triggers are mo betta. Although neither Glock nor XDs are known for their triggers. My XDs have never failed.
  3. ZULU!
  4. Tennessee is indeed a great state. You could spend a lifetime exploring Tennessee and still not see it all. "It's good to be alive and in Tennessee!"
  5. Save up dude. If you could just save a little more money you could get a good handgun. I know it's hard to save money when you have a family to care for but if you put that $300 aside and added to it a little at a time........... My first two handguns were $300 pistols and I regretted buying them. The Sigma was a jam-o-matic and the Taurus M85 would lock up and not operate. I sold them both and took a big loss.

    Gen 4 Glocks

I have a 4th generation Glock 19 and it has been flawless. Even with the stronger recoil spring. I shoot WWB and Remington green box ammo, plus self defense rounds.
  7. You cannot have more fun with a shotgun than dove hunting. When I was a kid I would pretend I was at Pearl Harbor and the dove were the Japs.
  8. Congratulations! I hope she looks like her mother.
  9. The Judge has done more for .410 ammo than any gun in history. My hat goes off to Taurus. The Judge has out sold every handgun in the world. It's crazy! It has out sold Smith and Wesson and Ruger revolvers by a mile. Smith and Wesson has even copied it with the Governor! I can't understand it either. I have found that since Taurus has a lifetime warranty that they don't need quality control. They just send out the crappy pistols and then repair them when they come back. I personally have a very low opinion of Taurus and would think twice before buying another one.

    Revolver to Auto

Mike I certainly don't think you hate wheel guns. You can carry any gun you want. I carry semi-autos mostly but I don't limit myself to just semi-auto. Sometimes I go "old school" and carry my Chief's Special. It is THE fastest pistol I own to draw and fire. When I'm in the woods I carry a .357 magnum with hot loads. Other than that, I carry semi-autos. BUT for shear fun, .357, .41 and 44 magnums can't be beat. But that's just me
  11. I bought a fanny pack when I first got my concealed carry permit. I do not wear it. It's too hard to draw your pistol. It can be taken away from you if you are in a tight crowd and it draws too much attention, but that is just my opinion. I have seen them in public before. Bicyclers and hikers mostly.
  12. The 40 S&W, from an 18" barrel, (according to mouseguns) will deliver somewhere around 700-800 ft/lbs of muzzle energy. That's not bad for a handgun cartridge. I bought a Hi-Point 9mm carbine just to plink with. That darn thing has never failed in 300 rounds. The down side of the Hi-Point is it's magazine capacity. 9-10 rounds. They are working on a higher cap magazine but I haven't seen any yet. Several posts have mentioned getting a .223. In a SHTF scenario .223 will be the easiest rifle round to find. I don't have an AR style rifle. If things get that bad, they'll be plenty of ARs littering the battlefield. I'll pick one up then......
  13. I meant to say that the 1911 is easier to carry, at least for me. I was very surprised that my Government model 1911 would fit IWB so well. I may even start carrying it some, it's just that I'm used to plastic DAO pistols without external safeties and hammers.
  14. With Apes all you need is a tire swing and some bananas. Zombie Apes! That would be bad...
  15. I vote the Glock 30. They have full capacity, double stack, magazines and are simpler to use and maintain. The Springfields are worth a look too. I own a couple of Springfields and a couple of Glocks. They are all very reliable pistols. My Colt 1911 is just as reliable, it's easy to carry.... accurate....NICE, but for self defense I would rather have a Glock or Springfield.

    Revolver to Auto

"Nothing is more fun than a .357" These words are so true. My .357 wheel guns are so much fun to shoot, they are accurate and hard hitting. You can FEEL the power!

    Revolver to Auto

Two things worry me about flash mobs: a)Every one of those punks in a flash mob will turn in to a victim (with a crying mother) on the nightly news, as soon as you shoot him. b)Maybe one or two of those flash mobbers is packing heat (maybe all of them) and will say they fired back at you in self defense? These flash mobs are a no win situation. I'm not really sure what I would do in a situation like that. I would probably my pants.
  18. Massad Ayoob is a great teacher. I have one of his books on handgun self defense.
  19. Or is someone trying to send me a message? The little she-devil had made a huge nest and was hanging on the door where you put your finger to open it. I my 55 years I have never seen this.

    .357 Sig ?

I am no ballistics expert but doesn't the .357 Sig have similar ballistics to the 357 magnum? Doesn't the .357 magnum beat a 9mm by a mile as far as stopping power? The .357 Sig is the top of the food chain for semi-autos. 525 foot pounds at the muzzle. Why don't I own anything in .357 Sig? The ammo is too expensive. I carry 9mm and 45acp mostly.
  21. That would never happen in my house. My daughter is so ugly we had to hang a pork chop around her neck just to get the dog to play with her. Beauty is a curse. You go out with a beautiful girl and you know she has been hounded by men since she was 16. Then find an ugly girl, pure innocent ugly. When ever I would go in to a singles bar I would, first thing, find the ugliest girl I would consider taking home and go right to her. I married an ugly girl and we have had some ugly children. Happy and ugly that's us.
  22. The .357 ain't just for narrow doorways. It will go through sheetrock too. I can shoot the wall of my bedroom closet and send a round down the hallway. We don't have kids living with us so I don't have to worry about anything outside the bedroom.
  23. I took me a while to find the right pistols and the right holsters. I settled on IWB holsters at 3 or 4 o'clock. I tried other styles but didn't like them as well. I also have a pocket pistol a carry all the time as a back up or primary weapon. 1) Shoulder holsters: To awkward, they print and you tend to sweep the crowd when you draw (although not necessarily). You can't take you jacket off and still be concealed. 2) Cross-draw holsters: I tried Crossdraw but it wasn't as comfortable as IWB at 3-4 o'clock. 3) Small of the Back holsters: You don't have as good a control of your weapon from back their, somebody could bump you and take it away, plus sitting in a chair or truck seat is not so good.
  24. That is a great story, but did it really happen or did someone make it up? You can never tell on the Internet but my spider senses tell me it's a hoax and I am right 50% of the time ...I keep a weapon next to my bed and a shotgun handy. My plan if that were to happen is the "Bedroom Bunker" scenario. Clearing a house alone, is for heroes.
  25. I have a plus one extension for my Glock 36. So far I have not had any failures with it. The mag extension eliminates the pinky pinching of the standard magazine.
