With Apes all you need is a tire swing and some bananas. Zombie Apes! That would be bad...

I vote the Glock 30. They have full capacity, double stack, magazines and are simpler to use and maintain. The Springfields are worth a look too. I own a couple of Springfields and a couple of Glocks. They are all very reliable pistols. My Colt 1911 is just as reliable, it's easy to carry.... accurate....NICE, but for self defense I would rather have a Glock or Springfield.

"Nothing is more fun than a .357" These words are so true. My .357 wheel guns are so much fun to shoot, they are accurate and hard hitting. You can FEEL the power!

Two things worry me about flash mobs: a)Every one of those punks in a flash mob will turn in to a victim (with a crying mother) on the nightly news, as soon as you shoot him. b)Maybe one or two of those flash mobbers is packing heat (maybe all of them) and will say they fired back at you in self defense? These flash mobs are a no win situation. I'm not really sure what I would do in a situation like that. I would probably my pants.

Massad Ayoob is a great teacher. I have one of his books on handgun self defense.

I am no ballistics expert but doesn't the .357 Sig have similar ballistics to the 357 magnum? Doesn't the .357 magnum beat a 9mm by a mile as far as stopping power? The .357 Sig is the top of the food chain for semi-autos. 525 foot pounds at the muzzle. Why don't I own anything in .357 Sig? The ammo is too expensive. I carry 9mm and 45acp mostly.

That would never happen in my house. My daughter is so ugly we had to hang a pork chop around her neck just to get the dog to play with her. Beauty is a curse. You go out with a beautiful girl and you know she has been hounded by men since she was 16. Then find an ugly girl, pure innocent ugly. When ever I would go in to a singles bar I would, first thing, find the ugliest girl I would consider taking home and go right to her. I married an ugly girl and we have had some ugly children. Happy and ugly that's us.

The .357 ain't just for narrow doorways. It will go through sheetrock too. I can shoot the wall of my bedroom closet and send a round down the hallway. We don't have kids living with us so I don't have to worry about anything outside the bedroom.

I took me a while to find the right pistols and the right holsters. I settled on IWB holsters at 3 or 4 o'clock. I tried other styles but didn't like them as well. I also have a pocket pistol a carry all the time as a back up or primary weapon. 1) Shoulder holsters: To awkward, they print and you tend to sweep the crowd when you draw (although not necessarily). You can't take you jacket off and still be concealed. 2) Cross-draw holsters: I tried Crossdraw but it wasn't as comfortable as IWB at 3-4 o'clock. 3) Small of the Back holsters: You don't have as good a control of your weapon from back their, somebody could bump you and take it away, plus sitting in a chair or truck seat is not so good.

That is a great story, but did it really happen or did someone make it up? You can never tell on the Internet but my spider senses tell me it's a hoax and I am right 50% of the time ...I keep a weapon next to my bed and a shotgun handy. My plan if that were to happen is the "Bedroom Bunker" scenario. Clearing a house alone, is for heroes.

I have a plus one extension for my Glock 36. So far I have not had any failures with it. The mag extension eliminates the pinky pinching of the standard magazine.

That man is a shooter! I'm a big fan.

I have an XD-45 and an XDm-40. Both are concealable IWB. Both are fantastic plastic pistols. I am a big fan of these Croation Creations! They are my go to pistols for home defense, automobile and carry. I leave my 1911s in the safe between range visits. The XDm-40 will hold 16 rounds, the XD-45 will hold 13. My daughter likes the XD-45.

First time in Tennessee! (and some questions)
Will Carry replied to a topic in New Member Introductions
Thanks for choosing the South to visit. Tennessee is a great place to explore but when you go through South Carolina, don't get off the interstate! They eat Mustard based barbecue in South Carolina, if that tells you anything. -
MrBrian, I would like to here your opinion on the Judge. I have heard so many people bash this firearm but I have never heard anyone who actually owns one say anything bad about it. Most Judge owners seem to love them.

Thanks Bullrider! God bless us every one. The Lord is my Sheppard............

Thirty million foot/pounds of energy at the muzzle.
Will Carry replied to Will Carry's topic in General Chat
I like your's better! The Yamato had 18.1" guns with the same muzzle velocity but a projectile over 3000lbs. -
I just calculated the muzzle energy of a 16inch gun from an Iowa class battleship. A 2500 lb projectile at 2700 ft/sec. My calculations could be off.

The LC9 doesn't have a half mile long trigger, it's more like a mile long. BUT it's smooth and easy. I really like my LC9. I layed it side by side with the Kel-Tec and I could see right away it had a better finish. It's a very nice conceal carry pistol. The recoil is pretty tame and it has never failed. I have fired a couple of hundred rounds of WWB and Remington target loads. I keep Speer gold dots in it when I carry it.

Here is my 22 magnum. It doesn't shoot 30 times in a row but the 9.5" barrel really delivers some speed and energy. Over 200 ft/lbs at the muzzle. I have been keeping close tabs on the Kel-Tec PMR-30, being a fan of the 22 magnum cartridge. I have resisted the temptation to buy one so far. My hat goes off to anyone who noticed that this Single Six has the 22LR cylinder in it.

I'll second Big South Fork. It's one of the last wild places this side of the Big Muddy. The scenery is outstanding! The place if full of Sasquatches.

That photo is from behind Lamance Falls upstream of Upper Potters Falls. Crooked Fork has four big waterfalls that can be run in a kayak. Lamance Falls, Upper Potters, Lower Potters and Six Foot Ledge. One of the best runs in Tennessee. From Highway 127 to Barnett Bridge is about 20 miles. Here is an American Whitewater page on Clear Creek. These comments were written by whitewater paddlers, they whine about flat water and over rate the difficulty but they are not too far off. The comments fail to discribe the unique nature of this creek. Clear Creek is very seldom camped on because it requires water somewhere between flood stage and extreme low flow, to paddle. It can go from flood to famine in three or four days. American Whitewater - 1. US 127 to Barnett Bridge , Clear Creek Tennessee, US

We do overnight camping on the French Broad River near Hot Springs NC and camp on islands along the way. It's a class II-III river with one class IV that can be sneaked. The fishing is excellent on the French Broad. The Chattooga River in North Georgia has overnight camping on section II that is easy paddling. The Sipsey River in North Alabama is a great overnighter in the winter and spring. Very rugged wilderness. The best overnighter I have ever done was on Clear Creek near Wartburg. The most beautiful creek I have ever seen. They have what they call "Rock Houses" along the river. It's where the river undercut the rock walls of the canyon. Some of the Rock Houses are huge! Big enough to set up camp in. They only problem with Clear Creek is that it's almost never high enough. This is me on Crooked Fork Creek in Tennessee.
