  1. Thanks Tnhawk, Her freind lives in West Monroe but I will still be worried about my little girl when she is in Monroe. It was listed as one of the worst small towns in the country for crime.
  2. It seems to be a great match and I can only believe we will see some good guns come from this. I don't own a Taurus or a Heritage Rough Rider but I really like some of the innovative models that Taurus is making. http://www.thetrutha...-manufacturing/
  3. Taurus had my M85 for almost 6 months but that was several years ago. When I got it back they said there was nothing wrong with it. 12 rounds later it jammed again. After a gunsmith was able to open the cylinder, I cleaned it up and traded it. I understand that Taurus just bought out Heritage Arms.
  4. My daughter wants to go to Monroe La to visit a friend. I am having reservations, but have never been there personally. Any one have any opinions on Monroe?
  5. Thank God for full capacity magazines! My CZ-75 holds 18+1.
  6. I think it's just swamp gas.......I want one!
  7. Sharpton is Count Blacula.
  8. I do agree that you should try to enjoy the experiance of purchasing a firearm. Shopping don't cost nothing. I also agree that if you are standing in front of the gun you want but Bilbo's Gun and Pawn across town has it for $40 cheaper, buy the gun and pay the extra $40. It will cost you more than $40 worth of trouble to spend the time and money to drive all the way to Bilbo's. When I go to purchase a gun I am willing to pay a fair price, I am not going to dilly dally over a few bucks. I also try to buy from a dealer I like and trust, even if it cost a few more dollars. Your gun dealer will remember you kindly.
  9. This is just wrong. We used to prime tobacco when I was 14. They payed us $1.90 and hour. I needed that money.
  10. I am starting to carry my S&W model 36 3" now. I took it to the range last weekend and it shoots great and is accurate. It is also faster to deploy and shoot.
  11. I recently bought a Henry Big Boy level action rifle in .357. It feeds 38 special flawlessly too. I love this rifle and it seems to be a big hit at the range. You load it through the tube like a tube fed 22, which I didn't think I would like but it's actually easier than loading each round through the trap door. The octagonal barrel is heavy and it kind of makes it off balance (barrel heavy) compared to the Marlin but shooting it is a dream. Even with hot Black Hills .357 loads the recoil is mild. With 38 Special it just goes "POOF". Here is a good article of the .357 magnum lever action. http://www.thetrutha...-vs-357-magnum/
  12. It's good to be alive and in Tennessee!
  13. Thanks for an excellent review. I'm a Ruger man myself but my 1911 has a pony on the slide.
  14. Savage and Marlin make a fine bolt action rifle. I have a Marlin model 100 from 1935 that was my father's when he was a boy. It still shoots great. Those old Marlins sell used for around $70 if you can find one. Glad you are wanting a bolt action 22 instead of a semi-auto. I think kids learn to shoot more accurately when they get one shot.
  15. There was a young man kicked out of a liquor store recently for sagging and I had the privilege of seeing it. The clerk told him to pull up his pants and he didn't so he was told to leave...no booze for you fool. The clerks started railing on this guy and making fun of him. It was hilarious. They told him everything I have always wanted to say to a sagger and more. By the time the 6'6" LEO escorted him out, everyone in the store was laughing.
  16. Just wondering about carrying a handgun in the small of my back. I have two reservations 1) sitting in a chair and 2) I worry that someone could take my handgun from my holster. Just walking around it would seem that SOB carry would be comfortable and easy to conceal. I would like to here from someone who does SOB carry and how they do it.
  17. RIP Mike. You were a journalist when they had earned respect. You earned mine.
  18. The best advice I can give you is to take a class in handgun self defense and then practice, practice, practice until it's second nature. I have only had to draw a gun in self defense one time during a home invasion and I did everything wrong. I got lucky and did not have to shoot. The "bad guy" was my drunk Viet Nam vet neighbor who got his house confused with mine. He realized his mistake and went home before he gained entry.
  19. COOL! You guys are the best!
  20. Remember when Tommy Lee Johns told Robert Downy JR. to "Get yourself a Glock and lose that nickel-plated sissy pistol." What pistol was it?
  21. Excellent collection! Might I suggest a Ruger GP-100 with Hogue monogrips.
  22. Update from the O.P.: My DB380 is on it's way back to Florida for warranty repairs. I traded my XDm-40 today for a Sig P-238. The XDm-40 was a great pistol but a "Safe Queen". I have 45s and 9s but that was my only 40.
  23. Today I'm carrying the Ruger LC9 in an N8squared IWB holster. I like the 7+1 capacity and I have gotten used to the trigger.
  24. Thanks for the feedback and good advice. The DB380 will shoot 2 inch groups at 7 yards and it's shoots remarkably well for such a light pistol, it's shame that it's been unrliable for me. I will think long and hard about what my needs are and what I expect out of a back up/pocket gun. I have a S&W model 36-1 J frame and a Ruger LC9, both are reliable. Maybe I don't need no stinkin' 380. I'll let you guys know how this saga turns out.
