  1. OP here. I traded my defective DB380 for a Ruger LC9s striker fired. What a great trigger!  I will keep the Sig P-238 but it is my only 380 now. The new LC9s is what the LC-9 hammer fired should have been.  This new LC9s has a better trigger than my Glocks (which isn't saying much) and they did away with that stupid loaded chamber indicator.
  2.                          My father carried a Garand in 1945 in the battle for Manila. I had a chance to buy one in the early 70s for $100.  I wish I had. They cost too much now.
  3. I work with a man who claims to be an Atheist. He hit his thumb with a hammer and the first word out of his mouth was GOD. I did not let it pass either.
  4. Man that looks so sweet! I had bought this high dollar custom Bowie Knife back in the 1980s. It was beautiful. I kept it for 30 years and the edge never touched anything.  Then one day I gave it to an outdoorsman buddy of mine.  He is a surveyor and he never goes into the woods without it. Now it looks like a real knife. That's they way a good knife should be treated.
  5. HA HA ha. I ain't never ruined a pair of pants but I know what you mean about a sack full of holsters.  I spent about 5 years buying every kind of holsters, fanny packs, CC Tee-shirts and so on. Now I pocket carry and/or IWB carry.
  6. I spoke with Bob at work today. He has had over 50,000 hits on his photo sharing web site. I told him that I posted his website on TGO but there is NO WAY that the TGO could generate 50,000 hits. Then he started naming gun forums that I had never heard of. I asked him if he was some sort of photographic genius and he said no, it's more about patients, like Turkey hunting. You have to wait for the good shots. I asked him about his camera equipment and he said that he has spent less than $1000 for his equipment. This Bullfrog just makes me smile!
  7.   Bob's guide had a 338 Lapua slung over his shoulder. I had a reason for this post but if Bob knew about it he would be embarrassed. All I can say is he needs our prayers.     The old male, in his last bear photo, has been fighting off all comers to protect his harem.  Bob said that bear would not live much longer but he is the dominate male. That photo speaks to me.
  8. I have worked with Bob for several years but it wasn't until he asked my advice on what firearm to carry while backpacking in Mountain Lion country that I learned he was a gifted outdoor photographer. He decided on an AR-15 platform and I said "Yeah! that'll do".  So here is a link to some of his work. I hope ya'll like it.    http://rdbowen.smugmug.com/
  9.     I hate Nazis and I have no use for Skin Heads or White Supremist . I just like studying German Nazis. After World War II the biggest industry in West Germany was making souvenirs for GIs. They made Hitler Youth Knives until the Swatika was outlawed, I think, in 1952. I have a Brandy glass with a swastika on it. It supposedly came from Germany.
  10.   It does have the German cross decals for it.  I understand why the Germans don't want to display the swastika and I'm not going to go through all the trouble to order the aftermarket decals from Amazon for $8.00. I guess I'll just try to enjoy putting the plane together and remind myself of my childhood. We would put these planes together, hang them in our rooms and when we got tired of them we would light them on fire and shoot them with our BB guns. Good times.
  11. I hate Nazis, especially Illinois Nazis but I got a model airplane kit for my birthday of a Stuka dive bomber and it does not have a swastika decal to go on the plane's tail. Revell does not offer a Swastika decal on any of it's models. How can I have an evil German airplane model without the dad gum Swastika? If you want a Swastika on a Revell model you have to buy aftermarket ones.
  12. I hope you guys don't get tired of this. I'll try not to quote Wiki.   The US infantry were practicing beach landing near Oran on the North African coast, prior to landing on Sicily.  General Patton came storming down the beach, mad as hell. "Captain! Get these men off this @#$%  beach!" The captain replied "but general, I'm a chaplain." " I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE JESUS CHRIST! GET THE MEN OFF THE BEACH AND TO THEIR OBJECTIVES!" Then he stormed away.   The landings on Sicily were the largest amphibious landings of WWII. Bigger than Normandy by two divisions.
  13. It's hard to believe but it's true. Here is what I found on Wikipedia.   The Torpedo Alley, or Torpedo Junction, off North Carolina, is one of the graveyards of the Atlantic Ocean, named for the high number of attacks on Allied shipping by German U-boats in World War II. Almost 400 ships were sunk, mostly during the Second Happy Time in 1942, and over 5,000 people were killed, many of whom were civilians and merchant marines. The period of attacks began in January 1942, and together were known as the "Great American Turkey Shoot", by U-boat sailors. Torpedo Alley encompassed the area surrounding the Outer Banks, including Cape Lookout and Cape Hatteras
  14.  The Waffle House is a freak show at 2am Sunday morning. I wouldn't go in there unarmed. I won't walk past a gun buster sign anyway.
  15.  I could hardly put the first book down and the second book is even better.     The first book, "An Army At Dawn" tells about an army of green soldiers and untried officers landing in North Africa to confront Rommel's battle hardened Africa Corps. For the first three days Patton was fighting the French!  The French killed, wounded and captured hundreds (over 2000) of US troops, until they changed sides and fought with us.  When the French army changed sides, Hitler ordered several crack divisions to occupy Vichy France. These divisions were supposed to have been sent to fight the Russians, who were reeling from the Blitzkrieg.   One night, as the US Navy's transports lay off the beaches of Morocco, in the Atlantic ocean, a German Submarine surfaced right in the middle of the fleet, spun around firing both bow and stern tubes, then submerged and got away. It sank 3 ships and crippled two more.  The very next night another German sub did the same thing with similar results. Both subs got away.    The American military did not want to fight in Africa. They wanted to charge across the English channel at Calais and go straight to Berlin. Churchill convinced Roosevelt that perhaps that was not a great idea in 1942. He was right.  Rommel's Africa Corps mauled the green US forces at Sidi Bo Zid and Kasserine.  The Germans were really good soldiers and were well led by officers with years of combat experience.
  16. During World War 2 Winston Churchill travelled across the Atlantic from England to New York on the Queen Mary. He insisted that his life boat have a Browning M2 mounted on it. "They won't take me alive!" He said, referring to the U-boat threat.   I'm reading the second book of Rick Atkinson's Liberation trilogy. A great read full of interesting facts.
  17. My LC9 (hammer fired) has eaten everything from +P loads to cheap target ammo. It has never failed from the first shot. I have gotten to the point when someone tells me a pistol is "ammo sensitive" I back away. Diamondback told me that about the DB380. They said I need to shoot quality ammo. I'm lucky to find any 380 ammo and I have to take what I can get. For the LC9, I have a N8Squared holster, a Cross Breed Supertuck and a cheap Uncle MIke's. The N8Squared is the most comfortable and the Uncle MIke's works great too. The Super Tuck is the best though.
  18. I traded my DB380 plus some cash for a LC9S striker fired. The trigger is great, it beats my Glock 19 by a mile. Why Ruger came out with the LC9 hammer fired I'll never know. I own one of those too. This LC9s is what they should have made and it makes this a great little pistol, if it shoots as flawlessly as the LC9 hammer fired. When I have a chance to shoot it, I'll post a range report.
  19. Stocks going up or down don't mean dittley squat. When stocks go down. Buy. When they go up. Sell. Now might be a good time to buy Ruger and Smith & Wesson stock.
  20.     I jumped on the Pocket Pistol bandwagon a few years ago. I purchased a DB380, Sig P-238 and a Ruger LC9 and to tell you the truth, I'm not really satisfied with any of them.   Lets start with the DB380. It's ammo sensitive and doesn't like to operate while Limp Wristing. It's hard enough to find 380 ammo much less a certain brand.  What if I can't put a Kung Fu grip on it, like If I'm wounded or otherwise incapacitated?  The DB380 must go.   The Sig P-238: I love this little Honey! It's reliable, accurate, has a good trigger and night sights but it has too many catch points to pocket carry and I carry "cocked and locked". I wear it IWB but if I'm going to wear inside the wasteband, why not carry something bigger than a 380? I'll keep the Sig but If I could get rid of all my 380s, it would be one less caliber to have to worry about.   The Ruger LC9: This pistol eats any kind of ammo, it has never failed to fire and shoots a respectable round but it has the worst trigger I have ever squeezed. The trigger is so bad that I wonder if I could effectively use it in a SD situation.  Shame on you Ruger! You guys knew this trigger was bad when you made this gun.   Right now I'm carrying a Smith and Wesson J frame with a 3" barrel. It is everything I want in a small handgun but it's not a pocket pistol either.  I have decided to trade some or all of these and get a real pocket cannon. Any suggestion would be great.
  21. I miss Tennessee too. I just can't go back there. I had a little trouble with my sweat heart's Pa and one of her brothers was a bad outlaw.
  22. You guys were RIGHT and I am a dumb arse!  No one at the church knew anything if my wife's surgery. I called the church today and the pastor is coming by this afternoon. He is going to get a volunteer to come by and stay with her while I work. Talk about foot prints in the sand! I want to thank you guys for your replies and prayers.
  23. My wife has been going to St. Phillips Episcopal church for several years now. I will go with her every once and a while but I have found the people to be cold and aloof.  Last year my wife had a terrible accent. She broke both of her arms, dislocated her shoulder and hurt her back. It was awful.  Where I come from, the Methodist would bring over food, the pastor would come by and pray for you and other church members would come by to offer to help. We never even got a get well card from St. Phillips.    My wife had surgery last Friday and has been in a lot of pain, can't walk and needs constant care. I have had to take off work to care for her and it has been a great strain on both of us. Once again not one person from St. Phillips has even called.  The more I think about it, the more resentment I have. Is it hypocritical of me to get angry about this? This church does support the homeless shelter and they send people all over the world to help the needy and I am a terrible sinner.
  24. It seems that in a time of mass media an ugly man or woman would be at a disadvantage running for president. Abe Lincoln would never have been elected today. He has my vote as the ugliest man to ever hold the office of president of these Unites States......but it is a close call.

    Glock 19

I traded my Glock 36 for the Glock 19.  I don't care about the "grip angle isn't right for my ultra-sensitive feel." or "The trigger isn't good enough for my special finger." FTS. The Glock 19 is a true classic. It has never ever failed to fire.
