I'm fully capable of changing the oil in my own vehicles and have in the past. But a few years back, a man that hired me when I was a kid (17) to work commercial HVAC construction under him and who taught and guided me in excellent work ethics retired from that career and built his own Havoline oil and lube business. I feel it now, my responsibility to give him my patronage to help him the same way he helped me so many years ago. If you don't do your own vehicle maintenance (oil, lube, fluids, & tire rotate) and want someone who does a very thorough and responsible job, check out Harpeth Quick Lube at the Kingston Springs exit right off Interstate 40 on Petro Road behind Petro 2 truckstop. I take my RAM 1500 to no one else.

I just call them all douche bags.

I've got a "good job", but work has really sluffed off. All the big jobs that were supposed to be coming down the pike have gotten pushed back, put on hold, or dropped. Our company works on a seniority basis and if they hold to that, to be laid off would essentially be pushing me out of a plane that's spiraling to the ground. (i.e...I'd be one of the last to go.) Hopefully we have enough of the small jobs to keep everyone justifiably on the payroll. Sadly, I have a sneaking suspicion that there won't be as many at the company Christmas party as there were in 2008...if there is one:drama:.

Excellent! I found this post just in time. Luckily I came to the TGO before I made my .223 order. THANKS!

Law or not, I think its just smarter to keep a dog penned or on a leash (when out walking). Regardless of what some think, dogs are animals and give into instinct....digging, barking, biting, etc. Living on an acre lot, I keep my dog in a fenced in back yard with an invisible fence securing him to the property (front and back). I wouldn't dream of letting my kids roam the neighborhood, why should my dog be any different. There's just to much that can happen, get blamed for, get into, or all else, get hurt or kid/dog napped by.

I like the Hero-Gear truck much better.

- I must say that after hearing this interview, my opinion of Rick Uselton has changed. I no longer think of him as a douche bag.....I think of him as a real big douche bag. - The last caller wanted to know if he (Uselton) carried reloading supplies. His answer, "I have a reloader with over 300 dyes, but no, I don't carry reloading supplies". Sounds like an inferiority complex to me. - Yes this was clearly a damage control interview to boost business. If he'd just lower his prices and keep his mouth shut, he'd do just fine.

Being that I'm in the same boat with 40swtn, and that The Bronker has given great advice in his post, my follow up question would have been, "Okay, now how do you get her interested?" Truthsayer's post, IMHO, is the best incentive. I've also heard of family classes being arranged. We tried to get my mother, her sisters, sister-in-law, daughters-in-law, and her mother (a total of 10 women). All were very excited about attending. Sadly, this didn't happen because of scheduling problems. Because of this, interest was lost. I would hope they would get together and plan for another try.

How can you tell if a firearm is "clean" before you buy?
The Average Joe replied to a topic in General Chat
Chances are, if someone says a gun MIGHT be dirty, it probably is..... +1 Good advise, clownsdd. -
OK your opinion how dumb are some of the HCP instructors?
The Average Joe replied to a topic in Training Discussions
Ahem....sometimes all you need is a visual to explain it all. -
I thought this place only got divided when you mentioned GLOCKS.

Your buddy did ABSOLUTELY the right thing. The first thing out of any firearms instructor's mouth should be to "always treat any gun as a loaded gun". If told to put a gun to anyone's head or I'd fail a class, I'd have quit, asked for my money back, and retorted in so many colorful metaphors it would have spun the instructor's head around. Said instructor must have been a power monger or just f**king crazy. Bottom line....instructor was a douche bag. +1:up: to your buddy for quiting the class. Now, he should report the instructor and have his certification revoked. -
Mmmmmm....PORK! IN YOUR FACE, AKBAR!

Where are you guys finding them in middle Tennessee? I got mine (in SS) at Franklin Gun Shop back a few years ago My dad's been looking for a stainless steel one for the past 3 years. I see the parkerized ones everywhere. Am I just missing these things as they're going out the door?

I'm going with canyonracer on this one.... I'd much rather my wife (untrained) have a .38 S&W DA revolver, than a Glock... or a 1911, or any semi-auto for that matter. Semi-autos, to the untrained, are complicated. Revolvers have less complicated and are easily checked to be loaded/unloaded. FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BUY A GUN FOR SELF DEFENSE AND HAS NEVER SHOT/OWNED A GUN....I ALWAYS RECOMMEND A .38 LADY SMITH OR REASONABLE FACSIMILY. Barrel length be left up to the gun owner. Gotta walk before you can run.

Exactly, all the government need do is get their foot in the door. Laws and taxes work on our freedom the same way. If they take just a little this time, they can always amend it to take a little more later...and even more later. If we give in just a little, it can snowball on us and we're left with nothing.

Bacon makes everything better....Cheeseburgers, potatos, eggs, salads, chocolate chip cookies, sex, etc... Heck, I like bacon with my bacon...it makes it that much better.
