  1. Went this morning. The place was packed. Line was long. Waited 40 minutes in line....for what? Only really one gun dealer there (Specialty Arms). All the rest were just selling various hunting rifles, shotguns, and vintage firearms. Lots of individuals selling "red headed step children"... The ARs and AKs that were there were about $400 too much. High capacity mags were $25-$30...what usually goes for $10-$12...Magpuls were found at on table, the rest were the metal or inferior plastic brands...but still $25-$30. It was so crowded, it was impossible to stand at a table and just browse to see if there was anything you wanted. Not much selection as far as pistols. I'm sure Specialty Arms brought what they had. I expected more handgun dealers. Where was Ken's Guns? Sunday may be a better day, but don't expect any "pre-Thanksgiving" deals..... I think the gun grab scare has got all the gun show regulars doing so well at home, the don't feel the need to do a gun show. I can't say that I blame them, but considering I spent $10 to get in, I'd like to have had a better show for my money. Hopefully, the Bill Goodman's Nashville Fairgrounds show will be better on Jan 12-13....
  2. I wound up going to Brownells. The price of the 2 items I wanted were slightly more expensive, but the shipping was only $5.95 (snail mail). I was just really turned off that of all the online tactical merchants running Christmas deals, CTD didn't jump at the chance and frankly, didn't care. It's this time of year that guys like me get a bonus or Christmas money and can finally cash in on what they've been wanting or needing all year. I would think that some kind of "special" would be a spur to guide buyers toward them. I know it worked on me with other online merchants this year. When I get an email advertising free shipping and have Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket, I start shopping.
  3. It's been years since I've ordered anything from CTD. The last time I even considered them (as CTD isn't really cheaper than dirt...they're actually pretty expensive on some items) was when they spiked their costs on ammo back when Barry O was elected. I was determined never to buy from them ever...but I've calmed down, plus I've found an AR-15 compensator that only they carry at this time. I figured if they ran a "free shipping Christmas deal", I'd try them out. Looks like CTD has dropped the ball, yet again. I'm back on the wagon with the rest of the TGO crowd and will more than likely stay there. Dolomite_supafly, I've heard the stories about Botach Tactical, but have ordered from them several times without a problem. However, the first time they drop the ball on me, I'll be posting here...Hell, I'll be telling everybody. In this cyber world of ours, word travels far and wide...quickly. FYI: If you ever order business cards from Vistaprint, you be reciving a free one year subscription to a randomly selected women's magazine. On my last order, I was signed up for "LUCKY"...it's a women's shopping magazine. It's runs out and I never get charged, but I get a lot of weird looks from the admin who delivers the mail from the front desk... Thanks for everyone's input on this.
  4. A little background: This year I celebrated 20 yrs of employment at my job. With that i was awarded a service award (in the form of a cash gift card) of $750.00. Inwhich I went online and took advantage of the online specials...especially FREE shipping. I've shopped CDNN Sports, Cabela's, The Sportsman's Guide, Thompson Cigar, Outdoor Bunker, and several others who at this time of year run online specials of free shipping or cheap flat rate shipping specials...and I've patronized them because of that. Most have a set dollar amount, but as Christmas gets closer, the deals get sweeter. Some even run an unlimited purchase amount with free shipping...except CHEAPER THAN DIRT. CTD ran a "12 Days of Christmas" special, but it was mostly derelict odds and ends that really didn't strike my fancy....and again, no free shipping. So, I held out. Today, while talking to a friend via facebook, I noticed that CTD had posted a Merry Christmas photo. I went to their page and just politely asked ( in a post) if there would be any "After Christmas Free Shipping" specials... This was the reply: "Sorry. No free shipping specials. Just try to make sure everything is coming from the same warehouse then the shipping isn't as bad. We know sometimes that can be hard to do." WTF??? Business must be sweet over at CTD to give a statement like that. Needless to say I'll be searching elsewhere for what I want...even if I have to pay a higher price....and even shipping costs. Merry Christmas.. T.A.J.
  5. Williamson County, as well as Fairview (where I am) needs a response team. There are a handful of us who are actually semi-prepared for the day when T.S.H.T.F.
  6. I'm in and all for this. I live in Williamson County, not far from my friend, Creeky. We both made some slight preparation for the day TSHTF. My motto has always been: The Tag line as of late: "When the Zombies rise, the pillars of Heaven shake, and TSHTF, I'll be walking the ridge at Fort Pistolero (a.k.a. my place). I'll be the one on the roof in the hat and sunglasses, holding an AR-15 and holstering a 1911. Bring food, ammo, and a fluffy pillow." If you guys come up with a name, I'd be glad to take a shot at coming up with a logo for caps, patches and the lot. I'm all for this type thing!
  7. I agree. It kinda cheapens the look of all your hard work. But if "form follows function" is what you're after.....
  8. Nice looking piece and great job with the Duro-Coat, but what flavor is this piece? Colt Compact? Defender? Rock Island? 9mm? .45acp? Give us the run down on this rascal.....
  9. Ruger Single Six. This one has interchangeable cylinders (.22LR and .22Mag) Ruger BearCats are great, too. These are mine. I've since swapped out the wood grips on the SS for black pearl. I need to get the camera out again.... My father has an H&R 9 shot .22LR revolver. I love that thing, too.
  10. I'd use a board with a nail through the end of it.
  11. Actor = Tom Selleck Actress = Kate Beckinsale Diet Coke is my favorite soft drink, by the way....
  12. Has anyone seen the new Pfizer ad that starts with a teenage boy going out at night with a satchel full of spray paint, in which he starts "tagging" or spray painting buildings? After his reign of night time stealthy painting is done, the next scene shows him come home to his mother waiting at the kitchen table with a disappointed look on her face as she checks her watch. The boy removes his satchel, hat, and coat and glares back. He walks into his sleeping little sister's bedroom where she is apparently hooked up to oxygen and other hospital type monitors. Then opens the blinds as she awakes and turns to look out the window. Mom walks in about this time and sees what the other two have just seen and whispers, "Thank You". We see all the buildings in her view spray painted with message "BE BRAVE" and a floral graffiti design painted from one building to another over the length of about 2-3 buildings. Bottom Line Question: If Pfizer sending the right message? I can see the message of, "do what you can to make someone feel better". Because sometime (as the ad says) it takes more than medication. But...and there's always a but. I'll be darned if I want some snot-nosed brat spray-painting my building that I've spent my hard earned money to maintain to make his little sister feel better. Is this giving graffiti "artists" an out to do this as a form of feel good medicine for the sick?...or am I just knee jerking? My first impression...I didn't like the ad. I hate graffiti. That kind of "art" really pisses me off.
  13. Nobody's mentioned her in the movie, "Before the Devil Knows Your Dead'. I don't think she even wears a stitch in that movie....in any of her scenes, and she's hotter than ever. I saw her in "The Wrestler" and in "My Cousin Vinny" and alls I can say is, she was hot then, but she's smokin' now. Yeah, I'd hit it right now.
  14. I can see the sales pitch now. The funeral director is describing the burial packages to the widow/widower... "The Platinum package is the same as the Gold Package, except it comes with a roadside cross and window decal.....just sign here". Perhaps by the time I die, my family will be fortunate enough to be provided with a small treasure chest in which some of my ashes can be stored and place at the bottom of the kids' goldfish tank. Then, everytime the lid fills with air bubbles and the top lifts, it'll says, "R.I.P. Average Joe"...or maybe they'll just pimp out a Myspace page in my honor.....
  15. It's an old superstition that's supposed to keep the tornadoes away.....
  16. Chances are, if you gave him the "Double Tap", he'd splatter you after he fell to the ground, anyway. Flight is (in this case) your best option.... But there's nothing wrong with circling back around and flanking him with a "Double Tap".
  17. That's what all those Chinese symbol tattoos say, too.
  18. Yep, you just keep right on believing that:screwy:...
  19. I'm 42 and weigh around 215-220lbs.(Preferably, I need to be around 185-200lbs) I'm a meat and potatoes man, with Mac & Cheese and Corn Bread being my only other 2 veggies. I went to the doctor about 2 weeks ago with what looks like a Gout flare up in my ankle. The only real cure is more vegetables and increased exercise. I'm no Bruce Jenner, but I do get off my arse more than the average couch potato. I love my shellfish, pork, beef, chicken, and occasional adult beverage, but the powers that be really seem to frown on indulging in that anymore (to much protein which causes Gout). Anybody got help for a guy who's not going to break down and start adding artichoke hearts and asparagus and other vegetables I can't even pronounce to his diet. I've read that milk, peanut butter, and bananas are good to fight this, but 2 out of 3 are terribly fattening. Anybody got a remedy for this?... Vitamins? Supplements?
  20. Excellent! It can come to me instead of the other way around.....
  21. This really....really stretches the limit of "hypothetical situation".
  22. Is there anywhere in middle Tennessee that does custom gun engraving? Say, on revolvers (or semi-autos for that matter), so a fella could have a nice Bar-B-Que/parade gun...
  23. I agree. I also roll my eyes when I see a number 3 sticker anywhere on a car. We rented a house to a man and his family. After he died and the family moved out, memorials kept showing up on the door and at the mailbox. The odd thing was, the gentleman died in a construction demolition fire over 20 miles away in another county. There were never any memorials popping up in that location.
