  1. How does the Snake Slayer shoot with the smaller grips? I find mine is hard to point naturally - I bet the smaller grips might actually help.

  3. I like what Beck has to say, but sometimes watching him wears me out.. I liked him better when he was just on the radio.

    I did it...

Cool! By the way - I bet you'll like your new Kimber. I have an Ultra Tactical II, and find it to be a real pleasure to shoot.

    I did it...

I sure wouldn't complain if my girlfriend wanted to buy a gun! (Now my wife - that's a whole different story.)
  6. Heck - just things I've seen thought up in my lifetime leave me little doubt that we'll invent things like warp drive, light sabers, etc. and break the 'rules' of physics.. As to the original question, one of my favorite quotes from the book (and movie) Contact by Carl Sagan is "So if it's just us... seems like an awful waste of space". I vote yes.
  7. I'm new to this motorcycle carry issue too - wouldn't it be better to carry in a holster (with some kind of good retention) than a tank bag?
  8. So hard to choose..... But I guess this one:
  9. Nice - what kind of wood is that?
  10. Congratulations! If you're like me you will find that its the best thing that ever happened, even with all the trouble, pain, worry, lack of sleep, arguments, expense, noise, bad smells, responsibilty, etc, etc, etc.
  11. Very very nice!!
  12. Put little skulls on them so the Punisher fans will go for it..! (Seriously, the ones on the left look ok, and I like the idea of using a Torx to get them on and off.)
  13. I bought one for my Kahr PM45 at G&L because I couldn't find much else.. Works great, especially for the price.
  14. Looks good - I signed up.
  15. I think the correct term is quartersawn.
  16. I had one, and decided it wash't for me.. I sold it and bought a Sig P238, which I find more accurate and easier to shoot. The extra $ spent and the pistol's (slight) additional weight are worth it to me.
  17. Boy - that looks like fun!
  18. I was walking into Pawbowski's in Murfreesboro yesterday when I saw the beer sign.. Had to go back and lock it up. (I keep a steel box under the back seat that's attached by cable to the seat frame - I have to lock things up at work too.) Sure hope they get this law fixed soon so we don't have to fuss with it all the time.
  19. If you find that the grips are fragile once you work them, you may want to try a few coats of super glue to strengthen the wood. (I learned to do it making wooden pens - works great.)
  20. I like these shows - I'll be there, probably Saturday.
  21. I have a Pentax K10 that I bought so I could go digital and still use my 30+ year collection of lenses. I think too many people overlook Pentax equipment for some of the bigger name brands - I've owned several Pentax cameras over the years, and had great results from all of them.
  22. Cool! I'd like to see them when you finish them. I've made a few sets of grips for my 1911's, with mixed results.. The hardest part is getting the screw holes lined up correctly - I found it easier to do that part first, then cut/sand the shape of the grip down around them. I have a nice piece of dark walnut that I picked up at the Nashville gun show this weekend tempting me to get back into the garage and make some more.
  23. I'm a member, and so is my kid. I think it's a worthwile investment, but I do get tired of the junk mail and renewal requests that started coming within a month or two of signing up for an annual membership. I didn't know I could opt out of the junk - I'm going to look into that.

    Back to 1911

Sweet - those are nice! I think Springfields are the best buys around for a 1911.
  25. Like the slide, wouldn't want the color..
