    RUGER LC9

I was really looking forward to seeing one of these, but like some others I came away unimpressed after picking one up at a gun show. The grip just didn't feel good to me, and the trigger pull struck me as really long and not very smooth. I wanted one, but now I think I'll pass.
  3. That is very nice! You're right - that's the right way to carry a PPK.
  4. The LC9 was at the corner of the first table in the second row from the right - just inside the door. Lock and Load I think - the owners name is Ed. I was looking forward to seeing one, but I didn't care for it much - just didn't fit my hand right.

    PM9 Range Review

I have a PM45 and just picked up a p380 - I love them both and want a PM9 someday. Don't know if it would work as well on the 9 as it does on the .380, but I ordered a Clipdraw online, and I really like it. The P380 goes into a front jeans pocket now, and stays where I can get to it instead of dropping to the bottom. It works better for me than the pocket holsters I've tried.
  6. As I left the Fairgrounds show today with my kids I was almost to my truck in the parking lot, and I see some guys with an open trunk about twenty feet away checking out a shotgun.. While I watched, one of them puts the stock to his shoulder and looked down the barrel with it pointed right at us, then he fanned it down the row of cars. We started getting in the truck, and he pointed it at us again, and this time left it there.. As we dove for cover, I yelled at him to stop pointing it at us! "Oops, sorry" he says with a big smile, "don't worry, it's not loaded" - as he says this, he jacks the slide, and OUT POPS A SHELL! He and his buddies thought it was pretty funny. If I hadn't been so shook by it, I would have stopped and let my ten year old lecture him on the rules of gun safety. As it was, I'm probably lucky I was still unloaded from the show..! BTW - the show was packed while we were there - same old vendors, and a lot of guys selling personal guns. I got to look at one of the new Ruger LC9s at a table just inside the door.
  7. I had both, and ended up trading away the Beretta - mostly because of an annoying squeak as the trigger was pulled that made me nuts! (No one could find the cause, and no amount of lubrication could make it go away..) That said, the XD SC (.40) fits my hand better and is a pleasure to shoot. The Beretta looked cool, but just wasn't for me.

    Holster Art

The 1911 is an American Tactical Imports Titan - TECHNICALLY I bought it for my pretty wife, but since she doesn't have a permit and it would be a shame to keep such a pretty pistol in the safe, I carry it. Often.
  9. Those are great! How many pics did it take to get the two good ones? I can never get the timing right for 'action' shots..

    Holster Art

I was inspired by a recent thread and decided to try my hand decorating some of the holsters I make.. For my ATI 1911 Titan - in progress: Finished: This was my first attempt - a holster for my 'Lil-Devil' Kahr P380. What do you guys think? Too flashy?
  11. UFO's? Definitely. Aliens? Kinda, and I hope so. I like what Carl Sagan said: The universe is a pretty big space. It's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So, if it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space, right?
  12. That is great!
  13. I picked up an AFG at a recent gun show - I haven't shot with it yet, but I really like the way it feels so far. I agree with other posts - mine is as far forward as I can get it.
  14. I picked up a Glock 30 SF a couple of weeks ago, and I like it. It's not too big to carry occasionally, especially with a long-sleeve shirt or jacket, but its just big and heavy enough to be fun and comfortable to shoot. Only problem I'm having is finding the holster I like (Bianchi 82 carry-lok) for it.. I may have to settle for something else.
  15. I bought the blade as a kit from Woodcraft, then made the handle and sheath. I had the knife sharpened last year, and although it's seen a lot of use it's still scary sharp. The oak came from some old-growth timber on a family farm in Wisconsin, and it's rock-hard. I think I told the story before on TGO, but I got careless while making this knife and paid some stupid tax.. I still have limited mobility and very little feeling in three of my fingers, but at least they're still attached. Be careful! I wanna learn how to make one of those horseshoe blades - thats pretty cool!
  16. I read the paper and watch the news.. When my quiet neighborhood south of Nashville started having 'gang incidents' and arson fires I decided to take on the responsibility to protect my family, at home or away. Since then its only gotten worse - 3 of 4 surrounding houses have been broken into and robbed, drug dealers have been arrested around the corner, and groups of 'youths' often cruise the streets hassling and threatening the smaller kids who live there. I keep odd work hours, and often have to drive through some pretty scary parts of town in the middle of the night. I feel much safer knowing I can protect myself and my family.
  17. Nice. Have you shot the Bodyguard yet? I'd like to hear what you think of it.
  18. I really want to get into this, and I learn faster if I can see something being done. I'll bring a pizza or a bucket of chicken if someone will let me sit and watch them reload some .45 somewhere in the Nashville area one of these days. (I'd offer to bring the beer, but that might not be a good idea, eh?)
  19. Is New York such a utopia now that Bloomberg can spend his time fishing for violations at gun shows across the country? I'd sure love to see a reverse sting and have these guys arrested for illegally trying to buy a weapon. Makes you wonder how many times they are refused, but that doesn't get reported.
  20. I wore my TGO hat and had 3 TGO members ask about it and introduce themselves. Gonna make sure I do that from now on. I picked up an angled foregrip for my AR and a new knife for my son - I thought it was a good show!
  21. I have a Kimber Ultra Tactical, and I had lots of problems with the factory mags.. With Wilson Combat mags, it runs great. Thanks for posting the website with replacement springs - It didn't occur to me to replace the springs instead of just buying more mags.
  22. My Rugers: (Old) Vaquero .45 LC and SR556, especially if I'm going with my sons. If its just me, nothing is more fun than my Springfield loaded Commander. I could shoot that thing all day if ammo wouldn't break me.
  23. Emergency Management - no guns allowed on metro communication center property unless you are a law enforcement officer.
  24. I've used a lot of it in handguns without problems.
  25. Wow - the article didn't demonize him for carrying and using a gun to protect his family... What's up with that?
