I was lucky enough to pick up a used Galco Miami Classic for about $25 at a gun show - it looks cool and is very comfortable for me, but I rarely use it unless I'll be wearing a jacket over it the entire day.

Yeah, but if we're gay, isn't everything covered?
-
We checked and were told no in early Dec, but ACA Navigator guy said eligibility requirements change Jan 1 and they should then be able to get it. (Would have been nice if the TennCare people told us to try again in Jan instead of just saying no..) I'm not a 'sue-em' kinda guy, but I swear that if anything happens and my kids aren't covered because they were 'ineligible' for Obamacare......!

I thought that was just a great photoshop... Why would someone really have one of those? Planning to quickly put it on if involved in a firefight?

After learning that the premium for our health insurance plan was going up by 300% to make the plan compliant with ACA/Obamacare standards (according to the employer website) we decided that would be more than we could afford, and we would have to try TennCare or Obamacare. TennCare advised we were not eligible, so we tried Obamacare… After 4 weeks and numerous attempts to apply on-line, I finally got far enough to learn that while my wife and I could be covered, my 3 kids were “Not eligible to purchaseâ€, and would not be covered by any plans offered through Obamacare. OC ‘Navigator’ told us that this was ‘probably a mistake’, and that they would likely be covered by TennCare after changes coming Jan 1st took effect. We had to start an appeal of the decision, and are now waiting for resolution. So – bottom line: Wife and I are signed up, paying a little more than what we did before for a new ‘Silver’ plan that covers about 80% of what used to be covered. (I guess though that we can get free contraceptives and are covered for that sex-change operation that we’ve been putting off for so long.) My kids have no health insurance, at least until TennCare gets back to us about whether they’re eligible, or the Obamacare gods decide we can add them to our plan. Anyone else enjoying the benefits of Obamacare?

I disagree OS - and I've had the same argument with some liberal 'friends'.. I think the more conservative candidates fail because they are not getting support from the republican party establishment, which instead chooses 'middle-of-the-road' candidates they hope will win over some independents or democrats. I think a true conservative candidate, possibly one from your list, that really had republican support behind them would energize the base and get them out to vote. I can't tell you how many people I heard say that they didn't bother to vote in the last election because the candidate wasn't conservative enough.
-
The republicans need to field a CONSERVATIVE candidate to get that chunk off their butts and into the voting booth. McCain and Romney just didn't fire up the base enough to bring them out.

My prediction for the next elections: I think Hillary will run, she will be the democratic nominee, and (it's painful to say) she will probably be elected. I'm watching for her to come out hard in the spring of this year saying that she can 'fix' everything that Obama got wrong, especially Obamacare. (“We can fix it!†will probably her campaign slogan...) House and Senate Democrats will then run on how they need to be re-elected to help her get elected, and they will promise a free lunch (health care, higher minimum wage, immigration) to everyone to buy votes. The republicans will field a compromise, middle-of-the-road (e.g. Christie) candidate, and frustrated conservatives will give up before the election. Low-information voters will turn out in droves again to vote for the first female president, just like they did for the first black president. Then they’ll all spend the next 4-8 years blaming obstructionist republicans for all the country’s problems. It worked once, it will work again.

My wife and I both received the calls on our separate Verizon numbers... We didn't answer (never answer incoming calls from 800 #'s) and I didnt get voicemail, she got VM with $35 gift card message. Needless to say we ignored it.

You remember standing in line at the only McDonalds in town to try the new Big Mac sandwich. (If you could say twoallbeefpattiesspecialsaucelettucecheesepicklesonionsonasesameseedbun in less than 7 seconds you got one for free!)

I used to visit a fancy restaurant in Denver with the best beer cheese soup in town... Asked the waiter about it when I was moving out of town, and he told me it was made with nothing but Coors beer and Velveeta cheese. I've made it several times, and it's still the best I've tasted.

TN Parent Arrested Trying to Pick Up His Own Kids
JPS replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That guy deserves a lot of credit for keeping his cool... Had that been me being kept from my kids, I doubt I would have handled it that well. -
Thoughts thought and prayers prayed.

The Liberty Amendmendents by Mark Levin - These would solve a lot of the country's problems if they could be enacted, but unfortunately I don't believe the establishment politicians (either party) would ever let them be put in place. The Expanse series by James S.A. Corey - Absolutely great space opera sci-fi series, with some really interesting characters.

I have an Uberti Cattleman and an 'Old' model Vaquero, both in .45 LC. I've tried a couple of times to choose one to sell (because who really needs two six-guns, right?), but I can't bring myself to do it. I like the Vaquero a lot because it feels very substantial and is built like a tank. The stainless finish looks great. The Uberti seems to me to be a more elegant firearm, and feels better balanced in my hand. It has a 'case-hardened' finish, and looks much more authentic. Both guns are a blast to shoot, run flawlessly, and I don't notice any difference in accuracy. If forced to choose just one, I would probably opt for the Uberti because of the balance and the more traditional look. I like the .45 Long Colt caliber, but sure don't like the availability/cost of the ammo. .38 would probably be a better choice unless you reload.

Good for her! (Bet she's bragging a little at school today!)

Yeah, my $10.98 is probably funding some terrorist group..

I bought mine from ebay - they also have a huge selection to choose from.

I have one of these, and I also have a lower-priced cotton version. Besides being really uncomfortable (I believe i have the same 'huge abdominal muscles' issue as safeandsecure), I decided that I'd be dead lomg before I could get my gun out in a bad situation.
