I always wondered why the 40 was midway between the 9 & 45 in size and performance but almost equal to 45 in price.

I haven't seen anyone put more than 1 magazine of 380 downrange in a LONG TIME. Beautiful gun, hope it shoots as good as it looks!

The only time I leave a round in the chamber is if my pistol is going into my holster. Practice with an empty pistol at home a few thousand times with a quality holster until you are confident in yourself, weapon and holster. You may need your other arm to flip the bad guy off(joke) or protect yourself. Kudos to you for being safety conscious. Never stop worrying about an accidental discharge, train safely & then do it safely EVERY time.

I actually enjoyed shooting a PF9. It jumped but didn't bother me at all. Of course I have short skinny fingers so I have more of my "grip-power" available on a small weapon. As far as the hamburger vs steak. As soon as I shot a Sig P220 the writing was on the wall for my S&W4506. By the way I love hamburgers

I shot a 9mm Colt Combat Commander and a 45ACP Springfield Mil-Spec on Monday. They are both 1911's and almost the same size and weight. The 45 has more recoil. But if you have a good stance and grip they are both pleasant to shoot. Research some combat stances and how to grip your pistol. Dry firing at home daily will help alot. Remember to be safe. Then check to be sure you remembered. Some homework now will save you alot of wasted time and ammo. I spent about 2 years of being frustrated until I bought a gun magazine in which Massad Ayoob explained the Israeli Combat Stance. Not sure if that is the name but it was similar to a football ready stance that I had practiced for years. I believe there is also professional training available in this very forum.

Unless you are single, buy the AR now before the transmission burns up or the fridge goes KAPUT. It's better pay a few extra dollars and have it then not get one while you can. Yes, I'm still bitter about the Chinese AK that I decided to sleep on and then they had sold out the next day.

I agree with above posts. That looks identical to the Walther/S&W P99.

It would be nice to see how it stacks up against some NIB 9mm's. I wouldn't(can't either) spend thrice as much $ for twice the accuracy. But if it shoots the pants off of a Glock34, you can bet it will be a big hit with the competitive shooters. I predict long waits and price scalping. Of course I also predicted reimportation of Chinese firearms....

I believe guns hold most of their value while optics don't. Newer optics could be different but older gentleman have advised me to buy my optics new and my firearms used. I agree that you will get more by selling seperately. Take a professional's advice, don't take it personal... good luck!

Was the shop you went to really busy? They must have made a mistake when they quoted you that price. Brother-in-law had a regular Glock 29 about 10 years ago. Ammo was difficult to find even then. Shot well for me but he's left handed and it rubbed him raw. Unless you reload I would stay away from this caliber. Having said that a Glock 20SF with a 6 inch barrel is a 16 shot powerhouse.... it is on my wish list but not in the top ten. If you really want to impress your friends learn how to shoot what you already have. Or study how to shoot what they have, that will really get their attention. Or buy a stock pistol and focus on shooting it. I read in another thread that if you join the GSSF they send you a coupon for 100 bucks off a new Glock. If that's true then I would start there.

If you can get a coupon that is the way to go! Almost like getting a free set of night sights.

You guys are very funny and also very informative. I've had a GunVault pistol safe for about ten years and highly recommend it. I would definitely change the code to at least 6 entries long. Didn't know about 2 buttons at a time though too late for me to change the code. This was my only safe for years, I would keep the boltgroup? from my 22 wrapped up in the back while it hung out in the closet. The only time I keep a round chambered is if my Glock is going into my holster on my hip. I am usually lazy and simply tuck it slightly behind my hip IWB no holster and checked twice for no round in chamber, no magazine inserted before I safely dry fire, insert magazine and tuck in. HOWEVER as soon as I can stop wasting my HCP class money on ammo I plan on getting a "real" IWB and carrying around the house like I will in the rest of the world. The key is to develop habits that both of you will remember. For instance if you get a safe hide her keys in it every morning so she will get used to opening it. I also give marriage counseling and can offer you divorce tips. Basically locked up or on your person is the only way to go in my opinion. Educate your children and loved ones about firearms. Don't leave it up to their teachers, news or TV shows. FWIW a good friend gave me the GunVault for Christmas one year. Previously I had wood screwed a Uncle mikes holster inside the boxspring. I was only twice as dumb back then. Kudos to you for being safe!

Good Luck! Aimpoints and Eotech's seem to have a the price locked pretty firmly. But I would pay the sales tax and talk to a local shop about a sight and mount deal. I love being able to walk into a shop and actually SEE stuff. At least give the guys at the shop a chance, they know they have to compete with the internet, who knows? they may make you an offer you can't refuse... or give you a GOOD price on something else you need. It never hurts to ask!

Get the smaller sheet metal one and prepare to get dirty. You need to stick it in the back corner of a narrow closet with the door facing towards the front. The door won't open all the way BUT it will be difficult for thieves to quickly break in because they won't have room to pry. Anchoring to the floor may not be an option but I would definitely anchor the back and one side. Even if it is just 2 thick screws solidly into studs per side that will defeat average thieves. Kudos to you for seeking a safe. I have been shocked and dismayed by the number of gun owners who don't properly secure or maintain their weapons. FWIW the few police officers I know tell me that they have never seen a gunsafe broken into. Only unlocked guns or they took the whole darn safe out just like the honest owners wheeled it in. Man I wish we had the same property protection rights that they have in Texas!
