    My Maadi Ak

Looks good, don't slack on getting your parts count up. I'd probably go ahead and remove the parts you're going to replace. Enjoy shooting the crud out of your AK.
  2. I've haven't seen .380 or 38 special at Wally World in awhile. I'm guessing those are the most popular carry calibers. I don't own either(yet) but based on an American Rifleman article on 380s it seems like they all have an extensive break in period. So I suspect whenever someone buys a 380 they buy all they can find.

  4. Blah! Just like every other CBOB that I'm envious of... How's it shoot?
  5. Gorgeous Bulgarian. And a stellar collection. Glad to see a "collector" and not a scalper swiped up that sweet milled AK.
  6. I would jump on it, but gunshop AK's are always high here in Chattanooga. A milled receiver AK for $600, you can't go wrong
  7. I can't say how well that ACOG would do on a rifle that it wasn't intended for. However, a good friend of mine received from a good friend of his, as a gift, the same scope in si ilar (beat up, heavily worn, 2 coats of "coyote" paint and slightly dimmed tritium). Mounted on a flat-top bushmaster M4 with permanently attached LONG muzzle brake, he put 3 Hornady 223 62 grainers into an inch at 100 yards. Dead on the freaking bullseye. To say I was impressed would be a huge understatement... That particular ACOG had one confirmed kill attributed to it. Personally, not being a rifleman and being a c "city-boy", I would choose an EoTech or Aimpoint for my rifle. However, when I acquire adequate rifle training/experience I will not hesitate to mount an ACOG on my 223. Personally I would hesitate to sell/trade something that I had received as a gift, BUT I recognize that it's yours to do with as you please. As far as scopes go, ACOG's have my complete respect and are worth every penny.
  8. Only wear my Crossbreed around the house. Sweated in it a few times so far. Cowhide is still forming to me. Doesn't smell "new" anymore. I can see how a few months of hot humid weather might leave my wonderful holster smelling like my work shoes. Great question fourspdrat. I'm still fiddling with the heigth of the pistol compared to my belt. Trying to balance accesibility and comfort. To answer the question after 50 hours of wearing my Crossbreed, I have no complaints concerning the cowhide version. However I plan on ordering a horsehide version for the upcoming summer when I will hopefully be carrying everywhere the law allows in our beautiful state. FWIW I will also adjust this holster "lower" to aid in concealability. No way I'm wearing a cover garment when a G26 will hide printless.
  9. Never considered, or even seen, this before. I've used nail polish, chalk and model paint on sights but never considered putting makeup on my pistols. BUT... I can see how a an affordable mod would appeal to alot of people. I will try the nail polish method on my Saiga's safety designators. Used to use chalk on my AR, before I turned to the dark side, so I could monitor others shooting it. "This is my Glock, there are many like it, but this one is mine, the one with the midnight blue lettering..."
  10. Well since you're not getting a box fed shotgun, make sure to keep a bayonet on your sweet trenchgun. It'll never run out of ammo!

    New .45

Might as well get a 1911 now, you're gonna end up with (at least)one eventually. All kidding aside, the fact that you put a Colt 1911 on the table, and first on the list, means you want it. You won't be happy till you get one...
  12. Let us know how it holds up, looks slick.
  13. Great shotgun. I'm sure you know this but just in case... I believe your shotgun was made for blackpowder loads, not modern 10 gauge shells. I could be wrong, but better safe than sorry.

    Pistol Search

I'll throw in my 2 cents also... It is possible to use a "thumbs over each other" grip with a revolver. You can also find a low recoil load for practice. My uncle participates in Cowboy Action Shooting and they load their revolvers really light for the speed shooting competions. I also think the old 38S&W cartridge can be fired safely in a 38 Special. Being shorter in length in may require more diligent cleaning of the cylinder. Hopefully with a strong 2 handed grip, light loads, and short but frequent trips to the range she can slowly progress until she can shoot her pistol one handed with a potent 38+P self defense load. But even the anemic 38S&W with a lead bullet is better than being unarmed. I'm sure any money spent on professional training would well spent. Good Luck and Kudos to you and your wife.
  15. Very nice. Which is your favorite?
  16. Wow! I'm definitely sending my Springfield Mil-Spec back to get worked on. Works great till it gets hot and dirty. Then I'll get a warning casing or 2 to the forehead. Then stovepipe or casing stuck facing forward on extractor. Thought my CLP was evaporating, then I tried some high tech grease. OR... Maybe I'll just use a natural lubricant, Bucket-O-Mud.
  17. That looks like alot of fun! The closest I've came to that type of shooting is at the beginning of Modern Warfare 2, a video game. Thanks for sharing.
  18. Really? I have a Mil-Spec and would love an easy trigger upgrade. Didn't even know they made a black stainless finish. Sweet 1911 Jeff

    It shoots FIRE!

Now take off the flash suppresor!
  20. I would recommend 5" for your "FIRST" 1911. Let us know what you get and what you think about your choice.
  21. What kind of gear do you wear? Just a helmet? Jacket? Gloves? Pants? I'm thinking A quality fanny pack.
  22. Personally I prefer full size all steel 1911's. HOWEVER... My friend's Colt Defender looks and feels perfect. Does well at the range until it gets hot or dirty. He's still searching for a magazine/ HP/ lubrication combo that yields reliable results. When he carries it at the moment the only HP is in the chamber. EVERY time I pick that Defender up I can't help but think how much smaller, lighter, and sexier it is than my Mil-Spec. Disease? Yes. If we'd spent 10 years with any other pistol, And it still FTE/FTF we would consider ourselves morons.
  23. See which ones shoot the best and go with those.
  24. WOW! How long till the coffee and eggs are ready? Or do we need a water cooled Browning for those? Very cool post and pics.
  25. Impressive collection. I've been spending way too much time on the Kahr website lately. Pretty sure they have some kind of sublimenal messaging built into the site... Suddenly a rainbow of Kahr PM series pistols appears when I close my eyes...
