  1. Hey Will, you bought it, and you like it, and that's all that matters. Enjoy your new pistol, and I wish I had one, too!
  2. What caliber is that?
  3. The first two photos show a flat horizontal railroad bridge. The third photo shows a bridge that rises from the bank to a higher point above the water, and is not a railroad bridge. But the style of construction is similar. So, I think there are two different bridges here.
  4. Hope you get your gun back, and I hope that it won't be used to commit a crime. Maybe it will turn up at a pawn shop. Whoever stole it deserves a thrashing, for sure.
  5. To each his own. You had fun doing it, and you like it, and that's all that matters. Good luck setting the action and barrel!
  6. The Phoenix Arms HP22A is a great gun for the money. But it is what it is: zamak, heavy, and hard to take apart and put back together again. It's not a GLOCK, but it is a fun little gun, and usually reliable with CCI mini mag ammo. I liked mine so much I also got one in .25 acp. Here's my full review.... 7. Beretta = Good quality. Congrats.
  8. Makes sense, and rings true. But it will be the end of an era. GLOCK pistols may still be just as fine, but it won't be the same without old Gaston.
  9. What a great sign! All the criminals will heed, and not take any weapons here, creating a wonderful safe zone! Of course we know the real reason for the sign. It's called "covering your a.." Now all the council members can say of a shooting..."It's none of my fault! We put up the sign! We told those criminals to stay out of there!"
  10. Too much extremism for my taste, but some interesting chapters in the first book. The second book was awful, IMO. I haven't seen the third.
  11. Someone said a long time ago that "You make your money in business, and you PRESERVE your money in real estate." You should leave your 401K alone. Don't take money out. Just let it ride. You are only 34, and who knows if the stock market will be good to you in the next 30 years. It might. On the other hand, you could start putting your contributions into cds, and when you have enough money for a downpayment, buy a quadruplex. Let the rental income pay your mortgage for the next 20 or 30 years. Then you will have a source of income from rents that will last until you die, and you can leave the quad to your kids, or to a charity, or whatever you like. You can also preserve your money by buying a few silver or gold coins each month. In 30 years they will have increased in price, and preserved the value of your money. Just my two cents.
  12. Today's classifieds have some really cheap guns for sale, include a Clerke revovler! Fun for some collector... May 2010 Classified Ads Guns Chattanooga Times Free Press
  13. I-Like-Pie is a knowledgeable gun guy, and a good man. I bet he can help, as he says.
  14. Welcome to you, from Signal Mtn...
  15. The CTFP classified ads are updated and archived here. It's a good place to find a firearm for sale, if you live near Chattanooga.... Chattanooga Times Free Press Guns Classified Ads
  16. The new Academy in Hixson on Hwy 153 seems to have all kinds of ammo in stock. I got some Monarch .45 ACP (that's the Academy store brand) at $18.99 per 50. Made in Serbia, but it is brass.
  17. For a .380, the original light-weight, and still the best, IMO, is the Kel-Tec P3AT. The price is low, and the customer service is great. They have turned out to be reliable little pistols. And very simple to operate.
  18. Just curious, was it hard to remove the "varnish" from the interior of the gun?
  19. The end of my story: I traded it NIB for an NIB SIG p245 handgun. Both of us are happy. Guess I'm just not much of a rifle guy, though every now and then I try.
  20. I've been familiar with Sigmas for a long time (I only have two now), and the trigger "fix" has been around a long time. Those who have had the most experience with Sigmas on the S&W forum generally say "don't do the trigger job." The trigger isn't THAT bad to begin with, and it smooths out a little with use.
  21. Red, it is YOUR gun, right? So "stick to your guns!"
  22. Better to leave the animal alone and drive on. Wounded animals die very quickly, and it won't suffer long. Using your firearm can get you into a lot of trouble, and it's not worth the risk.
  23. I suggest you pass on this, and get a REAL AK that takes 30 round mags. It will only cost you about $50 more, and you will end up getting one anyway.
  24. FTF is an additional margin of safety. You can size a fellow up, look at his ID, be sure you aren't selling to the wrong kind of guy, etc. Having said that, I really appreciate some on this board who have shipped directly to me. Thanks!
