  1. She ain’t bad. Seems an empty room though.
  2. 1. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as anything else. 2. Time is precious. 3. Your unalienable rights do not entitle you to the products of anyone else’s labor. If you aren’t willing to work for it, then you don’t need/deserve it. *Bonus: If you ain’t you first, you’re last. And rubbin’s racin.
  3. We will see. And if he does, I’ll be watching games with the mute button. I have no interest in hearing him speak.
  4. I don’t care about his politics. Im okay with him being charged because we preach the four rules and the liability that comes along with those. To let him off undermines that teaching. I don’t care who they, if they have a gun in their hand, they are responsible for anything that happens involving that gun. I’d say the same for a sword. Or a lawnmower. You are responsible for your actions. I go back to a previous remark, there is no reason for him to point a gun at anyone. Not a soul. That is on him. No one can plead ignorance of that gun law. Pointing a gun at people is dangerous.
  5. A lot of your post was accurate but you missed the mark on this part. I don’t recall these violent protests. I remember the city being peaceful by the national standard of the time. As for the hiring standards, nothing has changed since she took control in June of 2021. And all of the officers involved were hired between March 2017 and August 2020, nearly a year before her tenure began. I have no problem lambasting her for any role she played, but it’s not necessary to throw dirt on her that she didn’t earn. She’s earned enough on her own.
  6. He’s not. The seventh officer was a regular precinct officer, not part of any special unit.
  7. 1. Absolutely. it's going to be important to see if the videos from the dashcams and street cams in the area corroborate the officer's story. Part of the story doesn't make sense. The officer accuses Tyre, in both the video and the leaked report, of driving down the wrong side of the road and attempting to run into squad cars. Yet, he gets just a block down the street and stops at a red light with his blinker on and no oncoming traffic (from the dash cam in video 1)? Why would someone do that? It doesn't add up. And I've really not heard anyone discuss that. None of the MPD higher ups have acknowledged any evidence of Tyre driving recklessly. If it exists, I'm sure we will see it in court. 2. A lot of Branca's argument is predicated on not having autopsy results. He takes the officers word that Tyre is "on something" and accepts it as fact until proven otherwise. Like I said in point one, there is still a lot of questions that need answered and we are likely going to have to wait for the legal teams to present those answers in court. 3. I think Branca missed the other two that were complicit in the one officer's actions. They held Tyre for the other officer. That makes them co-conspirators or whatever terms the court will use. The charges may be less for them but they aren't innocent. 4. This statement only matters if the arrest is found to be justified. Which goes back to statement one. 5. This assumes that they did not violate MPD policy. I don't know MPD policy well enough to make such a bold statement.
  8. You should add Matt Larosiere (fudd busters on YouTube) to your list. He’s probably one of the best I’ve come across when it comes to actual firearm law.
  9. I would argue that one should never act with deadly force in a property crime situation. But that’s a moral thing, not a legal one. Nothing I own is worth having to explain to my higher power why I took a person’s life, not even my house.
  10. Kinda, possibly. It’s based on the “surface area” of the end of the extension. And I don’t know what their metric is there as I haven’t read the entire ruling.
  11. I still have some.

  13. He goes so far as to say he isn’t watching video 1 because we assume the arrest was legal. He says cops don’t just go around arresting people for no reason. It simply doesn’t happen. His reasoning.
  14. I believe you missed the part of the videos where he wasn’t afforded the opportunity to comply. He was told to get out of the car while simultaneously being violently removed by the former officer. One was holding an arm under his body while he was told to roll onto his stomach. Much like Shaver, the commands were either impossible to follow physically or countered other commands from others on the scene. Unrelated In the video after the second beating, an officer can be heard saying he has Tyre on video almost running into his squad car and driving down the wrong side of the road. Where is that video? If that’s the case, I suppose we will see it in court.
  15. I believe that changed last year though.
  16. As far as I understand it, officers must be able to articulate felony charges any time they involve themselves in or initiate a chase. That’s what that statement was about. in the same video, one of the officers says he only saw Tyre because he stopped to wipe his face. He was so close to home. That hurt as much as anything.
  17. Not much. The city has insurance policies for this stuff.
  18. Sorry. It’s five.
  19. The longest tenured of the five had just over five years. A couple only three years. and I don’t buy the training argument. You don’t train cops to be good human beings. You train them in tactics, policy and law. None of those are displayed in this series of videos. These videos demonstrate 8 individuals failing on a basic human decency level. The argument used to be, and people gave a pass for, that officers only encounter the worst of humanity and so they start to see everyone as less than human. That doesn’t make it okay. Not in the slightest. These guys may have been great people. But on January 7th, they committed some of the most heinous acts known to man. I pray for Tyre’s family and the families of those officers.
  20. I’m 39. I know. But I’m older than my age. My dad always told people I should have been his brother.
  21. Not combative at all. And I wasn’t singling anyone out. But generally in these type situations there is a lot of trying to defend officers. People trying to point out a criminal history of the victim or finding pictures that make them look bad. Asking to wait until we see the video and giving them the benefit of the doubt. There just wasn’t as much of that this time. Maybe because there wasn’t anything to find about Tyre. Not just here but it seems everywhere the general attitude towards this has been that it was VERY VERY bad from the start. And again, I don’t know if that’s because of an overall shift in attitudes or because everyone could just tell that this was wrong from the jump.
  22. Memphis did not burn last night. Regardless of your issues with any signage, or where they protested, the bridge protest was peaceful. the rest of the city lost their minds. There was a lot of vandalism and burglary by opportunists. They weren't carrying signs or chanting. It was the same people who are always burgling and vandaling taking advantage of the climate to make their city worse. But overall, I’m proud of my city so far. The days to come could be very different though so I just pray for level heads to prevail. I should also say, I’ve never seen a police brutality thread on this forum where almost no one defends the police. I don’t know if it speaks to the general attitude of the forum changing or the specifics of this thread. But it is definitely new.
  23. And those rumors and conjecture don’t contribute to the discussion, at this point. I think a lot of people are trying to spread these “whys” to justify why people they generally seem to respect or “back” or support would do something like this. And in my mind it distracts us from the fact that it did happen. The why doesn’t matter. They were driving MPD vehicles, getting paid by MPD and wearing MPD uniforms. They represent not just Memphis but police officers nationwide. We are a developed, supposedly free, nation. Our law enforcement officials should never act in this manner, reasons be damned. If Tyre was sleeping with one of their girls, does it change anything? They used their position of authority to take a man’s life. That’s the point of this. The why doesn’t change that for me.
  24. To my knowledge, there was no helicopter up that night. The “aerial” footage is from a pole mounted camera known as sky cop.
  25. Two models. The DIY version and the Gunsmith or Pro model. The diy version uses an Allen wrench. The pro model has a magnet tip on the screw to hold small sight screws and the front sight wrench is a t-handle for the screw. Both have bundle specials right now where you can get the pusher and their new R3D sight set. https://xssights.com/products/sight-tools/glock-sight-tools/sight-pusher-kit-GUNSMITH-series.html
