  1. She kinda looks like my granny.
  2. The man responsible for the Mustang and for keeping Chrysler alive passed away yesterday at 94 years old. I read his autobiography in middle school and fell in love with nonfiction at that point. Thank you, Lee, for everything. You will be missed.
  3. Agreed so much.

From what ive seen, teachers would riot if that were to happen.

Why? What was going on that they had cops there all the time? Like I said, we didn't have cops at the school all the time but usually one or two would sit in the parking lot as school got out. But that was really it.

Where did yall go to school that you had cops around? I went to a Memphis City School and they didn't have a cop until after I graduated.
  7. Sure. Although those are individuals that are able to defend themselves. They aren't a place that can't defend itself because its a place. So I'll stick up for it.

That's actually a better ratio than policing in general. I don't know about other departments but the Memphis Police Department has a little over 2000 cops right now. The city has an area of about 207,360 acres. About 5700 acres of that are water so we can take those out if you want and get it closer to 2000 cops covering 200,000 acres (for the sake of simple math). That's one cop for every 100 acres. I was able to find Nashville's numbers. They have 1315 cops covering 336,000 acres. That's one cop for every 255 acres. A worse ratio that Memphis and way behind the SRO that you said.
  9. The Memphis bashing gets old. And Memphians, true Memphians not the suburbanites, take it very personally. We all know that Memphis isn't perfect and has more than its share of problems. But we are still here, trying and tired of hearing people that don't want to be here and are never here talking crap about what we consider "ours." If I just wrote crap about your house all the time, you'd get tired of it too.
  10. So far, my experience with the SS office is far superior to my experiences dealing with the DMV or even just the local police department when trying to get CLEO signoff for NFA items. Thank goodness I don't have to do that anymore.
  11. Why not just get a passport card and throw it in the wallet?
  12. Screw them. I'll renew when I'm supposed to. I ain't going out of my way because they move the goalposts.
  13. See the quote below. Exactly what I'm talking about. And they were between North and Yale. In Bartlett. Go ahead. Air them here. I'd love to hear it. I live near Craigmont and I feel perfectly safe here. Wonderful little neighborhood with some fantastic neighbors.
  14. I got friends that live in the neighborhoods behind Bartlett High. Recently, they had something like five shootings or robberies in the area within a week. It’s not the utopia Bartlett residents keep trying to sell me.
  15. Just for clarification, I don’t think they’re all junkies either. I just don’t want to hear Memphis terrible and nothing bad ever happens in the sticks.

I'll go a step further and say that should apply to all of us as well. At least in the presence of a bunch of kids.

Because SRO's do anything? Reference Scott Peterson.
  18. But that just doesn't seem accurate to me. I have a place in a small town, less than 600 people. I think thats about as country as it gets. We don't have a stoplight even. But the folks across the street's granddaughter is a methhead heroine junkie and has multiple felonies for stealing stuff and bashing people's heads in. And she ain't the only one. The neighbors next door used to be junkies but they are all locked up so its some of their family living there now. The rural areas are full of junkies and criminals. There is even a thread about a whole county of junkies in the hunting section.
  19. I don't use a passcode. I'm too lazy.
  20. That's gonna be tough. First off, it takes me seconds to delete my call log. Secondly, the first thing most people do after a crash is call someone. So how is the cop going to separate what happened before the crash and after? I can easily see this being worthless in court.
  21. Oh I know. He said it was Sam Cooper and 240 but thats several miles from Sam Cooper and Highland. That's all I was referring to. They also talked about one this morning that happened on July 12th on Third at Mitchell.
  22. Channel 3 this morning put the shooting several miles away at Sam Cooper and Highland.
  23. Because there isn't an interstate running through Bartlett. I live just across the line in Raleigh. Bartlett is just as crunk as Memphis, you just choose not to notice it.
  24. Nothing reported when I got mine years ago.
  25. I'm way more scared of the rural methheads than I am the average city dwelling ignorant moderate.
