  1. The one part of the XD gear that is worth its weight in gold is the mag loader for the first several hundred rounds. the rest of it never gets touched.
  2. Have to bump this back up since I have seen a lot of talk about it on other boards today. Apparently a 2nd quarter release has been discussed and they are working on a .22lr conversion with a .22lr version soon to follow.
  3. All of the XD's are great pistols. Here is a picture of one of my old ones and a picture of the target the first magazine through it (12 yards out). Accurate, reliable, comfortable guns. You cannot go wrong with an XD. 475 isnt too terrible if you want to help your friend out but I would be looking more between 400 and 450.
  4. To me, the LCR just looks like a regular revolver since the grips cover MOST of the polymer. The new taurus however is ridiculous looking.
  5. I just want to take a minute to address the hatred towards Memphis. I have lived here my entire 27 years of existence and my father lived here for the entire 51 years of his. While I might not agree with everything that goes on in this city, I am a proud Memphian and a proud Tennessean. I know that Memphis is not in great shape and since I have been old enough to know, I have been doing everything in my power to help to change this city. I am not alone either. There are plenty more like me. However, the biggest problem lies in the people who give up and move. If half of the people that moved because they didn't like what was happening had chosen stay, we would have the power to change things for the better.
  6. Im possibly in. Would love to hear some reviews.
  7. I second that.
  8. I have a glenfield shotgun and it would be cool to have a glenfield lever to go along with it. Thanks for this thread. I am going to add one to my wish list.
  9. Time for an update! I received my HCP in the mail today. Its so nice to see it. Yipee! Can't wait for the mandatory walmart walk tomorrow. I have to find some more ammo anyways!
  10. All I have to add to this is that I can't stand Letterman. I have never seen a more pompous, arrogant prick than David Letterman. He insults his guests, degrades his audience and constantly displays a holier than thou attitude. I have never understood why he is on television and will never understand why people like him.
  11. I have a CMMG midlength. I was given a bunch of parts for it by a friend that included some useful stuff (Aimpoint, H&K mags) and some stuff that I can't use (carbine length rail). I still need to get my rail for it and a Magpul AFG and I'll be pretty happy with it.

    1911 Help

I had thought about that but I have always been really good at reading manuals and things like that and have already learned how to disassemble and reassemble the pistol.

    1911 Help

Yeah that's them. I try to stay away from there as much as possible. That doesn't sound boring at all. And as soon as I find some, I fully intend to spend a day at the range with about 1000 rounds. Since, this will be my primary carry piece, I want to be very familiar with it.

And I would highly recommend staying away from there. Cant stand them and they are typically priced for Memphis.

    1911 Help

I think that is kinda the plan anyways. I am likely going to be sending this one to SA for some work.
  16. The .22 mag with shotshells is a great idea!
  17. Rumor has it that the case will be available in February. Can't wait!

    1911 Help

I picked up a SA loaded over the weekend and it is a second or third hand gun. Everything appears to be in good shape other than being a little dirty. But... The trigger. There are a couple of things that bother me about the trigger. First is it has a little bit of play side to side and top to bottom. Is this normal? Its not a lot but it is enough to bother me a little. Secondly, it is the silver trigger is a bit dirty. I want to replace it with a black trigger. How hard is that? Completely new to the 1911 so I appreciate all the advice I can get here.
  19. I should probably amend my statement. I won't trust my life to it because I have too many other quality weapons to chose from. However, when it was the only pistol that I owned, it sat on my nightstand. I trusted it then and still would but only because it has served me well as a plinker.
  20. I have polycarbonate lenses but where I am shooting requires actual safety glasses. Not entirely. My previous schedule didn't allow me to wear contacts since I was working more hours in a day than the contacts were meant to be worn. I was wearing them out too quickly. Since my second job let me go, I can go back to a normal schedule and start wearing them again but I just havent yet. I probably will in April when I go back for a checkup but until then, I want to get some shooting glasses. Plus, I always need a backup.
  21. As an owner of a Hi-Point, I will argue that one. I have never had a failure out of mine and have put at least 1000 rounds through it. Its ugly, clunky, heavy and I still wouldnt trust my life to it but it hasnt given me a reason to call it unreliable.
  22. Felony offense of perjury. Sounds like something you definitely dont want.
  23. I'm sick of wearing those stupid plastic over the eyeglasses protective things. My question to you is, what are you using? I don't want to spend 250 or more on prescription shooting glasses and have seen the kits with the little drop in prescription thing that are much cheaper but they look unnatural. I need a good solution that will allow me to see and keep me protected but not cost more than some of my guns. Thanks!
  24. It was 42 cents per round. Around twice as much. I clean my guns after shooting as well but I am very overly cautious, slightly OCD, extremely paranoid individual. I don't care that it is a 100 dollar gun. If I screw up on cleaning and have to replace my gun because of a silly mistake, then I'm going to be pissed. I'm not saying that I will never buy surplus ammo, just saying that right now, I'm too scared to.
  25. Things like this are why I just paid alot more to buy new factory ammo.
