Many people might say that Memphis is a toilet. If Memphis is a toilet, then West Memphis is the septic tank.
  2. Nah. Cochran is dead.
  3. Doesn't sound stupid at all. I was excited about them releasing it but I got sick of waiting and went with rails. But like I said, I'm going to tear this apart and build a SASS setup instead.
  4. EBR = Enhanced Battle Rifle. this is an M14EBR.
  5. No. The Magpul handguards are designed to use the m4 style handguard clip thingies. Sorry, I don't know what its called. Those will be in the wrong place. You could put a free float mid-length tube like a railed forearm over a carbine gas system though. You would just need to get a low profile gas block.

    You have no idea.
  7. That looks great. ALMOST looks like an M14EBR. Almost.
  8. I'm not worried about the price of my frame and whatnot because if push ever came to shove, I could always just go to 45. The nice thing about doing it this way is that I could switch over. Plus, I can build it exactly the way I want it. I'm not sure how I feel about the slide locking back. I don't consider that a deal breaker necessarily. My 10/22 doesn't lock the bolt back and I love that gun.

Attention all! This is a public service announcement. West Memphis Arkansas is in no way related to Memphis Tennessee. Memphians in no way claim any relation to the city across the bridge. Please pass this information on to all of your contacts and inform the media. Geography was clearly not a strong point for our reporting friends.
  10. A carbine length is ~7 inches. That is what will work with the current MOE handguard. A mid-length gas system is ~9 inches. Magpul is releasing MOE handguards for this later this year. Look at the pictures to see how much of the barrel is covered and you can see the difference. I don't know much about the performance difference between the two. I just prefer the look of the mid-length system. Also, both uppers in this thread already have a front sight so you can take that off your list. Or, you can get a railed gas block and use the magpul flip ups instead of the FSB.
  11. Has anyone ever built a dedicated 1911? I have been thinking about doing exactly that. I know that there are a few options out there like the Chiappa 1911-22 or to just buy a conversion kit but I don't want the lack of after market of the Chiappa and don't care for conversions since they aren't dedicated. I was thinking that I could build a frame to my specs so it would be exactly like I wanted and then throw one of the conversion kits on it permanently. Which kind of brings up a few questions. Conversions range from 200 to 600 bucks. Anyone have any experience with them and what would you recommend? I want something with a threaded barrel or something with a barrel that I can thread after the fact because I do want to run a suppressor on this.
  12. I think I may be confused then. Are you wanting a mid-length upper or a carbine upper?
  13. No sir. Look at your link and mine at the same time. My link is a Midlength gas system and yours is a carbine length. I know they look the same but they are different.
  14. This upper is a carbine length gas system and would work with the MOE kit. This is a mid length upper. The gas system is two inches longer on this one. (mid-length is my personal preference). Spikes Tactical Complete Mid-Length 5.56/.223 Upper Receiver My personal rifle. CMMG lower, CMMG lower parts kit, CMMG midlength upper with 16 inch barrel, YHM midlength handguards, harris bipod, hogue grip, Aimpoint CompM2. I am most likely going to completely change this rifle soon. I am going to use an 18 inch bull barrel, scope it and put on a rifle length handguard to completely cover the gas block and then do a Magpul PRS stock.
  15. Just realized that you need to wait on that kit. You are ordering a mid length upper so the handguard in that kit would be too short. Plus, the magpul midlength MOE handguard isn't going to be out until later this year.
  16. YES! That MOE kit is fantastic. Go for it!
  17. Submitting the article to Digg. TN Senate overrides veto of guns bill
  18. I think you have a great list there but... Is there any reason that you are choosing a commercial stock? You will have more options (should you decide to change later) if you run a mil spec tube.
  19. I turned the stream off after the vote but I haven't left the thread. Great discussion here!
  20. I emailed Jackson thanking him and requesting a copy of his speech. I hope he replies. I would love to read his speech again and possibly post it on facebook and here.
  21. House Go for it. He works for you. You have the right to tell him exactly how you feel.

  23. Will be sharing as well!
  24. Your stream is faster than mine. BUT YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, is it possible that this makes it through the House today?
