I think you misunderstand me. I am more out to be an educator. Honestly, I would love to teach a class on American government. My idea here is to be a grassroots candidate that gets out to the people in his district and informs them. Creating an awareness that wasn't there before. ONLY my district, which is pretty small really. If that changes people's perception of government, spreads and "changes the game," so be it but that is not my goal. I currently work in music distribution. I am well aware of the importance of proper marketing. I am also an Eagle Scout. My Eagle project was to make sure that every residence in the city of Millington had a smoke detector. I spent weekend after weekend organizing this and worked with the Millington Fire Department. Several troops helped out and the boys from those troops and myself knocked on doors and explained fire safety. If the home was not equipped with a smoke alarm, the MFD would come and install one of the alarms that I secured through donations. I am well connected in my community through past service projects and while not a celebrity or anything, I know lots of people. For a local position like this on the state level, I do believe that I could put in a decent showing. You might not know me in Nashvegas (where is that again?) but plenty of people in my neighborhood do know me.

Traveler's Insurance lies to the victims of accidents.
Capbyrd replied to Ebow1's topic in General Chat
I understand that some girl on the phone told you were going to get some money but... Traveler's isn't in the wrong here. Traveler's isn't going to pay for Domino's policy. Domino's is wrong for having that policy but you agreed to it at some point during your employment. I'm afraid that this is a situation where you aren't going to get what you want. -
Well I'm not sure how I feel about this. What Kelly said was incredibly insensitive but if he was genuine when he tried to apologize, then I don't feel sorry for Bill. Brad is still hanging around but they made me sick of listening to Bill complain about Kelly this episode. Kelly has been one of the strongest shooters so far.

Sorry bubba but from what I have seen, 450 looks about normal around here. I live on .26 acres and have 13 trees. I had 14 when I moved in but I cut one down myself. I have several more that I need removed and one that needs to be cleaned out badly. I have had a lot of people over to give me estimates and for the tree that needs cleaning, it was all similar to your estimate.

Ferarri hasn't made a good looking car since the 360. The 430 grew on me but I still like the 360 better. And there are a few of us still in the states that like to turn. That's why chevy built the unattainable zr1 -
Found this snakeskin by my front door ... any ideas what kind?
Capbyrd replied to jeffmem's topic in General Chat
GRANDPA! We had a boa in one of our science classes at Craigmont. One day, her food got loose. My buddy Dustin went to get the mouse back. Well the mouse bit Dustin and he had to go get a tetanus shot. While he was gone, we drew a picture of him on the board and gave him rat attributes. He was nicknamed Rat-Boy after that and it stuck for quite a while. A few months after that, the boa and iguana were both out of their cages at the same time. They got near each other and started a small brawl. If it hadn't been broken up quickly by the teacher, the iguana would have easily killed the boa. -
I agree with everything you said except the quoted part. If I see a cop trying to arrest someone, I will NOT get involved. I may watch from the sideline but unless the baddie pulls a gun or something, I am not involved. And I would imagine that cops probably want it that way. I don't think they want a civilian stepping in.

I've never been bit by anything dangerous. But a coworker was. I mentioned in another thread that I worked a couple of summers at BSA Camp Kia Kima outside Hardy Arkansas. The camp straddles the Spring River. One side is called Osage and the other Cherokee. I worked on the Osage side but was hanging out with a friend on the Cherokee side. One of our coworkers was heading to the shower. Well the path to the shower building is gravel. He decided to make the hike barefoot. About halfway down the path, we hear a yelp and rush out to find him laying on the ground and his foot was already swelling. He was bit by a copperhead. We were able to catch the snake as well. The snake became a trophy/warning for the staff campsite on that side. The guy that got bit had a horrible reaction to it and couldn't walk for quite a while. New rules were setup. It was a rule that you had to wear boots on all trails after that. Kinda scary but made for a really cool story for him. -
Some people definitely deserve it but thats not what I mean. I think he did a good job considering. I hate that I said some of the stuff I did because I certainly don't want to seem as though I am talking bad about him.

Yeah well as long as he was fighting with her, his hands weren't free.
-
You're right. Hadn't thought of that. There still had to have been something that he could have done to get that girl cuffed more easily.
-
Exactly. She wasn't the one being talked to/arrested/cited. She had no business being involved. When she stepped in and touched the officer, she opened herself up to action from him. Now, I don't necessarily condone punching her like he did but he had to do something to take control of the situation. Its ridiculous that it took him so long to cuff the j-walker just because he was probably trying to be gentle and she was resisting. He should have just dropped her to the ground and cuffed her. At certain point, polite and gentle goes out the window and you have to treat (even women) like the criminals that they are.

Incorrect sir. Per the new law it is a misdemeanor punishable by 500 dollar fine.

Because the NRA can't see the future!

I installed a fan in my house. It throws sparks when you turn it on. I need an electrician too. haha

Haha. Indeed!

Ehhh. While I understand what you are saying, I am going to ignore your advice. The way I see it is if I can get a few people to see public office the way I see it, then I have done what I wanted. I want to make people, specifically the people in my area, understand that these people are supposed to be public servants. They are not dictators and we do have a voice. If running for office and letting the people of my area know this makes a few people, young or old, look into the role of government and the way it is supposed to work, then I will be happy. For me, it's not just about winning or being in office or anything like that. But more of an opportunity to educate people about how out elected officials should act. I can tell you now that I wouldn't be running tv ads or anything like that. I would be knocking on doors on every street and introducing myself. Getting to know the people in the district that I would possibly be representing. And when it came time for certain things to be voted on, I would be back on the streets talking to my PEERS, not constituents. I would be talking to my PEERS about how they felt. My opinion is that our elected officials are too far removed from the people to ever truly understand what we want or need. And they aren't asking us. That is the problem with our government. We vote for people and then far too often, we don't contact them or communicate with them. And that is what I would be interested in changing.

Ruger 10/22 Stainless Finish Peeled Off(NEED OPINIONS)

That stock is gorgeous! My black receiver from 1974 has a couple of chips in the paint. I think I am going to strip it and use some engine paint to get it back to black. Probably a matte or satin finish. -
Let me just say that my goal isn't necessarily in politics. My goal is to serve my community.

Thanks Sarge! Thanks Volz! I have a lot to think about and plan out for this. Luckily, I have a while to do it all too. haha

No worries man. Didn't mean to come across mean.
