I see a lot of questions pop up about how to do these in various places so I thought I would give a run down of the process for people in Shelby County. The first step should be to fill out as much of your forms as you can. You can download pdf's of forms from several sources but I prefer to have the ATF send me forms. I use their request site to order about 20 of whatever form I want so I have some extras. This is especially important for fingerprint cards since they must have the correct ORI number on them. http://www.atf.gov/forms/dcof/ Once your forms are adequately filled out, go to your bank or walmart and pick up a money order for 40 dollars. I'll explain why in just a second. After your leave the bank, take your forms and fingerprints to 201 Poplar, but not the court building. You will be going to the Shelby County Jail. The Poplar side of the building is faced with glass so so you will easily know which building it is. You are going to the R&I office. You will need to get a "No Wants/No Warrants" (background check) and the two fingerprint cards filled out here. This building is much more strict than the court building so leave your cell phone as well as your knives and guns in your car. I prefer to park at 201 Washington on the top level. Thats where all the cops park. The background check is 20 dollars and they only take money orders or cashiers checks. The fingerprint cards are 15 for the first card and 5 for each subsequent card. Also only payable by cashiers check or money order. Thats where the 40 dollar money order from earlier comes into play. You will have to wait a while for this part. In addition to handling paperwork for you, they are also handling paperwork for hundreds of criminals. Its best to get there early and you won't wait as long. Once you've gotten your print cards completed and your background check, you are going to take a hike back over to the court building of 201. Take the elevator up to the 10th floor. One side, you will see the MPD records office and across from that is the Sheriff's office. Take your Form 1 or Form 4 to the window along with your background check and just let the lady in the window know that it needs to be signed. She will pass it on to a Sergeant or Lieutenant and they will sign it and hand it back to you along with a letterhead saying that you have a clean background. Once, they wanted to ask me a few questions before they signed but that hasn't happened since. It's a pretty easy process but only if you know what to do the first time around.

I prefer the black blade myself. But they come in coyote, black, od, tan, and grey.

It is. But i've found it to be useful in daily tasks so far. And defensively, its like fighting with your hands.

Que on RimfireCentral will thread your 10/22 and set the front site back for 80 bucks. He did my 77/22 and I'm happy with it.

I know you carry a necker everyday and I just started as well. And I came across this one on the BF exchange. Its been a great necker so far. Its light enough that I forget about it. And I love the ergos on it. I love it. Its a little pricey if you compare it to like a becker bk11 or bk14. But compared to an ESEE, its not too bad since its a custom.

As far as budget goes, my current favorite folder is the Ontario Rat 1. They are around 30-35 shipped, come in lots of colors and plain or serrated. I carried one for months and converted several people to them before I got my XM18. Highly recommend it.

Had the fixed blades (and edc) out for a photo

Thanks OS. The Fletcher is the new Operator 575. Its the replacement for the Bush Operator XL. Fletcher Knives is Dylan Fletcher from season 4 of Top Shot. I've known him for about 12 years. I got a chance to hang out a little with him at Blade Show and bought one of his knives. I'll likely buy more too. This thing really is a tank. -

I really like mine but I need to undo the knots. Once I untie the knots and mushroom the ends, it will be a great grip. -
BK14 BK11 BK17 Fletcher Operator 575 BK7 Hinderer XM18

Haha. Per capita, the stats are somewhat similar.

777 started shipping last week. And now that I've handled one, I think I need it

Fixed to represent my opinion.

They are awesome people. What I left out in the story is that I took my mom with me. She is recovering from a broken ankle and has bad knees so she couldn't walk around the place all day. So I pushed her around in a wheelchair. She is now also a Hinderer fan and is in love with Damascus. She had a great time as well. She already ordered a Rainbow Kershaw Leek for herself. It truly was a fantastic weekend.

I posted mine in the Blade Show thread. Check it out. I also picked up a blem BK11 and blem BK14. I ordered a BK7 when I got back home.

I filled up Friday for 1.76 a gallon cause of 1.40 off. Love Kroger's promotion. The way we do it though is to buy the visa gift cards. That way we can use them anywhere.

So basically there are going to be tons of 2015 owners selling off their IRS for a solid axle. Tons of cobra owners do it already. You can't please everyone. And there is nothing wrong with a live axle. its a lot of fun to race one.

If you were at the Saturday lottery, I was the first name they called that was actually there. I was in shock for a minute. It was awesome. As for the Fletcher, I've known Dylan for about a decade now. So buying one of his knives was a no brainer. Post pics of the knife you picked out.

So I went to blade show to try and win a chance to buy a Hinderer XM 18. The first three names were bogus or absent. Then they called the fourth name, "Chris Byrd." My heart nearly stopped! So excited. It was a fantastic experience. I was able to get the knife I picked out from Rob Orlando's blade show preview. I know its just a production model and most people probably would have gone for the customs but I chose this as my daily carry knife and as a user. So here is the knife, my hat and a Fletcher Operator 575 that I picked up right after the lottery. And I didn't really dig the light grey scale so I bought the Blue/Black scale to put on it. The reason that I chose this knife, was the blasted/anodized lock side. I love this look. And Rick himself was kind enough to install my scale for me. (I consider this above and beyond). And I just happened to look behind him and I noticed the dry erase board that Rob had mentioned for daily drawings. Down at the bottom was my username. So I said, "That's my name." Everyone just kinda looked confused until I pointed out what I had seen. I waited for Rob O. to get back and he handed me a brand new Copper Investigator Pen. This thing is great. So overall, it was an absolutely incredible first Blade Show experience. I'm so glad that I made the trip down from Memphis. It was worth every second of the drive. I want to say thanks again to all of the Hinderer crew. It was great to meet and speak with Rob, Rob, Rick, and everyone really. From the time I spent with them today, I'd say that they are all a bunch of stand up guys. Can't wait to see everyone again.

Latest Class III: Guesses on Wait Time
Capbyrd replied to Semiauto's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Simple... Forms aren't always processed in the order that they are placed on the desk. The examiner could have knocked over some stuff and got them out of order. If you take a LARGER sample than just you and your buddy, the general consensus is that both are about the same in wait times. download the spreadsheet from NFA tracker and check the data. -

I do not have a trust. Having a trust or going the individual route has no bearing on wait times anymore. It used to make a difference but not any longer. -

The entire government is under a hiring freeze. You are aware of that, right? Even if they wanted, they couldn't "staff up." Secondly, 6 months isn't the magic number. Its around 7-8 months now. And its getting worse. The number of forms is increasing at a rate that they can't keep up with. They are moving some people around and giving assistants to the examiners but thats not gonna be a big help. -

My comment has nothing to do with the price of the stamp. I'm tired of hearing people say that they are deliberately holding applications just because a few came back in exactly 6 months. Its garbage. And so Dolomite used research, logic and common sense to explain it to the guy and the fella calls Dolomite a government employee. He is apparently allergic to reason. -

I don't care for seeing two guys kissing either. But the guy did it for him and his family and not for us so I don't care. The dancing jews was hilarious.
