  1. I may be out of line here but this is something that has been on my mind all night.   It sounds a lot like you are trying to get us to be happy about this "compromise."  For me, I'd rather see a politician stand up and fight for something, even if it kills it than to write off his own bill.  I also think its garbage that Rep. Dennis couldn't answer a question about his bill.  I know that Dennis wasn't the original author and that he was only brought on to take it through the House but he could have at least done the research.  Watch the Senate videos and see how well Bell represents the arguments and then watch Dennis in the House.  In comparison, I'm not even sure Dennis cares about this.
  2. It's an amendment. You need to look at the amendment section. Here is a link. http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/108/Amend/HA0443.pdf
  3. I'm just upset that the Bill's sponsor couldn't answer questions about the bill and that he is the one that presented the amendment. It felt a little like betrayal.
  4. Well there is the catch.  The bill didn't really get voted on.  Rep. Dennis introduced the amendment that killed the bill before the bill got voted on.  So the full finance committee voted to adopt the amendment and then voted to pass the bill "as amended."
  5. Yes it could be reintroduced but it would be next legislative session I think.
  6. Exactly.  This is garbage.  Rep. Dennis caved to pressure from sheriffs that have no idea what they are talking about.  Its garbage.  The head of the sheriff's association was there today and he compared the sound of a switchblade to the pump of a shotgun.  Fearmongering!
  7. The state sheriff's association is trying to shut it down.  They have removed everything in the bill except the pre-emption clause.  Switchblades, autos, etc will still be illegal and the size limit is back in place.     As amended, it passed to Calendar & Rules.       I'm pretty upset right now.
  8. Probably a lot less drag for sure.
  9.     This part is in your head.  The factory coating isn't actually on the sharpened edge so it wouldn't effect edge retention.
  10.     It didn't really.  Its still in Finance committee.  If Dennis is available to present it today, it should get voted on today.
  11. Its moved through everything so far with overwhelming majority.  Finance sub was the first close vote and even it was pretty one sided.
  12. Rep. Dennis was unable to show today so this has been moved to tomorrow's calendar.
  13. I love Dave's work.  Big fan.  I was really happy when he teamed with Boker to make an affordable and readily available version for the masses!
  14. Very nice!
  15.   Plenty of makers are making Ti blades these days.  They aren't hard use blades but great for light use.  The key is to carbidize the edge.  Same as using Ti in a frame lock or liner lock.  Carbidize the lock face.
  16. So I'm an idiot.  I thought that they were saying "rolled to the hill" but it was "rolled to the heel."  They were putting it at the back of the calendar.  Makes sense.  I'll figure all of this out one day.
  17. Certainly does not hurt. It had a few a nay votes today.
  18. It was the subcommittee chair, Michael Harrison.
  19. It means that subcommittee passed it and it moves to a discussion and vote in full committee.  From there, it should go to the House floor and from there to the Governor's desk.
  20. "Item 3, House Bill 581 by Chairman Dennis.    This has been moved to the hill.  I hope I don't get writ up on the internet for this one."   I don't know what it means.  But that is what was said.
  21. I am indeed!  Same name over there.  I just haven't seen one of these pop up recently.  I'm going to post a WTB soon.   I'm currently bidding on a lifetime cove membership in the auction forum.
  22. I want the GIV Protech/Emerson from last year.  I've already started searching for one.     http://www.bladehq.com/item--Emerson-Protech-G4-Custom-CQC7-A--13501 I just looked it up and this 3rd on the agenda today.  Finance Sub is scheduled to meet at 10:30 today.
  23. I wish I had the equipment to get into stock removal.  But the truth is, nothing I make would ever be something that I wanted to keep as much as some of the custom makers out there.
  24. The choil at the end of the edge is the giveaway.
  25. I don't know if this is breaking forum rules but I want to add to the KershawGuy love.   And this is the important part.... EMAIL him for prices.  His site lists MAP pricing which is the lowest he can advertise but he can beat those prices.  He will be happy to sell it for MAP but he does sell them cheaper as well.
