    Welder/ Torch

you might watch Craigslist, or I bought a mig at a local pawn shop for a pretty good deal and it works great.
  2. whoa, when reading the title I thought this should have been under the Zombie catagory
  3. I've got too many teeth in my head to try it.
  4. For anyone that wants to pay TN sales tax on their out of state purchases, the TN dept. of revenue has a form you can fill out and submit with your remittance. Seems like if TN wanted to collect that tax the paper trail would be there for them to exploit.
  5. I always keep an eye out for a gun of some kind I pick up for cheap just in case some morons around here decide to hold a similar program. They did a year or two ago in Jackson. Figure I can make a little cash.
  6. had a Remington brass frame replica once, .44. Fun to shoot, pain to clean. Shot a pigeon out of a tree down on 8th ave. in Nashville many years ago. Surprised the hell out of me I hit him. He dropped dead as a door nail. wouldn't mind having a Colt Walker replica. Actually got to handle an original a few months ago, it's a big gun.
  7. thought I might get a companion nylon 66 for mine at an auction last year. It was beat up and rusty with missing front site. I'm thinking I might get a a good deal as no one is going to want this plastic stocked beater. --- wrong. last account I had it was headed north of $175, not to mention the tics check and $25 fee paid to the dealer handling transfers.
  8. The best comment I read on this was.. Yeah, and we're on an Obama replacement under the radar.
  9. used to, haven't in quite a while. Was a Sunday ritual in both SCCA and Porsche events for a number of years. Ran a 914/6. Still got the car just haven't driven it much. I'm actually giving it a refresh now and hope to get it back into driving condition soon, though probably not in autocrossing. What was the evo school?
  10. I ended up with some bigger chunks of rice mixed in with the smaller ones, so it's sort of does this on it's own. Nothing as big as a airsoft BB though, my rice didn't stick together;)
  11. Just tested a few out. Used an old Lee powder measure for the powder. Supposed to throw 3 gr. of Bullseye, so I left it a bit shy. They all went together pretty well, easier than trying to make a wad sit on top. Patterned ok at about 12 ft. Had two where the primer backed out slightly causing the cyl to jam. I remember having this problem years ago when trying to make some blanks. Not sure the issue, maybe the wax builds just enough pressure to set the primer back. Only a couple did it. I used cotton balls, doesn't take hardly any to hold the powder back. The wax wad makes a good hole in paper.
  12. Thought I'd make up some of these but didn't have any crushed walnut hulls. Decided the rice was too large as mentioned here. So I pulled out the wife's blender and threw some rice in. Ran it for just a few seconds and wallah, crushed walnut size pieces of rice! Maybe a few larger pieces, and a good bit of dust, but for the price it will be hard to beat. I used a flour sifter to separate the dust out. Haven't checked it for patterning, but it fits the pocketbook. I used to fire form cases using corn meal and this technique, I'll think I'll try it for these: prime the case, drop your powder, with a pencil push down a small light wad of pillow ticking (not foam rubber) -doesn't' take much- (or the cotton from a pill bottle), dump in your chopped up rice, then finish it off by pressing the end of your case into a block of wax (or an old candle) to hold everything in. I usually pressed the case in about 1/8" to 1/4 inch in and give it a twist. No crimp. Gonna try to fix up some tonight.
  13. some of the BS engines have removable brass orifices for the main jet. You can carefully remove it and see if there's crud in there. I'd suggest you strip the carb and get a can of Berryman's carb dip, about $20 at most auto parts stores. Once you've removed everything dip the carb in there over night. Pull it out and rinse with hot water and then blow it dry with compressed air. It will look new. Reassemble and you should be good to go. I'd be careful poking any metal through carb holes as it is possible to change the size. But of course it is just a B&S engine. The carb dunk will probably fix your troubles.
  14. They cast Wesley Mouch perfectly, but don't you think Leon Panetta would have been great in that role?
  15. If you liked AS you should give The Fountainhead a try. It was the forerunner to AS and while not the exact same theme, it's still a good read. Apparently there was a movie made of the Foutainhead with Gary Cooper back in the 50s. Gonna see if I can find a copy somewhere. For those of you who don't think you can wade through AS you might try the audio version, or there is also an abridged version on audio that's only about 10 hours long. I listened it it first some years ago, then got the full audio book, which is about 60 hours.
  16. agreed, I used the wrong word. A previous poster indicated the power he had seen through charity, and I don't believe she would have faulted anyone for that. But, as you point out, charity in the form the left espouses, and as presented in AS is a path of no return. There is no power in "charity" when done in this manner, and I would not characterize it as true charity.
  17. I don't remember Rand having a problem with charity or love, though she was certainly not on the faith (as in religion) bandwagon. Seems to me she advocated pure altruism, but portrayed in AS that most acts of charity had evolved into a game of defining ones self.
  18. Saw the movie tonight. It really did a pretty good job of following the book. It moved really fast. Doubt if those who haven't read the book will see it as more than a contrived set of circumstances to ditz the current administration. Without the background and character development Rand includes in the book, it's difficult to think a casual viewer would line up for the next episode. It might encourage them to read the book though. I believe they did a pretty good job overall and should be able to hold their heads high. Was disappointed Fransisco didn't have an accent. In the audio book I have, the reader does an excellent job with the accent.
  19. here's a hoot for you. I live in Lebanon, there's a subdivision here and one of the street names is "John Galt Drive"
  20. I heard that much of the dialog was straight from the book. Which is unusual for a movie. Hope they include Franscisco's capitalism speech he gave at the party, probably too long, though.
  21. Never liked ebert, and hope it's not a complete waste. I read one review of a Rand fan and he said it didn't suck, but wasn't a block buster either. Seemed generally happy with the outcome, considering.
  22. OK, who's going to be the first to post a movie review of Atlas Shrugged. Some of the Friday shows were sold out at the Hollywood 27 in Nash. I'm planning on going Tuesday.
  23. hum, thought ATF required public hours.
  24. Damn, missed it by that much!
  25. I've heard brown bears squat in the woods, but sliver bears don't
