  1. the Primary Arms have also gotten good reviews.
  2. I think you can do this with a 12 pack, but I may be mistaken. It may take a 24 pack.
  3. 73
  4. It's an experience that every gun lover should have. sort of like going to Mecca. Lots of normal stuff and some down right unusual stuff will be there and be fired. I think you can still shoot some of them for a fee. There was talk of doing away with that due to liability issues. The night shoot is particularly fun to watch. It's also a huge gun show of sorts with many of the mail order vendors there and usually some pretty good deals. Don't look for any .22 target pistols, it's more of a military stuff show, lots of parts, ammo, nothing like any of the gun shows around here. Take some hearing protection and shooting glasses. And the people watching is pretty good too.
  5. do you have a link for that video?
  6. used to shoot handgun silhouette matches with mine, probably 30 yrs. ago. Have both 10" and 14" in 7mm TCU which is a .223 case blown out to accept 7mm bullets. It's a hard shooter punches right through mild steel. Have wanted to take it hunting, but never have. Also have a 14" in .223 with a Burris 6x scope that's a nail driver. Taken my share of g.hogs with that one. And I've got a .22 mag with 1.5x scope. Cleaned out all the squirrels around my house a few years ago with it when they started chewing through the cedar siding. They go down really quick with a head shot. I think I took out 14 of em' with 15 shots over a period of a few weeks.
  7. I've got one that I've had for probably 15 years or more. Used to carry it often. Like Jimbo said, don't anymore because of better bugs out there now. But I always enjoyed shooting it. I usually buy cheap 22 ammo and don't remember having trouble with it working in the 21. It's not a plinker in the same way a larger 22 might be, but it's a fun gun. You should get one.
  8. my father in law makes deer jerky that's pretty good. He charges deer hunters some meat in exchange for hunting rights.
  9. It's one of the neatest little guns I have. I've not shot mine that much, but it was good when I did.

    ak optics

I've wondered about the heat. PA actually sells their sight as a combo package with the ultimak, so I'm guessing they figure it can take the heat. Bushnell, I don't know.

    ak optics

I've heard good reports on the primary arms that will co-witness on the ultmak rail, and as mentioned here the Bushnell will also. My question now, which should I get? Amazon has the Bushnell for $70w/free ship, PA is $80+ship. PA has 1 yr. swap warranty, not sure on the Bushnell. Have been wanting to get one of these for a while, just haven't been able to make up my mind.
  12. All good suggestions. Then after you do all that, do it again about 3 days later!
  13. Make sure the bolt is going all the way home, if it's not completely in battery the hammer might not get a good whack on the firing pin. Lube up the rails. Check bolt movement with the magazine in and with it out. If there's a difference between the two then you got mag. feed lip friction problems. This is more prevalent on the aftermarket plastic mags than on surplus metal mags. I've had to work on all my plastic mags to get them tuned in. Some even caused double taps.
  14. hum, got some .223 on the way now from that gearhog deal.
  15. The main problem with RP is that some of his comments, when taken in sound bites, can sound a little out there and off the beaten path. And the way the media is that's what they do. When his ideals are completely aired, they are perfectly logical and make the most sense of any of the candidates. I sure hope as we go along we can get more complete thoughts through the media filter and not just the half sentence sound bites. The way he is handled by the media is exactly why no ordinary citizen could ever hope to bring common sense to a political office. It seems that those who want to run and can are exactly the ones we don't need, and the ones we do need have no desire to become mired in all the crap.

  17. I watch BBC news often and watch for FALs when they show unrest in other parts of the world. You quite often still see them being used by military and police.
  18. some surge suppressors will show "fault" if they are not plugged into a grounded outlet.
  19. guess mine were imbel kits, they do take a little patience, but overall easier than an AK build. One of the posters on FAL Files is Gilllllleeee or similar. He knows his stuff. I had trouble with the bolt not being speedie enough when closing, too much friction. After reading some of his posts on receiver feed lips and modifications it works slick as snot now.
  20. I've always wanted to take one of those classes and even tried calling someone a few years ago out of the Am. Rifleman mag. but was never able to get in touch with them. Have wondered if there were instructors in TN able to provide these classes.
  21. I'd love to have one, and will, it's just a matter of time!
  22. I built two of them a year or so ago off Century receivers. Some give Century receivers low marks, but mine have both turned out good. One is a carbine with folding stock the other full length with a bipod. I still need to refinish them but they both shoot well and function perfectly and I've shot the el-cheapo steel cased ammo and some good WW whitebox. The cheapo stuff requires a good bit more gas to make things cycle properly. I've got a scope mount on the carbine but haven't decided what kind of scope to put on it. Kinda wanted a compact version. Will probably add optics to the full length version too at some point.
  23. has anybody seen the ape movie? I'd like to go see it, but without Chuck around to fill at least a minor role I'm having a hard time convincing myself to go.
  24. I used to sell them 30 years ago. Always wanted one but were just too pricey for my pocket. They even had one model that was without a rear sight for easy pocket carry. I don't remember them having a great reputation for not jambing, and I don't think any of them had grip safeties. I still think they are neat little guns, a bit heavy, but neat.
