Regardless of who "wins" in 2012 our country and our liberty looses. The R party keeps trotting out these moderate, little more than RINO candidates in order to maintain the status quo, ie. Bush, McCain, and now Romney. Any candidate that has true conservative grit they do their best to run out of town on a rail. Continuing to vote R just because they are not as bad as the opponent means we're rewarding the R party and can never expect a decent candidate that's truly interested bringing our republic back to values spelled out in the constution and declaration of independence. The Rs do not want real change in Washington or anywhere else for that matter. They are afraid of loosing the "control" on everything they've worked so hard to "achieve" What if Romney does get elected? Exactly what do you think that accomplishes? So we get an R for 4 years. Who in the heck do you think is gonna get blamed for everything the big O has done? Do you really think Romney can fix what the Big O has screwed up enough before the election in 2016? Heck no. It sets up a slam dunk Democrat for 2016. If we can pick up enough seats in the senate with some Rs that have the balls to be real conservatives, they can put the cap on any of big Os court nominees and any of the other morons he's planning to put in place. The problem is that Rs won't even act conservative when they have a chance to do so. Remember the dumbass R congress of a few years ago that decided to "share" power with the other side. We know where that got us. I don't know which moron thought up that stupid idea but they should'a had their teeth kicked in. For those of you who don't believe the R party is the real problem you don't have to look far. For example, take our own state where the Rs in charge this year changed the voting districts so that real conservative candidates they knew would run would not be able to unless they moved. You'd think if Republican is synomous with conservative they would have moved the lines to make it easier for those candidates to win. Instead they cut them out. So what's it gonna take? Just go along to get along? When the R party does a recap on the election of 2012 and sees that people will vote for anybody with an R behind their name what message does that send? I'd say the message is that we can run any candidate as long as we can paint the oposition candidate as worse than ours. This line of thinking keeps us just exactly where we are today for the forseable future. I never said anything about voting third party. That's a looser from the get go. Our system, unlike some in other countries is not designed for multiple parties, unfortunately. At this point, my vote is no on Romney, and no on the big O. And hopefully by the end of four more years the R party will get the idea that this bush/mccain/romney crap isn't going to work anymore.

I shall not and will not hold my nose just so I can vote against the lesser of two poor candidates. The republicans have not yet been in the desert long enough. Unfortunately we are all suffering and may suffer more because of it.

I never really thought I wanted one until I saw somebody toating one around at a gun show. It folds very compactly and seems to shoot pretty well. It's one of my favorites now.

They are welcome, they'll just need to mind their manners. -
I've seen dummy 06' rounds used for display guns. The ones I've seen have a hold drilled in the side of case near the head. Might find some at a gun show or military collectors show.

The Gen. Robert H. Hatton Camp 723, Sons of Confederate Veterans is planning a rededication of the Hatton monument on the Lebanon town square May 12th at 10 a.m. It should be great event with lots of reenactors in period attire and several artillery pieces. There will be several speakers and the unveiling of a bronze marker noting the 100th anniversary of the placement of the monument. Many of the General's descendants will be there along with a number of descendants of the 7th Tennessee, General Hatton's regiment. If you're interested in Civil War history in Lebanon, this will be a great event to attend. http://hattoncamp723.org/rededication.htm

I like them. I've two p32s a p11 and a 9mm rifle. I've shot the crap out of them and they have run flawlessly. I did discover that soft lead bullets loaded pretty hot will strip right through the rifling of a short barrle 9mm and you can't hit crap with it. Figured it out when I found profile shaped holes in the target! I was trying to get as heavy a slug as possible so I had cast some nearly pure lead slugs just to see what would happen. Otherwise they have all be good guns and pretty accurate.

I've heard some people will crave Twinkies after a Zombie apocolypse, but that Snow Balls are a no-go, so you might want to be really careful about which variety of Little Debbies you hord.

I keep a few cases of adult beverages on hand for possible trade goods. If you remember the guy in New Orleans that was featured on a news story during Katrina who used booze to keep his porta potty cleaned, plus other stuff. Lots of folks will do things for a bottle of even cheap juice.

an excellent safety feature, unfortunately mine does not do that. Did your reg. come from the same place? -
Converted generator to propane and natural gas
seez52 replied to bigwakes's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I have a B&S generator with a propane conversion. I've only run it an hour or two but it will power my emergency circuits in the whole house. The one I have uses a venturi plate that fits between the air filter housing and the carb, so there's not permanant modification to the carb. It has several holes and the propane is provided through these. It came with a rather large low pressure regulator. Similiar units as mine that are factory tri fuel, they say require a 100lb tank to properly run them, but I"ve used the 20lb tank on this one and it seemed to work fine. I did buy a 100lb cyl just to have on hand. Mine has never had gasoline used in it, I think its 8500 watts on gas, and probably drops down to 7000 or so when on propane. This one, if piped directly without the regulator, is also supposed to run on natural gas but I've never tried it. Natural gas has even less energy being unrefined, so it takes a big pipe and possibly a different meter at the house to provide the volume. There is one safety issue related to propane conversions. The factory ones have built in shut off valves. Conversions don't usually, so should the engine stop for whatever reason, and there's still gas in the propane tank it will continue to be provided even though the engine is no longer burning it. Meaning it's probably spilling onto the ground or floor. Propane is heavier than air so it will settle to the lowest point. -
I might be interested in a bag-o-gun for a good price. They can be tedious.

I Bought it's cousin, a model 10 I think, shorter barrel only a 10 rnd magazine, when I was 16. My dad signed for it, came from the Big K, pre walmart. Cost me $35. I shot the crap out of it. Never cleaned it and it never jambed. I could knock the heads off kitchen matches at about 30'. Always wanted to see if I could get one to lite, but never did. Unfortunately someone relieved of the little jewel some years ago during a home breakin. Gave my son a 60 a few years ago.

years ago when attending the SHOT show in Atlanta I was able to shake hands and have a few words with Slim Pickens. He has always been one of my favorite character actors. Sat at a table next to Mohamad Ali some years ago. He was there with his wife, it was really sort of pitiful. Several peple asked for his autograph and he really had a hard time doing it, this would have been back in the 80s. Though I did not get to shake his hand or personally meet him, Charleston Heston came to Nash. for an NRA meeting and I had a front row spot. He was a great american. Saw one of the local TV weather women last Christmas at a clothing store, damn she was ugly, didn't look anything like her tv-self. My son and I were almost afraid we were staring too much just because we couldn't belive the rough as a cob look. And I used to think she was ok.

paid $85 for mine 30 years ago, one of the best shootin .22s I have and I've got several. They are bringing a pretty penny these days. Went to an auction a year or so ago thought maybe I'd buy the one they had. It was really junky, missing the front site, rusty still somebody paid $200 for it.

well, did anybody go today?

Saw an ad for a gun show in Carthage. Think it was either this weekend or next. Anyone know anything about it?

make sure the saftey isn't partially being activated with your thumb knuckle. You've probably done this since you swapped the pin out, but make sure the gunkey cosomo is cleaned out of the Fpin channel.

that's what I discovered, just wondering if anyone was actually able to buy one for this price. I've got a couple of bolt carriers needing a home.

has anybody actually received a Spirit upper for $299? The link above seems dead, sounds like a pretty good deal wouldn't mind getting one if they are decent.

Thought I might go, it's usually really tight, and yes the best stuff is walking around not on the tables. I did pick up some .223 tips for a good price a while back.
