1. We always hear about the checks and balances built into our fed. gov. Legislative, executive judicial and how they are to work together to keep our rights protected. One area we never hear about is the check of state sovereignty and states rights. The constitution is simply a piece of paper with laws written on it. How are those laws to be enforced and by what authority? Are we to depend on the scotus to do this? Is the scotus even eligible to preside over.... themselves? In cases where the power of the feds goes beyond the limited and specific parameters set forth in the constitution, is someone with a vested interest really a fair arbitrator? Would the fox be a worthy council for rules governing the hen house? Certainly Thomas Jefferson and James Madison thought otherwise when they drafted the KY resolve in 1798 laying out specific remedies for states who were experiencing an overreaching fed. govt. Indeed, these founding fathers maintained that the power of federal gov. was to be placed in check by the sovereign states, pointing out that it is not possible for the fed. govt. to be its own judge when it comes to how much power it can wield. The state's job is to interpose itself between the citizens and the federal govt. to protect our rights as citizens of the states. The states have the right, ability, and duty to not only interpose themselves between the citizens and the feds. but to also nullify federal laws which overreach the limited and specific duties of the feds. It is also one of the reasons senators were to be appointed by the state legislatures rather than popularly elected as were members the house. This was in order for the people to be represented in the house, AND for the states to be represented by the senate. Unfortunately a meddling political class changed that by allowing the 17th amendment in 1913-- a dark chapter for our republic.
2. She, Beavers and the establishment TN GOP are joined at the hip.
3. as said above, plan on a full year to get back to full strength. 6 months you're pretty good, 9 months even better, but in reality it will take a year to get completely back. You'll be sleeping in a recliner for sometime. Even though insurance does not usually cover it, spend the money out of pocket for the circulating cold water ice pack. And keep it on there A LOT. You can probably get off the pain meds quicker with a lot of ice pack usage. If you're insurance does not pay for the ice pack you can pick one up on ebay pretty cheap and you'll need to take it with you when you go in for the surgery as they will want it on soon as the surgery is done. I think the DR office price was about $175 and I didn't know about it until we got there so I had to buy it from them. A good used one would be just as well. Make sure it comes with the cuff designed for your shoulder.
4. The best place to do a smack down on these "R" as in RINO candidates will be coming up in August. The PARTY hates to see incumbents challenged in the primary, and few usually are, but it's the best place to do it. I'd almost rather have a demo than a rino.
5. I had one years ago. Don't remember the brand. Bought it at a gun shop near the interstate in Lebanon, paid 40 or 45 bucks for it new. Fun to shoot nasty to clean. Shot a pigeon out of a hackberry tree about 50 ft up mite near to downtown Nashville. Deader than a door nail when it hit the ground. Surprised the crap outta me at the time. One of those guns I wish I still had. I'm going to get a Walker one of these days to sort of replace it. I was able to hold an original Walker a few months ago. Made me want one all over again.
6. And follow it up with this one...
7. we, too have a code phrase
8. While ms maggart can usually be counted on to cast a conservative vote, she sometimes votes with the party rather than with the people. Same can be said for Beavers, Black (In the US house), and most of the other incumbants. It's time to line em' up and give'em their walking papers and the primary is the perfect place to start.
9. If you will recall recent history our Big O was the first to line up along side Hugo during the presidential election mess in Honduras a couple of years ago. An early telling moment in the new US foreign policy debacle. Birds of a feather.... And how's that second term looking now folks?
10. Romney won't even take his own state.
11. Ya'll should love this, very well done. And not by the RP folks either. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?feature=player_embedded&v=-Czo5Vf8KZs
12. now we're getting to the crux of the matter. You know, the air conditioner on my truck isn't working all that well, but has been ok through most of April and May and I've been able to tolerate it. July and August are coming up, though, bet I'll have to fix it. You know, if TN weather were always like April and May bet I'd never have to fix it.
13. Seems like these people that sing the mantra of "anybody but Obama" begin to back pedal when the choice becomes RP. Just dosent' sound like they are as committed to their philosopy as they would have you believe. As long as we're willing to vote for a candidate because the other side's candidate is worse, we'll keep getting what we've been getting for the past 4 or 5 election cycles. That goes regardless of which side of the isle you stand on.
14. Humm, I always thought being underhanded meant that you didn't play by the rules? The republican party, and the democrat party too for that matter, don't really deserve much respect. They will crap on you in a heartbeat if you don't tow the line. If there is any disgrace to be handed out the parties in general should be at the front of the line. They will bend and change the rules to their advantage every time, with little regard for "we the people".
15. I do not advocate a third party. The US system of elections is not set up for third party candidates. We would have to develop somthing more along the lines of the French for anything other than a two party system to work. The RP folks know this and I know this and realize our best hope is to change the party from within. This was Campaign for Liberty's tatic beginning just after the 2008 presidential debacle. The establishement repbs. are scrambling to hang on. They've have even gone through many of the state and county party bylaws changing them to try and keep tea party and RP folks out. They re-write the rules if necessary to remain in power. the only way to take this country back is to flush out the existing Republican party leadership and replace it with leadership and candidates that believe in the constution and will up hold it. The big question is: Is the country ready for it? Have we been in the wilderness long enough to make this happen, or do we need another 4 years of the medicine Big O is handing out before we're ready for the only real cure, which is liberty?
16. This is typical republican party operation. If it's not going the establishement’s way, they will change the rules, delay the vote, disallow motions, basically whatever it takes to keep "their" candidate in place. And this is the way they do it on the state and even on the county level. It's a good ole boys club that needs to be demolished. They don't take to outsiders reading the rule book then expecting it to be followed and rasing parliamentary procedures when it's not.
17. Which came first, the tea party or RP? Does it really matter? The point is the liberty movement is gaining traction and the establishment repubs. are screaming. I personally think if it hadn't been for RP and his continual and consistent message the liberty movement would not be where it is today and the tea party would not be as strong. Some have mentioned you can't change the president alone and expect real change and that there's not enough local races being persured by liberty candidates. The liberty movement is not just a top down exercise. Well, all levels are being challenged. Maybe not in every race, but in more and more. Right here in our own state, just as is the case across the nation, libery minded candidates are challenging republican incumbants----- and winning in the primaries! The R establishment hates to loose this way. They would absolutely prefer being beaten by a dem. than a liberty minded republican. Ring out the libery message from every level. Presidential race to state house and even county gov't. We're here and we ain't leaving til the old R party has dried up and blown away. Rand Paul 2016
18. Excellent turn out for the event. A big thank you to all who attended. For some photos of the event: http://hattoncamp723.org/rededication/
19. And maybe a little less handling and we wouldn't be where we are today. oh... scratch that... we always vote for the republican no matter how bad they are as long as the party tells us the other guy is worse. Of course this is the same game plan the Democrats use on their sheep, too. Here's a question for all you Ron Paul wet blankets if you can even muster an answer. What if there were snowballs in hell and somehow RP did get the nomination. Would you support him as the Republican nominee as you seem to be willing to support Mr. Romney? Or, would you encourage Mr. Romney to run third party since obviously the nomination process was a screw up? hum....
20. It's ashame elections are little more than popularity contests orchestrated by "handlers" these days, and not ideas or common sense.
21. amen brother!
