  1. unfortunately it's likely true. And the main reason we need either term limits, or preferably repeal of the 17th amendment. Local control of Senators was the way it was designed. Their job was to represent the interests of the individual sovereign states. Seems we have forgotten that little part of the check and balance system our founders included in our representative government model. Details matter. I'm still voting for Zach Poskevitch win or loose.
  2. I could not believe he did that. Corker voted for all the bailouts and to keep borrowing!! Dang, I thought that DR was all about getting out of debt? Corker must be greasing his palm in some way or another. I certainly have much less respect for DR, he is a complete sell out.
  3. Well, if you talk to anybody really into NV they will tell you real quick to save your money if you can only afford gen 1. If you check over on AR15.com they get down right snobby about it. Are they right, I don't think so. Yes it would be nice to drop $3500 on a great gen3 unit and man they do look nice. I've got a buddy with two of them, and they are the cats meow. But I don't have the mullah or the inclination to drop a wad like that on something I'd not use every day! I ended up buying a Yukon unit about 2 years ago. Retail was $400 I found someone wanting to get rid of it for $250 so I snapped it up. Does it work like the gen3 units, heck no. Does it work, heck yes! Mine is a 1.5x scope and it's good out to about 100-125 yards on a dog sized object. It's sort of big and heavy but it didn't set me back 2-3K and it does exactly what I need for it to. I can't really get a longer shot off around here anyway. (Keep in mind using NV for hunting is strictly verboten here in TN, nothing said is meant to suggest anyone has actually hunted with such a device here. Some of us may periodically travel to TX where using NV for hunting is permitted.) I tell you what I might be inclined to save up for, and thats the Pulsar http://www.midwayusa.com/product/212793/pulsar-digisight-n550-digital-night-vision-rifle-scope-45x-50mm-multi-reticle-option-with-integral-weaver-style-mount-matte I've not seen one in person but have read a number of good reviews. BTW, I found that reviews of the lower priced NV devices are not all that reliable since may of the reviewers don't have experience with NV in general so they are easily impressed. If you can only afford gen1, go for it. There will be a market for used ones when you get ready to move up.
  4. Watch out everyone, lame duck congress coming up.
  5. I say if Poskevitch falls short on his run against Corker, he try again against Lamar. Lords knows we've got to start throwing these morons out!!
  6. from what I can tell this is the guy. He is making the rounds at local Republican events and presents himself well. There are a number of other candidates running, but none of them have shown their face around as far as I know. With that many in the primary, it's going to be tough to keep corker from getting it.
  7. Ok boys and girls, with Corker wavering on the UN. small arms treaty and all the other times he's voted with Obama we need to give this man a chance. Lets get back to the constitution. Give Zach a 7 minute hearing:
  8. I ready to pull the lever for someone else. There are several running against him, anybody got a feeling for which one might have the best chance of beating him?
  9. Ab-so-lutely!!
  10. JAB, U da man!!
  11. Amen to that! Where we are today began with Mr. Lincoln, and it's sad.
  12. He's like all the rest of them.... and should be voted out! They'll say today what works best for them at the time, and say something different tomorrow for the same reason. And just because Alexander is worse should not give anyone the idea we should keep this one.
  13. Welcome to the neighborhood
  14. Pediatric nurse practitioner asked one time several years ago when I took my boy in for a visit. Wanted to know if we had guns in the house. I told her we didn't answer questions like that, she moved on.
  15. he had my vote
  16. gooood cracker..... guess you don't remember his Ritz cracker commercials And, I guess we'll need to over look some of his political positions, seems he was never really in your face with those as some actors are today, and just say that all his superb on camera characters out weight them and leave it at that.
  17. long range can be somewhat relative. In years past we regularly shot out to 220 yards with .44 mags. and no scope. I'm not that familiar with the 454 ballistics, and I'm sure it's more impressive than the 44 mag, but with a spotting scope you could watch the .44 slugs sail through the air at that distance, it looked like someone throwing baseballs. I've always contended that pistols are just as accurate as rifles just more difficult to aim-- so have at it! I've got a couple of scoped pistols now, one with a 2x, the other with a 6x. Unless what your shootin at is small or really far away 2x is plenty.
  18. First off, compromise is highly over rated!! Second, when did we roll over and put the fox in charge of the hen house? The constitution is a piece of paper espousing laws, limitations etc., that's all it is— a piece of paper. Down at the local courthouse there are shelves of laws and limitations. And that's all they are, books of paper. And when you break one of those laws down at the courthouse, say speeding for example, there is a mechanism in place to insure that law is properly enforced. It's called a cop. It's not a judge that can opine whether you were speeding or not, it's an enforcer of the law, not an interpreter of the law. Yes, you were speeding, you can't do that, here's a ticket pay your fine. Where the judge comes in is setting the fine, and delivering justice according to the law. But we seemed to have forgotten, or for some reason allowed, the supreme court to take the place of this cop when it comes to enforcing the constitution. This is where the fox running the chicken house comes in. How is it possible that a court can rule on itself? Can the government rule on the government? We would never let this stand for lower court rulings. A judge cannot judge himself, but we let the SCOTUS do just that. The founders intended for the sovereign states themselves to be the "cops" insuring that the federal government stays within it's constitutionally limited scope. Our system works on a series of checks and balances with the states themselves being the final authority on what is constitutional and what is not. Jefferson and Madison both explained this in 1798 when they penned the Ky. resolves. Until we wake up and rediscover the sovereign states' ability, their duty, their absolute charge to hold reign over the federal government, the federal government will continue to expand, grant itself powers and privileges all the while diminishing our freedoms and liberty. The constitution is just a piece of paper. The founders were well aware of this. They knew an unchecked federal government could grant itself whatever it wished. They put cops in place to keep it in check. When are we going to put the "cops" "back on the beat?" States rights and state sovereignty is our only hope. How can we re-discover it?
  19. he was a Goooood cracker!
  20. I second RIG. does not take much and I've used it for years.
  21. I've got a few, junky RGs, and other poor excuses for guns piled in a box just waiting for a juicy buy back program around here. Most local ones seem to be a puny pair of sports tickets of some type. $100 or $125 cash gift cards I might just jump. It would be the best way to turn some junk into a nice pistol.
  22. Bullseye, PapaB. We need to do some sort of a re-boot so we can get back to the original structure of the Constitution.
  23. I've know two folks that played around with one. One commented that it worked pretty good, the other it didn't work at all. I'd guess it depends on how close you are to a cell tower. Heard they were ordered straight from china. That may also explain why they didn't work all that good.
  24. I had a brass frame Remington just like yours. Had a lot of fun with it. kinda nasty to shoot but it makes a great sound and was pretty accurate.
  25. If the states are indeed the final check of the over reaching power of the federal govt. then what final remedy do these sovereign states have other than the ability to secede? Prior to the civil war a number of states threatened to secede over federal govt. encroachment of over reaching power. The feds backed down. I believe today the sovereign states still retain the power to protect the citizens and limit the federal govt. as originally intended by the founders and demonstrated by the actions of Jefferson and Madison in 1798. Unfortunately, its been so long since we exercised this function of our government it has become stiff and full of arthritis. Mr. Lincoln set the erroneous example that it could not be done, but he did not change anything to keep it from occurring again. Lincoln: "If the South goes, how do we pay for the Government?" Jefferson Davis: "All we wish is to go in peace."
