1. Welcome neighbor
2. Dang, Beech Bluff. I used to call that 20 miles from nowhere, but Jackson has grown into a right respectable town these days.   I've got kin that live there. Welcome!
3. Like'em or not, they are the 800 pound gorilla in DC and without them the other pro gun organizations would have very limited ability to make anything happen.   Keeping our powder dry at this point seems a prudent measure. Emotions are so inflamed that no logical answer can be agreed upon regardless of what it has to do with-- guns, mental health, poor school security, society in general etc.   The best thing each of us can do is be familiar with the facts and calmly espouse them if we're in a position to do so. Standing on a soap box will come later.
4. I'm guessing both saw it as an opportunity to make points with some segment of the market they felt they needed to attract. They got top billing on the national news, mission accomplished.   I've never found a use for Dick's.
5. Unfortunately mine does not have a number in that location.
6. I've got a 12 ga. Model 12 that's in pretty decent shape. Full choke plain bbl. It was my grandfathers gun, probably hasn't been shot in 40 years.   I'd like to sort of get a little history on the gun, so I'm looking for a serial number. Seems like I've seen the number on these under the bottom just in front of the loading port and also on or near the magazine tube. This one does not have a serial number I can find. Looks like it has the original finish, there's just no number I can see. Is there possibly another location where a serial number might be located? I thought all Winchesters had serial numbers even back with shotguns were not required to have them?
7. Former sheriff Ashe was always good on approving class III paperwork, anybody had occasion to check out new sheriff Bryan yet?
8. And you-all thought I was being sleazy. Even here the veil is beginning to be lifted. Dirty politics, thy name is MB
9. While it would be difficult to knock her conservative voting record, there are other issues involved. Issues which have more wide ranging affect than just a vote on a bill. The good news is the veil is beginning to come off, and her true character is being seen by more and more. Her welcome is beginning to wear thin both inside the party and out.
10. Usually use Unique but can't say its real clean, of course I'm loading cast slugs with a grease groove. Might try Bullseye
11. Beavers has begun to do more harm than good. The sooner she's replaced at all levels the better.
12. I'll start. S&W 5 screw in .38S&W
13. It will be interesting to see if the state interposes itself between the feds and its citizens as they should and indeed have the obligation to do. We will see if the principles of '98 prevail.
14. Pee on it
15. The first few I shot through my FAL got stuck and I had a heck of a time getting the bolt open. I opened the gas knob a little more and it seems to function well. Don't know about the accuracy
16. Something along these lines is our only hope. I also heard on the news this morning that 1 state has legalized marijuana. Putting aside opinions on the use of marijuana, it is a step in the right direction for state for states rights, nullification and upholding the 10th Amendment.
17. Welcome to the neighborhood!
18. If you're using a serialized receiver there's not much in the way of tools needed.
19. Garufa said it, burn it to the ground clear away what's left and start over. The quicker the better Putting the big O back in only makes it come more quickly. Its going to require that the repubs. remain lost in the desert before they come around, let's just hope it doesn't take 40 years.
20.
I view the various iterations of the Confederate flag not as equivalent to a swastika but, rather, as equivalent to the Don't Tread on Me flag and the original Stars and Stripes. The men who fought in the Revolutionary war owned slaves but that doesn't mean the war was 'about slavery'. It just means that King George III wasn't sneaky or deceptive enough to make slavery an issue in the war - unlike one Abraham Lincoln (even though Lincoln, himself, had already said that he didn't care about freeing the slaves.) Honestly, I think both wars were fought for very similar reasons - a group of people felt they could no longer abide the treatment they were receiving at the hands of the authorities of their government and so they endeavored to win their freedom from said oppressive government and create a government that was more in keeping with their ideals. The biggest difference, to my mind, is that the Colonials won and the Confederates did not. For that reason, and because I, too, have ancestors who died fighting for the cause represented by those flags, I will respect them and display them whenever and however I please. If someone else doesn't like it, thinks it is equivalent to a swastika or whatever then they are cordially invited to kiss my butt. I couldn't care less what other people think of me.
Well said! Deo Vindice
21.
The first major erosion of that principle happened when the hoi polloi stated electing its senators in 1913. - OS
Yep, there was a lot tinkering going on during that time that has resulted in where we are today. None of it for the better. The Federal Reserve comes to mind as well with fractional reserve banking and fiat currency.
22.
How is the fed going to take action against a state, other than holding back money? Send troops in? Nullification can work if ever tried. I wonder how many states it would take to assert before the feds would get the message? No teeth until states step up to the plate.
You are right. Nullification is the rightful remedy. The states' duty is to interpose itself between the citizens of the state and the Fed govt when it goes beyond its constitutionally limited powers. The states ability, their duty to interpose, is one pay grade above even the SCOTUS. If several states would grow a pair many of the issues that have brought these petitions would go away. States were never intended to be simple subdivisions of a larger entity, but rather powerful protectors of our individual rights.
23. It's unlikely the Rep. Establishment will allow a challenger in the primary. God knows we need one.
24. Somebody post it up, I'll sign it!
25.
I'm thinking a Tenth Amendment reassertion of State Sovereignty is more apt to work out,
I'm all for that. It's the forgotten check in our check and balance system. But does it really have any teeth without the possibility of consequences when a state declares a law unconstitutional and the feds push the matter? What's the state going to do?
