Road show was in Nash about 15 years ago. A lot of folks showed up. My wife took some cartoon drawings and a friend that went with us took a civil war pistol. Both of them ended up getting featured on the show. My wife's turned out good with a $750 appraisal for something she gave $10 for. My friends not so much. They told him the pistol was a fake. If I remember the appraiser was the same one later charged with duping others. If they decide to put you on air they won't tell you a thing about your item until the camera is rolling. I remember having to wait a while in the green room before shooting the interview.

OK, I'm guessing this thread has been underwritten by Jim Beam or Jack Daniels. I can't imagine thinking about nose hair this long.

RCBS bullets or bucks rebate... now bucks only
seez52 replied to seez52's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
They sent my check for shipping back uncashed along with the note. I had ordered the .308s, wonder if they are still honoring the pistol bullet rebates? -
I bought enough rcbs stuff to qualify for either $50 rebate or 500 bullets. Bullets seem like a better deal so I choose that. Got a note in the mail today says they are not honoring the bullet rebate any longer, but I can submit the $50 cash rebate. Kinda sucks.

Magpul floods Colorado market with mags.

Rub their noses in it then vote all the baffoons out of office. Go magpul. -
Peening it could make it a little longer if that would help.

The more all this sort of stuff comes out the more one wonders. Wonders (yes 6.8) if Alex Jones is right more times than not, and maybe DHS is buying up all the ammo so we can't get any. When that was floated around I thought "no way that's crazy" now it's beginning to look more like it's in the realm of possibility.

I think you're on to something. I'm guessing by end of the week.

As I watched the news on TV they were showing a quick video of the guns the shooter had. One caught my attention so after looking a little on line I found this... So is this a BP pistol? Or a BP pistol converted to modern ammo with one of those extra cylinders. Don't think I've ever seen one turn up in a crime scene before. Also noted what looked like a pistol mag in one of the photos, but haven't seen mention of any handgun. I'm guessing some in his family were not as devout as others and they paid the price. Apparently his mother is "out of the country" and can't be reached. Wonder which country she's in?

Philippines gunsmiths emerge from underground

I love their firing range -
Bought a S&W Model 19 when I was 18 years old. Paid $200 for it which was probably a little on the high side at the time but it was sweet. This single gun probably accounts for most of my hearing loss. I've still got it.

I've got a fellow I've used a good bit. He did all my interior trim, most of it stained. He's very consciousness and does top notch work. Each door and most window frames in my house required 16 individual pieces he did them all and they still look great. I won't say he's the cheapest, but you're unlikely to be disappointed. Pm me if you want his number

Hey Low, That's good info. These are two I built a few years ago and they do have the pencil barrels. One I converted into a para with short bbl. and folding stock. I've always thought they were neat rifles and solidly built. Haven't shot either of these much but both seem to work fine. Iron sights on both for now. Did put a DSA rail on the para but have not decided what kind of optic for it yet. Considered a 1-4x just haven't gotten around to deciding which one. I figure they are both 300 yard battle rifle guns, so the ammo is just for blastin' although I don't normally go out and do "blastin" it's more like serious plinkin. I can easily ring a gong at 300 with the irons, but it's a pretty big gong. It's hard to buy any ammo for what I'll have in this. I'll probably load up a couple thousand, but likely won't shoot it up for a while.

No problem, I have four manuals now and while they do provide a variety of loads I was just wondering if anyone here has a favorite powder for a typical service load. Usually I'll go through and work up a load for a specific gun using the manuals as a starting point, but in this case I'm not really interested in customizing ammo for a specific gun but rather trying to match a 7.62x51 service load using an easy to flow powder. Looks like 4895 is pretty popular, is it an extruded powder? How does it meter through a measure?

I ended up getting a good quantity of 150s at a good price so that's what I've got. Also have a load of pulled tracers but can't remember their weight, probably 147gr. I really haven't shot either of these to know what they like best. I did try some Brown Bear steel case and while it shot ok, I had to really crank up the gas as compared to some factory WW white box.

I have seen a number loads for Varget and a buddy of mine really likes it in his bolt gun. Read a couple of posts elsewhere that it produces more gas that other powders, who knows. I'm thinking I might need to use the fastest burning powder of those recommended for .308 since I'm going to be shooting them in both a 21" FAL and a 16"

I used to see 8# cans of surplus powder available from time to time, haven't seen any lately. Was wondering if it's still available and what kind of powder it is/was. H335 and BLC2 look interesting as I use BLC2 for my .223 loads.
-
I'm getting ready to load up a supply of .308 for a couple of FALs. Over time I've picked up cases, primers and some 150 gr tips but haven't got a clue where to start with a powder. I'd like these to be a good service load so they function well. Any load suggestions? Would also be nice if it was an easy to meter powder going through my progressive press.

local pawn shop had a couple of anvils, not in the best of shape and wanted $300+ for each of them.
