the Nashville rental market is really tight right now. It's hard to get anything in the way of a house. The dogs will be a problem, some places are going to say no, others will ask for $350 ea. extra on the deposit and likely some addl. monthly for them. $800-900 is not going to be a beauty of a place, but maybe doable. I know of a house that's being fixed up for rent now, will probably be ready in about 60 days located in Old Hickory. It's probably going to be in the $1000 maybe a little less range. 2BR, 1BA nice detached garage and room for dogs with fenced back yard. Not a bad area, the pricing is typical of what you'll find in Davidson County. Most real estate agents (unless they are the leasing agent for the property) won't fool with helping you find a place to rent as they hardly make anything on rentals, a lot of times $100. Be careful checking Craigslist for rentals. A high percentage are scams. You might try hotpads or other online listings, but be really careful with Craigslist.

You'll need an atty. to navigate the process. I would recommend one that specializes in real estate law as a matter of their business. They should be able to help you more easily than a general atty. that would only occasionally do real estate. Depending on the property if your mother needs additional income it might be possible for her to get a reverse mortgage on the property that would pay her every month. Some people think they are scams, but if you're dealing with a reputable mortgage broker they can help seniors that have limited income streams, but who have real property assets.

Third parties as spoilers & the VA governor's race
seez52 replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
As much as I would like it I don't believe a third party will ever have much of a chance unless there are changes in the way elections are conducted. With the way the electorial college works, and I'm fine with that, unless we instite some sort of run off contest on elections. If a single candidate cannot get 50% then the top two go at it again for a short window completely funded with public money. Say 6 weeks. Then non mainstream parties might have a shot. -
80% build party in Chattanooga. Let's make it happen!

Drill presses will literally come apart when putting side loads on them. Trust me. -
I had a can of IMR that went bad. It had been stored like all the others I've got, but there was a lot of brown on the powder. I don't remember giving it the sniff test, but it didn't look like a good idea to use so I scatter it out in the yard. It could have been rust residue from the metal can, don't know. It's was nearly full.

I've got a new Holland and it's been a good unit. When I was shopping it seemed the JD and the bobcats where higher priced for pretty much the same thing. Never used any of the others so I really can't compare. They are handy as can be. Originally thought I'd buy it then sell if off when most of my house construction was done and get a tractor with a bucket. But, really can't imagine a tractor being as useful or a replacement for a skid steer. We finished the house about 7 years ago and I've still got it even though I don't use it much. When you need it though, it's hard to beat.

Tools and guns passed from one generation to the next are some of my most treasured possessions

yep, sorry Square Trade. Before I purchased this last Frigidaire unit I read through a bunch of reviews, and adding the ext. warranty from square trade was really the only way to go on a dehumidifier. I've not had to try out the warranty yet, but according to others it was worked pretty smooth for them. I couldn't decide whether to get the 3 year or 4 year, but I've never had one last past three years so I chose that one. I keep my units plugged in most year round and with direct drain connection so they see pretty good usage. I didn't look around at the time for any discount codes on the square trade warranty, but that's a good idea. At the time I thought you had to get the warranty and item at the same time and it was an Amazon deal, but I guess that's not the case. I also settled on the Frigidaire unit as opposed to the others, a lot of them are made by the same company with just different names on them. This one works great. It has a better hookup for the constant drain hose than some of the others I've had. The only thing I didn't really like about it is that the fan runs a lot without the compressor running. I've got mine in a storm room so it's pretty blocked off and I don't hear it, but would probably be annoying if it were in a living space. When you think about about it, it probably needs to have the fan run a lot in order to monitor the humidity level. PS. When the freon gets low they start freezing up even with clean filters. On a positive note, the last LG unit I bought had a 5 year warranty. They don't offer that anymore. It was about three years old, maybe less when it went belly up. I think it sat in my basement 6 months before I tried to submit a claim. I submitted a claim to LG and they sent me a refurbished one pretty quickly. It came out of Huntsville. Was surprised at the quick response. The last time I dealt with them on one it was a nightmare, but finally got a replacement one then as well (the replacement went bad about 18 months later). These are all just cheap Chinese junk. I've gotten to where I just tape the receipt directly to the unit so I can easily find it when it goes bad.

I've been thru about 4 or so these small units. They are all made in china and usually last just longer than the warranty. Most repair shops won't fix and are considered throw away units. I've had 3 LG units 70 pints and a may tag unit. I regassed the may tag unit and its still going but it uses r22 which is sky high now so when it goes I'll probably just throw it out. New ones use 410a refrigerant. By far the best deal is to get one off Amazon and also purchase a Square Deal extended warranty. I bought a 45 pt. Frigedair unit and a 36 mo warranty. I'm not usually into extended warranties, but for these Chinese junk items its really the only way. When the unit dies, and it will, Square Deal refunds your purchase price, nothing to return nothing to get fixed.

you might try pulling out 3 or 5 other bits from your set and putting them in a drawer somewhere, that way that one empty hole doesn't weigh so heavily on your mind.

Price of lead (And price of bullets?) going to go up?
seez52 replied to a topic in Ammunition and Reloading
If anyone is interested, government liquidation often has bulk lead for bid. It's usually located at one of the ship yards. I have not followed any of the bid lots as they are usually pretty large. -
1919a6 with a crank and a couple 200 round round belts would do the trick

I wondered about solar. Just haven't checked into it yet. Some of the outdoor cameras have internal heaters apparently so I'm guessing they may use more current than a standard old camera.

looks like lots of people are thinking cams. I've been doing a little research and like others would like to view over my phone. I'm only wanting 2 cameras, at least for now. Problem is one camera is about 300 ft. from the house, and the second one is about 1200'. The farthest one away I'd like to point at the entrance to my driveway which is an additional 1300' ft. away, but I do have a clear view from the camera location. My concern has been would I actually be able to see anything 1300 ft away? And, what's the best hookup. I've already got buried conduit. Would have to run one overhead for about 400ft. I could use either cat5 or coax, there is no power at either camera location. suggestions or links? thanks

I say lets do this... http://www.wnd.com/2013/10/is-red-state-america-seceding/ as he states, it doesn't have to be ugly. Others have done it successfully and peacefully.

I've always wanted one of those.

I think you're right on here. It did look in the video like the bikers forced him to exit by blocking his ability to merge back into the through traffic, but I may have miss looked at the video. Still, his best weapon was his vehicle. It was reported that once stopped in traffic his tires were slashed. I'm thinking even a big vehicle like that I could have seen the traffic backup ahead and planned to do a U turn or at least, even after tires being slashed, just start backing up making bikers scatter. Just because there's one or two "he men" on a bike doesn't mean they are all that way and once they start bouncing off the fenders or under the floor pan fewer are likely to decide this is their cup of tea.

As far as I'm concerned it can stay shutdown until the next election. Won't happen but what will happen is that the longer it goes the more we'll see just how petty big O and the democrats can be. Barricading parking lots of private tourist attractions, blockading open air attractions on DC, removing pump handles from water supplies along a bike route... on and on and on. Eventually all this will mount as the BS it is. Had mr. O crafted and submitted a budget to start with this would probably be completely different, but he didn't and the more it drags out the better. The other thing that irritates the crap out of me is when everyone decries that the ACA was passed through congress fair and square. Well, I guess you can call it that, but if I remember correctly it was passed on Christmas eve near midnight or some other such shenanigan. --- same way the Federal Reserve system was pushed through congress in 1913 or whenever it was. They do this crap under the cover of darkness and when they think the fewest people will be watching. They are all a bunch of cockroaches and deserve more than just being voted out of their positions of tyranny, tar and feathers would be more appropriate.

Sometimes at auctions, guns or anything else, the cheap stuff goes high and the good stuff which should fetch a good price goes for decent money if you're in the market.
