  3. or for government buy backs, he he he...
  4. I'd look at Wilson county, Mt. Juliet or Lebanon. It fits all your criteria pretty well. Prices are still pretty good and there's a good variety of homes.
  5. I used a 243 for varmints years ago and it worked great. Only issue was that boy was it loud. I bet a 44 would take down a yote as well!! Elmer Keith used a 44 pistol for about anything you can think to hunt.
  6. but you can send it back for free if you don't like it.
  7. I seem to remember black powder lasting longer than smokeless.
  8. I thought our legislature outlawed candle lanterns?
  9. I wonder if the ATF technical services branch has issued an opinion on this yet?
  10. I have a Sons of Confederate Veterans tag and you are not required to be a member to get one. I have had to correct one of the workers when I went to get one for a second vehicle. Not sure of its different for other organizational tags or not. Would seem pretty dumb if so. The purpose is to raise money not identify members.
  11. Good buy. You'd be hard pressed to build one like that for close to the money
  12. http://guns.buzz/2015/01/31/is-this-a-silencer-atf-says-yes-but-sig-sauer-is-fighting-the-unelected-bureaucrats-in-court/   go get’em Sig
  13. "public safety" is the slippery slope part
  14. My luck I guess, but the replacement upper had the exact same issue. I really couldn't believe it. I've not assembled an upper before but figured now is the time to dive in. Pulled the replacement upper rail off and right off I can see the barrel nut is finger tight. Pulled the gas tube and it's got 4 shims and the gas tube is in the last hole of one section of three. They use an aluminum nut with four sets of three holes for gas tube alignment. Figuring there's no way to tight this up to the next set of holes, I break down the other upper. Gas tube is in the first hole of the three so this looks more promising. It has only one shim. Apparently with the alum nut you're not supposed to put more than about 30 ft.lbs when tightening. Basically hand tight then crank it down to the next mark/hole. Don't have a nut wrench, but thinking 30 ft. is not all that much if I use a pair of channel locks and piece of leather. Seemed to work great. Nut is nice and tight and the wobble is completely gone. I guess they are just trying to turn these out so fast they are not paying much attention to stuff like this. Got it all back together and all that's left is a trip to the range. I did swap out the muzzle brake with the one I got off Amazon. Anxious to see how it works. Will return the replacement upper on Monday. BTW, it measures out to 26.25 inches so I may try a VFG.
  15. I think the bbl nut not being torqued down properly is the issue. I can look down the hand guard wiggle it and see that its the nut moving. Sent a note to DSG this morning and got a quick reply saying they were sending a replacement complete upper out today along with a return tag for my existing one. Got a shipping confirmation a little later. Hard to beat that kind of customer service.
  16. Then check it again in a week and see if you did a good job ;-)
  17. Just got my upper from DSG Arms that I ordered on black Friday. Looks really nice and fits up good to my lower. I actually just finished putting it all together. The issue I'm finding is that the free float handguard/rail seems loose. The torx screws holding the actual rail are tight, but the whole assembly wiggles back and forth pretty easily. Looks like the barrel nut isn't tight enough. I know it has to be timed up with the gas tube, but it just doesn't seem to be very tight at all. Are there supposed to be shims under the nut so that it can be tight and timed?
  18. fired my .357 out the window of my bathroom years ago just to see how loud it would be indoors. only did it once, was damn loud.
  19. I wish I had time to do something like that
  20. (TFA is very much the real deal.  John Harris is just about on a first name basis with very politician at the state capital.) And some if those politicians think of "John" as a four letter word. He....he......he

  22. I wouldn't piss in his mouth if his guts were on fire!
  23. advance auto runs online coupons (do a google search) all the time and you can get 40% or more off. Order it online for instore pickup. did that on the last two batteries I had to buy. so far they gave worked great.
  24. This is exactly what happened in Nigeria, and you can see where that has lead.
  25. Got my shipping notice pistol upper should be here by weeks end. And yes I'm going to put a SIG brace on it regardless of all the brughhaha. I think I'll build it on a Spikes zombie lower in honor of Meryl.
