Moving from Nashville to Lebanon, have a question
seez52 replied to Tedro2022's topic in General Chat
I'm pretty sure that's a requirement for anything NFA. The other thing you may run up against is that if you're planning to move your FFL to a residence and ATF requires a zoning letter you'll have to go before the Board of zoning appeals in Wilson county. They have gotten hard to get along with on such issues. And it can take a while. -
sounds good

does anybody remember when disposable lighters first came out? I had a red one. I remember it as not being cheap like they are today and you could turn up the flame so that it was about 5-6 inches above the lighter.

Walmart Getting Out Of AR and Pistol Accessories
seez52 replied to Moped's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I picked up a mounted pistol light for $19 and a sling for $13. All the similar accessories were marked down, and pretty well picked over. They had a Mossberg tactical shotgun for $329 I believe. Not sure if that's a deal or not. -
there's a good one at Mt. Olivet cemetery sponsored by the local SCV camp. Always have a good crowd and lots of historic characters dressed up. Not so much a ghost tour but interesting history about many Nashville citizens of the past.

I rented a compressor and jack hammer from Nutter when putting in a pole barn. I think the rental was about 75 bucks.

had a friend who's dad had a Pinto with a 455 cubic inch Tornado engine/transaxle mounted in the rear hatch area. Quite a top notch conversion, but I never could figure out why.

you could do the same for those morons that still have Obama bumper stickers. I always have to give them a long stare, just to see what that kind of stupidity looks like.

Did a couple build parties back in the day. Made for a pretty fun weekend. Cranked out about 20 complete guns. I purchased all the needed tools, figured out the best way to make them work, had our build party then sold off the tooling to the next guy. Came out pretty good. Not sure if you cold expect that today as the build fever has died down significantly. Having to deal with new barrel installation is also a bigger pain. We had headspace gauges and other nice items just to make sure everyone was safe. Only had one goof up and it was due to some poor workmanship. Reworked the kit and it turned out fine. We ended up with about $175 in each finished gun, unless you went hog wild with accessories. The Midway kit being already demilled is a benefit. That's a pain to do right off the bat. Requires lots of grinding, pounding and general nastiness.

one of my favorites was a carbide can. Take a quart paint can, put a small hole in the base, throw in several rocks of calcium carbide. Spit on the carbide slap the lid on quickly, lay it on it's side and put your foot on it then hold a lit match to the hole. It would make sound like a cannon and the lid would go flying. Grab the lid and do it again. Eventually the can was so bloated and overworked the can could explode at any point. Never did though. Our ears would ring for days I'm sure. I remember buying the carbide at the local army navy store.

Its a lot of fun, I'm sure you can do it. We did a bunch way back when. The best I ever got to was 10 hours starting with a flat to finish, not including parkerizing. It's a good feeling of accomplishment when you're done, more so than when building an AR. good luck with it.

newest technology for finishing lowers yourself

I think ATF is frowning on a group activity with such a machine these days. Now I don't guess there would be any reason a citizen couldn't buy one, use it all he wants and then when done sell it to someone else and so on. -

most of the ghost sights use a taller front sight than normal. I'm making mine from a vent rib barrel gun and had planned to make the front sight capable of holding a vial of tritium. I've got so many projects going on half done not sure when this one is going to come back up. I've bought a bunch of parts, and there they sit. What did you bend up your base out of?
-
I'd like to make something like that for ghost ring rear sight on an 870 HD I'm working on. Factory ghost ring sights are way expensive.

Remedy (brand name) works good. I use it in my pasture sprayer kills blackberrys in one spraying.

News conference was little more than face time for the politicians. It was a joke.

moving directly from one home to another with both in Mt. Juliet is a tough order to fill in this market. Not saying it can't be done, but it's not as easy as it used to be. I'd skip zillow altogether. They dropped their agreement to carry the local MLS listings directly so their database is short a quarter to a third of all listings in the Middle TN area. Realtracs is your best source. It's based off the same database we use. It still does not differentiate between active listings available for sale and those that are showing active but with contracts pending inspection or financing contingencies. It's not uncommon for a client to send me a list of homes they want to see only to discover most of them are under contract, it can be discouraging. A lot of times in Mt. Juliet we end up looking at homes one at a time rather than 5 or 6 in a trip. It's the new normal.
-
There may be less to look at than you think. If I were to do a search for homes in the $250K range in Mt. Juliet two thirds of them would already be under contract, yet if you look at them on realtor.com they show as still available. It's a quirk of this market and they way agents note contracts in the MLS database.

being a Realtor in Mt. Juliet I can tell you the house is going to sell so be prepared to move. With the market here elbow grease and a little paint is your friend. Appearance items are the most important, I'm not saying cover anything up mind you, but it's got to look good. Let the buyer's inspector drive anything more than cosmetic, unless its a turn off type of repair item. Clean and what won't clean paint, and de-clutter, you're gonna be moving go ahead and pack up anything you don't need right now. Make the closets look roomy. Remove extra furniture if the rooms are tight. It's a great market to sell, kinda tough if you're planning to buy.

When we bought our land it was already on greenbelt. Seeing as I was not planning on farming it I went down to the assessors office to see about taking it off. Didn't want to get into trouble you know. They looked at me like I had two heads. I gave them the scoop they refused to take it off. Said it was either grassland area or for hay production. I said OK and left. Had some other tracts that were side by side. Had been paying about $300/ year each in taxes. Couple years ago I noticed they had combined all the tracts into one and automatically applied the greenbelt. Instantly my tax bill dropped about $700. Its hard to out smart that tax accessor here.
