  1. now $13.99 is the correct price for 22mag. LGS wanted $20 for the same. Guess I'll just continue my quest. I've seen lots of 17 on the shelves.
  2. it ought to be $12-$15 a box, but I'm dreaming now.
  3. I've got a little over a box of CCI, but I've had them for years. Not sure now if I should even shoot them.
  4. Or are we in some sort of Tennessee exclusion zone? Bought a new gun and can't even find a box of ammo for it. Well, I did find one box but refused to buy it. It was priced like premo .308!
  5. I've got a mid 60's AMC set of heads I need to get general machine work done on. Anybody have a recommendation of a good shop that may have experience with older motors? Or just a line on a trusty worth shop that does good work.   thanks
  6. That's where they store their Obama military surplus.
  7. you're a bunch of racist Trump supporters no doubt :stir:
  8. next to the Northern Tools store  :biglol:
  9. ah, yes, The Old Man Tool Store as it's known around here (just look around the next time you're in there).   The flashlights they give away with a coupon are pretty darn good for free and the batteries actually last longer than expected. Anything that has a blade or is expected to cut is junk. Sandpaper not worth bringing home. Car dollies are crap, axle holes in the caster wheels aren't even close to being in the center so they lock up. Bought a vibrator cleaner. Had a bunch of brass to clean and I figured it would crap out before finished so I bough the 2 year replacement warranty thinking I'd get a two for one deal. Dang thing is till going strong and my warranty is just about up!   Engine stand has been good. Angle grinder does not spin fast as it should. Floor jacks eventually leak. Vise grips are crap. O-ring assortment was good, cotter pin assortment was soft as copper. Nitrie gloves are a good value and the ear muffs have been good for $2.   The unfortunate part of all this is that in many cases you can no longer buy anything any better. Even with a supposed good brand it's the same old Chinese crap just marked up a little more.
  10. serial numbers were not required on shotguns prior to 1968
  11. Burris just came out with a rebate for a free Fastfire 3 when you buy one of their magnified red dots. Not a bad deal. I picked up at 3x model for $245. So two pretty decent red dots for that money is a pretty good deal. Amazon had them for a while but are out now. Walmart has them online for $275
  12. I've had this experience several times at auctions in general and gun auctions in particular. Cheap stuff goes high and high end stuff goes cheap or at least fair. Local pawn shop here has been running an annual gun auction to blow out his guns. He buys all year long and holds it til then rather than putting it in the showcase.    Got a note today about an online only gun auction out of cookeville. Starts tomorrow. Lots of cheap junk, guess that's the preferred stuff of Putnam county meth heads. A few nice pieces including one class 3 shotgun. Never paid attention to an online only auction. Might be worth watching.
  13. thanks for all the comments here, I just couldn't bring myself to get the Fluke even though you guys recommended it. I've checked around at some of the pawn shops, I've been watching for a while. Seems they hold their value and most shops aren't too much cheaper than when they run them on special at amazon.   Anyway I did take the recommendation of a Klein. It was $50 and seems to do what I need. So far it's pretty fast to read and I like the way it works. I believe it's a mm400 off the shelf at HD. I don't use one daily or for anything but hobby stuff, I think it's going to work out just fine. thanks to all I hadn't considered a Klein before.
  14. welcome neighbor
  15. Used to use it a lot. Then switched to Unique. Really makes some smoke when using cast boolets and was kinda dirty as I recall. I can still smell the lube!
  16. My old fashioned analog meter finally bit the dust and I need to get another one. I'm wanting a digital one with auto ranging. I know Fluke is top of the line, but also top in price. I've looked at their model 115, but it's $125 and I just have a hard time spending gun money like that!  I don't use one every day probably not even every month but when I need one I want to feel like I can rely on it. I've been try to get by with a cheap harbor freight unit, but its junk not even worth having.    Seems like some of the cheap ones are slow to react and I've not liked that. Any recommendations?
  17. used to shoot at old brake disks, 223 and 308 can punch right through.
  18. maybe they made a decision to increase battery life over brightness since that seems to be a big issue these days?
  19. The stage was pretty neat, and it's impressive they can all that set up and torn down during a half time. The "talent," on the other hand....
  20. all three are peas in the same pod.
  21. at today's prices his tax increase equates to about 30%. All for the elusive "green" energy.
  22. they should have brought her back out to do it again in place of the crummy half time show.
  23. probably got the idea from Haslem.
  24. Raymond Reddington's pistola of choice
  25. OH, and I've always wanted a Colt Walker repo. Got to fondle a genuine one a couple of years ago--- pretty nice!
