  1. I was sad when I read the email. In today's climate I sort of expected it at some point. Spent many hours there over the years. I hope they are able to secure a new site. I have faith in the leadership that they will. I believe I'll go ahead and send my renewal in early.
  2. You have our prayers, peace be with you and your family.
  3. It says this one uses Glock mags or Colt mags. Is this a function of the lower or this particular upper?
  4. PSA has been running this 9mm upper which seems a pretty good deal. But I don't know enough about them. Says it only fits their 9mm lower. I was thinking you could use a standard lower for 9mm if you added a mag adapter? http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-9mm-10-5-carbine-1-10-9-m-lok-lightweight-upper-with-bcg-and-ch.html?trk_msg=UKRUJF02ODM4N0DJBJ5D3V0NJO&trk_contact=UCCBPHR04C0N60JQ1ABRNN8CCG&utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=email&utm_term=http%3a%2f%2fpalmettostatearmory.com%2fpsa-9mm-10-5-carbine-1-10-9-m-lok-lightweight-upper-with-bcg-and-ch.html&utm_campaign=Daily+Deals+Email&utm_content=12%3a00+Email

  8. Half a million pounds is a little much. I just want to pick out a couple of lengths. These would make great mortars. http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/view?id=11425206&tid=GLSPPT5007&utm_campaign=gl - 090916 - ia40528.html - eh&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Eloqua

  10. Every time I get those emails they're out of stock.
  11. Got the magazine, looks great thanks. Up for grabs a new reproduction Garand sling. Canvas in coyote color. Shipped or FTF.
  12. they have also had this extractor issue with the PF9. Mine was awful at loosing the rim about half way out. What was happening is the extractor was bottoming out in the extractor groove so it couldn't get a good bite. I pulled it out and filed some off the inside and made the extractor groove a very slight bit deeper. Since then it's been 100%
  13. nice, buddy of mine had a FN49 it was a great shooting gun
  14. guess the dollar menu will be going to the $5 menu?
  15. excelllent, no rush. I'm still trying to dig up something out of my stash.
  16. not to be too nosy, but what range of expense is there for a hunt at a place like this?
  17. I wonder what kind of insurance program is offered to employees of BCBS?
  18. now to see what I can dig up to post...
  19. I'll take the PF9 Mag if still available.
  20. Had the same trouble with a radical anda sseekins key mod hand guard. They replaced it but I ended up reworking it using both uppers.
  21. I'm thinking the welds will be butt welds and some plug welds. The plug ones probably won't be that hard to do if they get the penetration right. The butt welds on relatively thin material is going to be somewhat of a challenge for inexperienced welders. Not raining on your parade here, but everyone is going to want a nice looking piece when they get done. Maybe there isn't much of that welding that needs to be done? As you stated before this will not be a snap together AR style project. With the build parties I've been involved, AR, AK and 1919, every builder has sort of their own pace so rather than grouping builders you might consider setting up workstations for the different processes.
  22. It did a good job. You had to hold it just right to get the straight in and looking right, the rivets are fairly soft. Sometimes I had to go in with a dremel and grind off a slight amount from the inside to make sure the barrel didn't hang up during insertion. You might check over on the AK files in the classified section. Someone might be selling a tool or might even let your rent/borrow one since you're just doing one gun. There are a couple of different ones out there but I used the bolt cutter style for the front. If you're building an underfolder seems like you have to use it to mash the rear trunion as well. Can't remember for sure. On a standard trunion you'll need a different setup all together, and for the center support, if it's not already installed. I think I bought a set of rivet jaws and got my own Harbor Freight bolt cutters to put them on.
  23. I just glanced over at an article about putting them together and I'm guessing your right, an all day affair. Looks like there are several welds to be made once the flat is bent. Are you expecting each person to weld their own? I'm thinking there was some issue on AK flat bending that required the actual builder or owner of the gun to be the one doing the bending. I'm wondering how welding would be treated in this regard?
  24. I'd be interested. I've not looked into an MP5, didn't know you could build one from a kit. Looked at doing an HK based rifle several years ago but the bending jig never really materialized. Kit builds can be a lot of fun. I've actually hosted a couple of AK build parties back in the day. We always had a great time. It generally took us about 8-10 hours to put an AK together from a flat including demil but not final finish. What kind of time are you thinking for these? I have some of the basic tooling. I sold off all my AK specific tools. Also have a parkerizing set up but have dumped my chemicals.
  25. Wish I still had my rivet smasher you'd be welcome to use it. Those are not hard to put in with the right tool. I sold mine to someone on the forum but can't remember who, maybe they will chime in. Good luck with it.
