  1. True. Makes me curious who makes the decision regarding prices. Store managers, or perhaps some sort of area or zone manager. I have even seen different prices on the same ammo between stores here in Memphis.
  2.       ...and then convincingly say, I found out about this when you did. I saw it on the news...
  3. Aside from the Miami shoot out and the North Hollywood Bank Robbery have there been that many shoot outs where the bad guys used rifles to shoot cops? Maybe I just didn't notice, or I don't remember. I do remember the ATF shooting and killing innocent people at Ruby Ridge, jack booted masked government agents busting into the home of the guardians of Elian Gonzalez just to send him back to Cuba, and also remember watching the ATF bulldozing and setting buildings on fire which contained innocent women and children in Waco. I remember them allowing Mexican Cartels to buy guns illegally here and take them back to Mexico, and one or more of them later to be used to kill U.S Border Patrol agent Brian Terry, but I must have missed something that happened in order for it to justify this administration's attitude towards gun owners in general, but specifically AR-15 owners.
  4. I did some checking at lunch today. the Walmart here in Memphis I went to had tons of 9mm. The Perfecta was $13.97 for box of 50. They did have Federal 9mm 115 grain in aluminum cases for 9.97 per box of 50. The Perfecta .45 ACP was priced at $18.97 per box of 50 as well. Did not see any of the old Federal 100 round boxes we used to get for $19.97. They did have WWB for $26.67 box of 100. They also had a great deal of .223 ammo with some Tula as cheap as $5.97 per box of 20.

  6. I'm sort of the outlier here. I actually prefer to use the smaller primers. Since I don't load any magnum calibers or rifle, the only primers I have to keep in stock are the SPP. I still buy the LPP from time to time just to have them on hand, but I haven't noticed any performance issues using them.
  7. I have been reloading 9mm for a few years now and I have never noticed any problems with my brass. As stated above, most of the trouble associated with reloading Glock brass occurs with the .40s. Unless you intend to shoot lead bullets from your G17, I would not see the necessity for an aftermarket barrel.
  8. Try to relax this weekend, then on Monday go get a copy of the crash report. Insurance information for each party will be listed on the report. You will normally benefit calling your agent and reporting the claim, just in case the driver is not covered. Unlikely but possible. Let your insurance company's claims department guide you to where you need to get estimate and repairs. Then get the claim number and contact number for the other guys insurance company. Call them and see if they are in a position to take care of your loss. Most will set you up with rental, but only while your ride is in the shop. Rental companies will usually also direct bill the insurance company, so your only out of pocket would be extra insurance, or fuel not replaced when you turn it in. If the other company will accept liability and agrees to pay for everything you can contact your guys and ask them to withdraw the claim. Since you are in KY some of the smaller body shops may report to CarFax, most don't except for dealerships, at least here in the West TN area. Most insurance companies do not pay for diminished value (DV) for collision or comprehensive losses, so if you go through your carrier it is unlikely that will be an option unless Junior was uninsured (UM). If so, it can be considered as part of a compensable loss under your policy. Here is the most likely outcome: you get a phone call on Monday from the other guys insurance company. They agree to pay for repairs and your rental. Car is in and out of the shop in less than one week. The repairs are excellent and no CarFax. You have no problems, and life is good. It happens every day. In fact, it is more likely to be your experience. Do bad things still happen? Sure but not as often as it seems. Oh, the possible reason the Gecko couldn't answer your question is in KY you have to be licensed to handle claims, and that can be construed as something as simple as answering claim questions sometimes. Person on the phone probably not licensed by KY. Good luck!
  9.   Much respect to a man who obviously has his priorities in order.
  10. Very nice indeed!

Take a look at that 1991A1 Colt from Grabagun once more. It's right at your price, and for just the additional FFL transfer and TIC fee it can be yours in a matter of days. I bought one from them back in December, and I have shot the snot out of it (99% were my own reloads) with no problems and nothing but good things to say about it. Sure it has some MIM in it, few guns these days don't, but it would be something you'd enjoy shooting at the range, I promise you that. Mine is riding on my hip while I type this...Just saying'..
  12. As I like to say "I'd rather ask forgiveness than permission". My wife likes to say she hates that saying....
  13.  I'd begin with some better quality magazines, like the Wilson Combat or Chip McCormick. I can usually find McCormicks cheaper in my local area and they run just as well as the WC's. I would also suggest trying a different SD round. I've had older guns that didn't always feed 100% with some good ammo like Federal and Hornady usually liked Remington Golden Sabers. Remember some folks will recommend over 500 rounds of ball ammunition before you start trying to feed the JHP.      I also like Tripp Research magazines, but if it does turn out to be a magazine problem you can buy the spring and follower to rebuild your original magazines with the Tripp Research guts. I have an old Kimber mag that I rebuilt and now it is one of my most reliable magazines. Good luck!
  14. Yep it is confusing. Not every Muslim is a terrorist, yet every terrorist cutting off heads, raping women and children, and screaming death to America claims to be a Muslim.
  15. I have owned two holsters from Tommy Theis. Both were shipped out within a week of my order. Overall I was pleased and found them comparable to the CBST type of holster system.    http://theisholsters.com
  16. David, Where is your booth? Would like to stop by and say hello tomorrow. Thanks, Robert
  17. My Lee's Modern Reloading manual shows 147 grain lead start load of 3.3 and top load of 3.5. Lyman's 49th shows only a 147 gr TMJ with 231 loads at 3.5 start and 4.1 do not exceed.    You indicate your loading coated bullets.  One of the companies that sells Hi-Tek coated bullets told me to use the starting lead number and work up.  I have loaded some 115 grain coated and due to the shape of the bullet, I've had to seat mine a little deeper than the minimum recommended depth, so I've backed off the starting number some and still had good results shooting them in my Glock 17.

  19. Wife and I watched it this afternoon. She had seen the previews but had no real idea what the story was about. Suffice it to say, we were the last ones to leave as the credits rolled, she was crying and just needed some time to compose herself. I think Bradley Cooper and Clint Eastwood did a great job of capturing the spirit of the book. I echo what others have already said. This was a very good movie, a great tribute not just to Chris Kyle but to all of those brave souls who go into harms way and live to deal with the demons that can come from seeing the elephant. To any of you who may be veterans, thank you from me and my family for your sacrifice. We are sincerely grateful.
  20. Nice. I look forward to seeing these become available soon.
  21. i have reloaded those, but only as bunny fart loads for my 642.. When I did, I seldom bothered to crimp at all. I would take the completed cartridge and put the bullet face down on a hard surface and try to push it in further. If the bullet did not move back, then I felt I had all the crimp I needed. If you're shooting hot loads and want to avoid set back, you might want more of a crimp than I used. my $.02.
  22. I bought some Federal last week at Wal-Mart and paid around $14.97 for a box of 50 but they were aluminum cased. Shot fine with no problems, but I like to reload so nothing there but trash on the floor when I finished.
