  1. Just curious which RMRs do you have on your pistols? Also, which sights are you running and how well do they co-witness with the dots? I have read some of the MOS guns/red dot combinations don't match up well with some of the suppressor sights. Was this your experience as well?
  2. I can't get it to work for me either. Tried on my desktop Mac as well as my iPad and iPhone. All i get is the swirling circle. When I click on add it to my cart the wheel starts spinning and nothing happens. No option to choose between Paypal or Stripe.
  3. Congratulations. That is very impressive. Thanks for sharing.
  4.   No sir, no problems with the wad cutters. Shooting them out of a government size Colt 1911. I was not sure how they would work when I first got the gun because I've had a few that didn't like them. I had to alter my OAL a little but once I got that worked out, they became my favorite range fodder. I like to use Missouri Bullet Company 200 grain. They are reasonably priced and locally available. I shoot them with Unique, Bullseye, W231, VV N320, as well as some IMR SR 4756. I really like the crisp way they cut the paper.
  5. I've had good luck with Perfecta ammo as well as the Federal Champion FMJ. Both are usually available at Wally World for relatively reasonable prices. That said, I now prefer to roll my own and prefer 200 grain lead semi wad cutters for range use.  Reloading has made shooting .45 ACP almost as affordable as shooting 9mm for me.
  6. My brother in law bought a DW Valor back in March. He could barely hit the broadsides of a barn when he was shooting his striker fired pistols, and while he's no "operator" now, this pistol has made him a much more confident shooter. Compared to my entry level Colt, his is a much nicer gun. Good luck with your new purchase. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I see a lot of this sort of stuff in my line of work. My advice to you would be, always keep your cool. Don't think you have to prove your manhood, no need to escalate things. Sure, he struck your car with his hand and that probably made you mad. Let it go. When you strap on that pistol, you've got to learn to be humble and very forgiving. I probably missed something , but I never got the impression you were in fear of your life in your situation.  As Jonnin pointed out, if your car is close enough that he can touch it, the other guy might have had a real concern about the proximity. Personally, I like to make eye contact with a driver before I'll walk behind a car like that, especially if I have a kid or wife in tow. While it sounds like you did the right thing, just remember there are always two sides to every story.  I'll play devils advocate here. Let's say he gets on TGO when he gets home and posts this:    "Just about had to pull on a guy. I'm still shaking. I have Parkinsons and it's hard to walk straight sometimes. I was in the parking lot at Rural King walking my grandson to the store when this jackass almost backed over us. I slapped the rear of his car to make him stop and he started swearing at me. Words were exchanged and he threatened to get out of the car and whip my ass. I'm pretty sure he had something in the car with him. He seemed all pissed off for no reason. When it was over he squealed off and almost hit two other cars. Started to call the cops but my grandson was already pretty upset. This guy is lucky he didn't try to get out of that car is all I can say. I'd hate to shoot someone over something this stupid especially in front of my grandson."   See how easy it is to make you the bad guy here? It's not worth losing everything financially or otherwise over words in a parking lot. If two guys try to car jack you or rob you in the parking lot, that's a whole other game, but something like you experienced was just simply not worth going to jail or spending every penny you have to defend yourself in court. Glad it turned out okay for you.
  8.   This. It isn't whether or not the program or law is efficient, logical or even Constitutional, it's about how it makes the people passing the law "feel" about themselves when they create these laws. Been that way going all the way back to the War on Poverty. Billions spent and poverty isn't any better than it was when they first began throwing tax money at it.

  11. ^^^^ This.
  12.  I fell for the same marketing deal. Finally let them send me their modem to replace one that I owned that was only two years old. I only did it because they insisted the only way I'd be getting the fastest internet speed was with their modem. It came late on a Friday afternoon and I installed it on a Saturday morning. Of course, there was a problem with the install and I had to call customer service over in Pakistan. She pushed some buttons and viola' I had internet. After changing the passwords on all of my wifi equipment I found out that in the far corner of my house downstairs (where we spend a great deal of our time) there was no wifi signal and we were unable to connect our iPads or even the TV for some of our streaming movies. So i just hooked up my old 8 year old Linksys wireless router and plugged it into the Xfinity modem and now I have coverage again. I've not noticed any increased speed for the internet so like you, I'm on the verge of sending this one back to them. Other than the monthly charge for renting their modem, nothing has changed.
  13.   This, especially since the OP began, 'wife and i have been trying to get in better shape.".... I was expecting something along the lines of "Dear Penthouse, you'll never believe what recently happened to me."   Congrats to the OP for having some old fashioned good clean fun. I was at an arts and crafts show with the wife a few years ago when one of the guys from the local planetarium had a large telescope set up to let people watch a solar eclipse. It was pretty awesome.
  14. Just curious. Who taught your class?
  15. Raoul, Seems like it took about six weeks for mine to arrive. I literally had forgotten about it when it showed up in the mail.
  16. R.I.P    My favorite version of the Thrill is Gone.       YouTube (Short URL)
  17. I just picked up a box of 300 rounds of CCI .22 LRs this morning at the new Bass Pro Shop in the Pyramid downtown. $21 plus tax.
  18. Memphis in May festival started back in the 70's as I recall. Music festival the first weekend, BBQ festival the third weekend of May, thousands of drunks all gathered in one place. Just spitballing here, but my guess is the people young Mandy/Mindy/or whatever her name was trying to make reference to would be local police and politicians not wanting to see anyone carrying guns down there, as you and I both know that always leads to blood running in the street. MPD does a pretty good job with providing security for the immediate area where the events are held but there are usually one or two out of town guests who get robbed each year on the way back to their car or hotel. It does seem like someone got hurt pretty badly a few years ago leaving Beale St. headed back to their hotel.
  19. My question is how can this company claim to lease a park and not be subject to the law? I'm not a lawyer but it seems if the owners of the park, the city of Memphis are not able to ban guns in the park, how can they give a contract to someone else and make it legal? How does a company get the ability to take away individual rights of citizens given to them by the state on city property? I think this is a thin ice legal position that they will lose if it ever goes to court. Someone should file a civil suit in Circuit Court for damages against Memphis in May and the City of Memphis for entering into an illegal contract that bars guns to be carried into the parks. If nothing else, most of the judges would likely grant an injunction against Memphis in May until the matter could be resolved.
  20. Nope. Sounds more like a New York City sort of church policy. Granted, if AC Wharton, Memphis fine mayor had his way, there would be no guns anywhere in the city proper, including church.    My church is full of cops as well as many others who pack heat on Sunday. I've noticed more than one lump under a coat jacket and made a note to make sure mine was less obvious. In this day and age, I think a church full of Christians is a possible target for some nut job or lone wolf Haji, although they are probably one and the same.
  21. Congrats on the new purchase! I've owned numerous Kel-Tec products over the years and found them to be a good bargain. They may require a little more loving out of the box than say a Glock or a Smith and Wesson, but they are produced and sold at a different price point. If you like to tinker a little and fluff and buff them, they will serve you well. Enjoy!
  22. Now that you mention it, I do seem to remember a few bottles of what looked like powder that had been there since before the Civil War. Someone found it for me. It is as you described, stashed back in the corner several months ago when I asked about whether they had any powder or not.  You're right it was some powders I'd never seen or heard of using for handgun reloads. The other thing I noticed was the price on the old lead bullets I mentioned in my other post. I've been watching them for years, and over the years I've bought one or two boxes of 500 lead wadcutters or round nose for .38 and 9mm. They have had them forever, they were originally shipped from West TN Cartridge Company. They have always been $45 bucks for a box of 500. I noticed the other day they have marked up the 200 grain lead semi wad cutters $10 to $55. This is inventory that has been there for "years" yet they continue to mark it up?  Only at G&A....  :screwy:
  23.   I can't help but wonder how many Shield owners will ditch the Shield for the G43? Think you'll keep them both? I had one (Shield) but felt it was sort of an in-betweener. Too big for pocket carry and on the belt it didn't provide as many rounds as slightly larger pistols which were just as easy to carry. Of course they both have the capacity advantage over the old war horse 5 shot revolver most of us have carried at one time or another, plus most folks think 9mm is a little better self defense caliber than .38 special. I must admit all the positive reviews have me curious.
