How did you like the G26? What were the pros and cons for you with that gun? Why did you trade it? If you were using a mag extension, or a larger mag with that gun, you know the G23 isn't that much larger in the grip. On the other hand, you can make the G27 grip longer, but you can't make the G23 shorter.

Need Holster Suggestions - Kel-Tec P3AT
MphsTiger1981 replied to a topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Uncle George's Wallet Holster I don't have personal experience with this holster, but I've read several good reviews on both KTOG and LCP forums. Talon Training Group also sells one similar but theirs is about $20 more. If you do buy one, please do a quick review to let us know how you like it. I've always carried my P3AT and LCP in the front pocket, but I'm giving serious consideration to moving to back pocket carry. -
Gentlemen, if i'm not mistaken, I don't think the SAAMI specifies a .380 round in a +P rating. I believe Buffalo Bore is one of those who has an extremely hot load which they might be advertising as +P, but I'm not sure such an animal currently exists. You're doing the prudent thing to avoid it. Even if it works fine, a steady diet of it might not be good for the long term for your PK380.

You might want to do a quick search over at ElsiePeaForum.com. I'm willing to bet the folks there have experienced the same problem and can make some suggestions. I have a KelTec P3AT (the original LCP) and I know the mag release does extend just a little farther out than I like. I have read where some folks on the KT board have filed theirs down, but to be safe you might want to check with a group from the Ruger folks. I know Wolff makes recoil and mag springs for these little guns, but not sure if they offer a mag release spring or not. Might also be worth checking into. Good luck.

Good show. I didn't see the one last night, but the one earlier in the week, repeat maybe, about the Recon Marines was really good. I liked their motto. "this is gonna suck".

Last time I checked Gunbroker they seemed to be selling around $280 for a blued slide on the low end. You can expect to pay about $25 or $30 more for hard chromed version. Good luck.

I've bought several guns from a local pawn shop in downtown Memphis. In fact, I drop by from time to time just to see what they have taken in. The 15th of the month is when they put stuff out that people have not come in to claim, so usually I stop by a few days before and just ask if they have anything interesting coming out on the 15th. Sort of like buying a used car. The guys I buy from have always been on the up and up. They're always competitive on new guns and now that I've been going in there for a year or so, they recognize me and will deal a little on some of the guns, both new and used. I understand both sides of the issue, but I've been in there enough now that I know them as well as some of the guys at the other local gun shops and feel just as comfortable shopping there. That being said, the folks I've bought from on here are all first rate great guys. I'd always buy here first if I could find what I was looking for.

Two Words: "Fort Hood". -
If you love it, get it if you can afford it. If you buy something else instead, you'll always regret not buying this one. Trust me. Been there, done that.

Thanks Jack.

Nice looking gun. I looked at one Friday over at Guns and Ammo here in Memphis. They had just gotten one in and several people were looking at it. Doubtful it made it to the close of business without getting sold. Nice shooting, too.

Just saw your thread. Welcome to Memphis!

My experience with G&A seems to be a mix of the above. I've had good experiences with some of the staff, and some that left a lot to be desired. The two guys who work over in the revolvers are the best bet for good service on a regular basis. I've bought several guns there over the years as well as a lot of ammo. I have observed some rude behavior towards customers, for what appeared to be no good reason on occasion. None of it had been directed at me, or I would have gone some place else and not gone back. That being said, the folks over at Classic Arms and Arms Fair in Cordova always seem to go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Never witnessed a bad experience at either of those two places. I think G&A has the best prices, but some times I would rather pay just a little bit more for good customer service and friendly attitude as opposed to saving $20 from someone who had their Cheerio's pissed in that morning.

Need so quick advice about this weekend's Gun Show
MphsTiger1981 replied to BigK's topic in Handguns
+1 to Gregintenn. I've had good luck at gun shows selling guns. My BIL has worked them for years and has a booth. I've been fortunate to just sit at his booth with the gun or knife out on the table and they pretty much sell themselves. As has been pointed out, you probably won't get retail for it, but it will beat what the LGS will allow on a trade for another gun. You might consider what you'd pay for the same gun from an individual at the gun show and be willing to move a little in order to get a cash price. You'd be surprised how many folks come to the gun shows looking to pick up a gun like yours. Let us know how it works out for you. -
Ditto. The only one I really miss was my first one, a S&W model 28 with six inch barrel. It was my carry weapon back in the day when deputies had to furnish their own guns. It was a sweet range gun, but a PIA to wear on a Sam Brown for 8 hours or more. Sold it in 1992 to buy a Glock 17.

Don't give up on the G22 just yet. Get some trigger time on it and you'll get better. It just takes practice. Buy the 9mm barrel and G17 mags as someone earlier posted. For less than $150 you've got a 9mm to practice with, and the .40 to carry for SD. You'll still need to shoot some .40, but the trigger time with the 9mm will go a long way towards building your confidence in the gun. You can also buy a .357 Sig barrel to drop in and I think you can even use the G22 mags with that round. The G22 is one of the most versatile pistols you can own. You've made a good purchase, just give yourself some time! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Good to meet you guys Jack, HalfPint and Capbyrd. You guys are some serious gunners. Jack, your wife is like a female Jack Bauer! I would not want to be the guy who ever got her riled up. Didn't get to speak with HalfPint's lady friend, but from the sounds of it, I'd have been in way over my head talking about any sort of guy stuff. She did seem very nice. It was fun meeting everyone and looking at the toys. The kid with the AR was killing me. Can only imagine the noise that would make inside of your house if someone broke in... Seeing Capbyrd's High Point in action, I may have to go buy one just for shooting at the range. Thanks again Jack for setting this up. Next time I'm sure there will be a lot more folks. Looking forward to it. Tiger.

You can also cut up a bicycle inner tube to slip over it and make a poor man's grip sleeve. Check out the instructions from KTrange.com. They show how to make one for Kel-Tecs.
