Great thread. Very informative and thought provoking. I spend a lot of time at the courthouse and Justice Center here in downtown Memphis. Several of us have noticed that the panhandlers are becoming more and more aggressive lately. This is a good reminder for me personally. Thanks for taking the time to share all of this.

Tell him you are originally from Georgia, where you were arrested of a crime, convicted, then served your time and received a full pardon, but now the State of Tennessee won't allow you to own any guns. Seriously, I'd have to go with the truth. Hopefully the guns are being transported in accordance with whatever the IL law requires and its all good. But on the other hand, if I've broken some law in Illinois and get caught doing it, lying about it only makes it worse for me in the long run.

While its somewhat like comparing apples to oranges, some states like Tennessee allow for their citizens to not only own handguns, but certain citizens are allowed to apply for permits for the privilege of carrying them. Other states, while fewer and fewer, do not allow citizens to carry handguns. Does this not seem that the states which do not allow handgun carry are picking and choosing which parts of another state's laws they wish to recognize and honor? If this was true, your HCP from TN would have to be honored in Illinois. I personally think it should be, but even with the "full faith clause" not all of the rights granted to their citizens by one state are recognized by another. I agree with the earlier poster that based upon the 2002 case, it's highly unlikely the State Supreme Court will reverse this one. If its going to be changed, the legislature will have to address it.

I think abolishing the ATF would in fact be a good start. Then the EPA, the Department of Education, Homeland Security, FDA,FCC,.....

I see this as like a mulligan in golf. I used to play a lot and was not bad. I played with a lot of guys who would take a mulligan or two during the course of a round, then they would claim the score after the round was over. Lot of them would shoot in the 80's with the mulligans. I've played in tournaments with them, and when it comes to playing it "down", by the rules, they shoot something like high 90's or even triple digits. My point of my analogy is, the mulligan is a second chance and to pretend the first bad shot never happened. The truth is when the pressure is on, and life gets hard, there are no "mulligans". What has been done whether as a stupid youth, or whatever, there are consequences for making the wrong decisions. We are a nation of laws. Those laws are there to protect us. I understand what the pardon means, but for me personally, if the guy got a pardon in Georgia and just can't live without a gun, it makes reasonable sense to move back to Georgia where they have provided him with his pardon and apparently have no problem with him as a gun owner. Just my .02.

Getting ready for work. Just sold my house and the only thing left in the den was a folding chair and the TV. For some odd reason I had the TV on while getting dressed. I heard the news talking about a small aircraft had hit the WTC. I began watching and was sitting there watching live TV when the 2nd plane hit. I knew at that instant our world had just changed, and not for the better. For what it's worth I was sitting in the American Cafe eating dinner when President Bush gave his address to the nation that night. Politics aside, I've always been extremely proud to be an American, but after his speech you probably could have put a rifle in my hand and shipped me overseas that very night. I'm pretty sure there were a lot of other folks who felt the same way, and some of us still do. God Bless America.

Officer involved works in Auto Theft, and apparently was not wearing his vest according to some news reports. The most recent version is he was in the area when a robbery call came out to a restaurant in this area. Most of the Auto Theft detectives wear plain clothes and don't wear vests under their suits. This comes almost two months to the day the officer was killed in the line downtown answering a man with a gun call the 4th of July weekend.

That is a huge coincidence. The last time I was in Lowe's about two weeks ago, I noticed the same thing. I saw two guys OC'ing who looked like painters. The other guy with them was also packing but his was not as noticeable, as he had a t-shirt pulled over it. This was at the Lowe's on Summer and Perkins. All things considered, probably a good thing to be packin' over in the Berclair area.

I got one this week and it is everything the OP says it is. I've worn it both for iwb and pocket carry. I think it actually works better than the DeSantis Nemesis for pocket carry, just my opinion. I have read many good reviews on other forums by actual users, and now that I own one, I have to say I agree with positive press it has been getting.

Jermaine Owens convicted in kidnapping, robbery, rape of University of Memphis students This story got a lot of attention when it first took place, but I've not heard much about it since then. The good news is the young man and woman had the will to survive such a brutal attack. The bad news is these two kids have got one more trial of the last defendant to go through before this nightmare will begin to be over for them. As a father of two girls just a little older than this girl, I cannot imagine sitting through the details of that night over and over through three different trials. These three thugs were out looking for someone to attack that night like wild animals, and were hell bent on random violence. The death penalty might be too good for them. They have admitted to committing the crime, the victims have identified them and they have been convicted by a jury of their peers. No appeal is needed. Take 'em out to Court Square next Friday at noon and publicly hang all of them by the neck until dead. Leave them there until Sunday at daybreak and then take them out and bury 'em in Potters field. No spending $35,000 per year of tax payer money to support the three of them for the next 90 years.

I owned a Beretta in .22 lr pistol for many years and got good service out of it. It was not the lightest pocket pistol, but it was fun to shoot. Historically, I have read that the .32 acp was used by police and military in Europe, prior to WWII. It worked for Hitler, as that's the caliber he shot himself with. Chances are the police and military of that time were also getting the added benefit of a longer service barrel, likely 4". As JAB pointed out, the .32 JHP is a relatively weak load, not well known for its ability to expand, so FMJ is your best bet in a carry gun. I have a Kel-Tec P32 and I have shot Remington, Winchester as well as Fiocchi, Privi Partizan, and S&B. The S&B is definitely a hotter cartridge than the American made ammo, and is what I use in my P32. It's not cheap, and runs about $22 per box of 50 here in town, but it's also pretty easy to find. Even during the ammo shortage after the '08 election, you could almost always find a box of .32acp on the shelves of the guns stores, and at Wally World. (Right next to the boxes of .40 S&W )

The trigger and trigger guard are a slight problem for some people. Some folks on KTOG have a mod for that where they heated the trigger tip and straightened it enough to eliminate most of the "pinch". Some also did the same thing with the trigger guard using a wooden dowel to increase the overall size of the trigger guard. The reset that someone mentioned is also something that took some adjustment, especially after shooting Glocks for so long and using the short reset on the Glock pistols. You have to shoot the gun pretty much like a double action revolver in order to be accurate and avoid problems. All in all, I think they are worth the money. I've not shot an LC9, but I understand the trigger is a little longer than the PF9. For the OP if you're interested in comparing the two, Hickok45 did a very nice comparison video over on youtube where he shot both of them side by side. It's worth the time to watch. Might help you in your search. And if the TGO memboer in Knoxville wants to sell his for a fair price, I'd buy it if I was you. Even used, they are a good bargain. Just beware of limp wristing these little guns, they are very light weight and shooting the 9mm they need all the energy they can get to work properly. Main thing is to lock the wrists and keep the elbows flexed and allow the recoil to push the gun back into you, and not up and back. Good luck!

A lot of people who own the PF9 say the same thing. One thing you can do to help tame it is to put a grip sleeve on it like a Hogue Handall Jr. It helps to reduce the perceived recoil. As someone else mentioned, I don't think the recoil was nearly as noticeable as my .38 special snubnose, but then again, everyone perceives recoil differently. ymmv.

As a testimony to their customer service, I recently picked up a P32 that someone had traded in. The original owner had kept it in a drawer for two years and shot it just a little. He traded it because the gun kept jamming and he didn't want to bother with having to ship it back for service. After shooting a few mags at the range and experiencing failures to extract, I removed the extractor spring and put a little more bend in it. This reduced the failures from every other shot, to one ever four or five magazines. Having diagnosed the problem, I called KT customer service, explained the problem I was experiencing and asked for a new extractor group. It arrived in the mail two days later at no charge. The new spring, extractor and screw took about five minutes to install. The gun now runs flawlessly. Yes, they are not very expensive guns but then again, there aren't many gun companies who will ship you parts for your gun for free with no questions asked. FWIW, there is also usually a pretty good market for them used as well, if you can find one.

I bought one late last year and got good service out of it. It was extremely reliable. I had purchased it to use as a pocket pistol, but soon found out it was just too big to pocket carry all day long. if I'm going to belt carry a 9mm, I'd rather have a few more rounds in it. All in all, it's still a good bargain at the price. KT warranty and customer service is exceptional.
