Too bad there isnt a date on the ad, about what time period was this? Im guessing early 90's? If so i was about 7 or 8 yrs old and it wouldnt of done me any good if i knew about it anyway. Still pretty awesome, and sad too. Sad because it seems that i missed out on the golden years for firearm enthusiasts

Ran over a Yellow Jacket nest while push mowing today

Dang that sucks man. Ive been attacked by the little hellions like that before when i was about 11 or so. Me and some friends were playing dodgeball. Well i dodged the ball but it turns out yellow jackets arent very good at dodging balls. I cant believe we didnt spot the nest in the ground right next to us. Combined with us kids jumping around beside the nest like kangaroos, and the ball hitting the hole in the ground, we were done for. I think i got hit around 9 or 10 times iirc. Godspeed to you in your battle, make them suffer if you can. -
as stated in the previous thread about these gauging interest. im in for on, would love to have a matched set upper and lower.

I too change hobbies quite often, i dont normally pick up new ones, i alternate between guns, off roading, rc, traveling, motorcycles, and cars mainly. One will start back up and all the others get put on the back burner for awhile. Here in the last few weeks ive gotten the itch for another sports car. But im having to fight that urge because i have a small child and a sports car at this point in my life wouldnt be practical at all. It also never fails every spring/summer i get the motorcycle bug back. I sold mine a couple years back when my daughter was born because it just never got rode anymore. The urge to buy was strong this year though. I dont see myself being able to fight it much longer, especially after my daughter starts pre-k and school ( been looking at street bobs) So yes i know exactly what your talking about.

no hate was detected, i asked for thoughts and opinions. im not gonna build my rifle to other people's specs, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. i just wanted to know what other peoples opinions were on the furniture kit.

add me to the ranks of readers who loved this book. I cant wrap my head around what that man went through and saw. I have uber respect for the man, and hope he is living as happily as someone can after those events.

I cant wait to try it out. If it makes a big difference in control while normal and rapid firing then itll stay. Like i said, just shouldering the rifle now leads me to believe it will be more stable. For me its more about functionality than looks. The way a rifle looks DOES matter to me, but takes a backseat to form and function.

Thanks, i think i have a cleaning rod for it laying around somewhere, i dont think its ever even been there in the rifle. Need to dig it up cause it does look unusual without it there.
-
Im not sure 100% how i feel about it yet, im gonna take it shooting soon and see how i like it then. I may change it out back to the arsenal stuff. It feels alot more comfortable shouldered, but i cant decide if i like the looks yet.

Ive had this furniture set layin around for months and finally got around to installing it on my converted saiga. Im really liking the front grip so far, feels very comfortable shouldered. I went from standard arsenal stock kit to this. Thoughts and opinions?

Thought id bump this up with a couple of pics from today. Had a good time.

I prefer Acids as well. Ive had a desktop humidor for a couple years now. But have let it dry out the last couple months. I have blood pressure problems so i had to cut back big time. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Thompson cigar. They are worse than used car salesman. My experience was they flooded me with emails and magazines, i mean alot. I joined their preferred club back when i was smoking a lot of cigars, so every month they would automatically send me my preferred cigars at a specified time of the month. Like a cigar subscription. Well when i got on bp medicine and decided to cancel my club membership and subscription, they hassled me about it saying "we can just put a 3 month hold on your cigar delivery, blah blah blah. So finally after about 10 mns of me telling them no, they canceled my membership and cigar subscription. Then even after that a rep called me every few days trying to get me back on. I just quit answering the phone and they finally stopped.

Last time i was in there, couple weeks ago i guess, i asked about a sig 716, colt le901, and an acr and they didnt have any of those in stock. I guess they got a shipment of rifles in

Thanks! I think it will look pretty good once painted. I like the idea of the taper pins holding the gas block more than a pair of set screws. I will load up pics of the finished product once completed.
-
Being as i dont like the idea of set screws on gas blocks, but i needed a low profile gas block to put a rifle length handguard on my carbine, i was in a bind. They make the low profile blocks that clamp on, but from the research ive done on them, they have clearance issues with the rail im gonna install. So i went the easy (and cheap) way. I turned my standard a2 style front sight/gas block into a low profile version by cutting the sight posts, sling mount, and bayonet lug off with a dremel and hacksaw. I have to say im really pleases at how it turned out. It was my first time doing this. So here it is after about an hour and a half of work, first i did the cutting of course, then rounded the edges with my bench grinder, then finished it out with a sand wheel on the dremel. Now i just need a good high heat paint.

Dont be fooled by all the pretty guns on the wall. They are the "display guns." They don't sell the displays and RARELY have the nicer ones (colt le901, scar, acr, etc.) in stock. Otherwise a pretty good place. I live about 6 mns away from them, but only go once a month or so. Its a smaller store, and ever since they opened to the public years back, they have shot up in popularity big time, so it gets pretty crowded at times.

Im partial to throwin 'em in my small lodge skillet for a few mns myself. Still looks good!

Glad to see you went with the winchester. I have one i bought last year at TSC. Not a single complaint so far and i open it up almost daily. It is a good fire rated safe at a good price imo. -
All in all it was pretty good, i wont spoil it for those that havent seen it yet but there are a few big surprises
