  1. The Garand Collectors' Assn. will satisfy your membership requirements. Your HCP satisfies your shooting portion of the requirements. You'll just have to show a birth certificate in addition to that and you're good to go.
  2. So they say... How to remove the ILS, with pics, part-numbers & descriptions. - 1911Forum I told Springfield that my Mil-spec wasn't accurate at all (it wasn't, pretty sure it wasn't just me) and they had me send it in. They replaced the barrel, barrel bushing, and did some work on the trigger. The Mil-spec is now dead nuts accurate and has a great trigger on it. I was planning on selling the Mil-spec when I bought this new one but I think I'll keep both! The black stainless looks even better in person than in the pictures, I fell in love at first sight.
  3. Don't hate fatboy! I took her out to the range today, 150rds later I'm pretty impressed. I'm thinking about changing out the Springfield integrated locking system to a standard mainspring housing. Supposedly that will lighten the trigger quite a bit.
  4. They are in Greenbrier, north of Nashville off I65 exit 98. Address is on their website. Metalhead runs their TGO forum, you might PM him with any questions. From their website, Guns and Leather :
  5. There are a few good ones in this area, Hero Gear is a little far away from me but they're good folks. Guns & Leather always treats me right so they get my business. I'd rather have the fixed sights myself, but the black stainless got me hooked. The adjustable ones seem to be sturdy enough.
  6. You're right, I started with a fairly plain 1911 A1 Mil Spec from Springfield, went to Guns & Leather today and this followed me home...
  7. Thanks! They had another brand new one sitting right next to it, better get on over there.
  8. Not sure what happened, saw a good deal on a used Springfield 1911 Black Stainless Target and had to have it. Those guys at Guns & Leather sure know how to dig into my wallet. Range report to follow, soon I hope.
  9. I use these: Revision Eyewear Sawfly Basic Clear Sun Glasses Kit . Love em, they don't fog up at all.

  11. For that price I'd just get a Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 (well, I already got one). Mine runs just fine and is plenty accurate. I bought one with a factory threaded barrel.

Lose $1000 or 1 negative feedback, I know what I'd do.

It was listed 8 minutes ago, I'm sure he'll be along to fix it.
  14. Damn, weapon accessories are almost as bad as computers. I got a Strikefire 3 or 4 months ago and now this!
  15. I like my Vortex Strikefire.
  16. Brick? Hell, my 5" 1911 is much easier to hide than my Glock 23.
  17. +1 for TrueCrypt. Create a TrueCrypt volume, mount it to a drive letter, drop the files you want in that volume.
  18. Welcome from another Bellevue resident. I usually just take the back roads and drive to the Montgomery County range in Southside. It's more or less the same amount of driving time as Stones River but I like the range a lot more.

    I did it...

Nice looking weapon for sure. I hope he didn't get the 9mm one though!
  20. I use a Kramer Leather horsehide IWB.
  21. I've got 124gr Gold Dots in my XDm. I'd go with 124gr +P Gold Dots in the subcompact. I would have went with +P in the XDm but I couldn't find them at the time.
  22. The TWRA range in Montgomery County has a 400yd rifle range.
  23. I want a 642, 442, or 637. I carry a Glock 23 IWB, even the subcompact 27 would be too bulky for pocket carry. The 27 and 642 serve a different purpose IMO, and I don't know that I'd have any use for a 27. When you add a pinky grip to the magazine you don't really gain much in concealability as compared to the compact models.
  24. Cost of ammunition vs 9mm, no significant benefit over a good 9mm JHP round.
