My brother and I both got compound bows a few years back for Christmas. After a few weeks of practice with it I was having a good day and had two arrows hit the target so that they were touching. My brother bet me I couldn't do it again, so I did it again, now three arrows are touching. He said I couldn't do it again, so I did, now four arrows on target, all touching each other. He said I couldn't do it again. The fifth arrow hit one of the original arrows squarely on the nock and bounced directly back toward me so it landed right at my feet, pointing toward the target. When we went to investigate, we found that the nock on the arrow hit was actually forced down inside the arrow that was hit, not broken off to one side. He didn't bet me that I couldn't do it again after that.

Not long ago a friend and I decided to shoot coke cans at 200 yards with his 10-22. I nailed one the first try using kentucky-elevation. After many more rounds of shooting, and bringing out a bench rest we realized that the rifle simply wasn't up to the task of accurately hitting a coke can at repeatedly, my first shot was just complete luck.

You could always try turning it the other way.

I clean my 1911 around every 500 rounds. Keep it oiled and it will run. There's no reason in the world to clean it after every range trip, unless you just like too, or shoot a lot each session.

It has to do with mis-use of the word socialism. The Socialism that is a bad thing is a form of political ideology in which private property is illegal, there is absolutely no free enterprise, the government decides what job you will do, and there are way, way too many parades. Socialism is bad as a whole, that is not to say that any idea that is part of socialism is a bad idea. Public education was mentioned in the Communist Manifesto. So was the political equality of women. The fact that these ideas were held by people whose system as a whole was flawed does not mean that they are inherently without value. If a politician raises taxes on the upper class or promotes government funding for any kind of social program, then they are automatically labeled as a socialist, with all of the negative connotations that word carries with it. It's a way of saying "Since politician x's view on topic y is the same as socialism's view on topic y, politician x is the same as socialism, which we know doesn't work." FDR had many ideas about the common good and the role of government that were analogous to socialism. We needed that kind of thinking then. If FDR had accepted the entire socialist doctrine, then it would have been a completely different story.
