  2. Shooting deaths by Handgun Carry Permit holders represented only 1/10th of 1% of all firearm related deaths over the last 2 years. Anti-gun group tallies killings by permit holders (the group funding this research owned themselves with the data.. but you get the point)
  3. does it have to be remington? Here are some Speers: Speer Jacketed Pistol Bullets. 38/.357"
  4. You can say that again! I stopped by the "Okey Corral" today and all I can say is that Okey is the best! Took the time off his lunch break to show me and Pops the ins and outs of reloading. He has quite a nice setup and couldn't be more accommodating. If the rest of you TGO dudes are as nice and knowledgeable as he is - I'm in good company on this forum. Thanks again Okey!
  5. Not necessary. Just disregard the black sedan out front and the strange new wiring coming off your telephone pole.
  6. As of 4:45pm Bass Pro Shop in Opry Mills has several boxes of Winchester SXZ in .45 and some Golden Saber .45 as well.. also a bunch of .38. . Man that .45 ammo is $$ Academy in Cool Springs also has plenty of Blazer .45 and .38 Hope this helps someone... maybe someone can repay me my selling me or point me to some large pistol primers?
  7. this sounds "fishy" - I think I'm going to have to report this post to the White House.
  8. Good point Fordguy. Thanks for the offer - I'll PM you if I can get up your way.
  9. did you guys have trouble with too much packing grease like FiddleDog?
  10. Thanks for the tips guys - you all are correct (as I know you would be) I found more info it on the Hornady website. Wow $600? Hopefully I can sell it and make a lateral move into a nice autoloading setup for .45acp, .38, and maybe 9mm, What does the best setup for that cost with the dies an everything? any models you can recommend? Is the "lee turret press" high quality? What about Dillon orRCBS?
  11. Hey gang - I have just started researching reloading and it looks like a fun hobby so I'm going to give it a shot. Been reading handloads.com a good bit and some other links. Probably get a good book to read soon. I found this press tucked away in my Dad's garage.. I pulled it out to take a look closer. He said he acquired it from an old friend who was moving out west and wanted to get rid of it and a bunch of other tools. It looks to be setup for Shotgun.. I would really like to begin reloading in .45 ACP and .38 but I have no idea if this is a good tool or would even work for my purposes. It looks like it has some surface rust on it.. I hope this can be put back in good working order if it will suit my needs.. its a heavy bugger! But the handle goes up and down and everything moves smoothly.. It says DL-366 with the make being Pacific. Google tells me that its made by Pacific Tool Company, which later became Hornady, but that's about all I know. Hopefully some of you Reloading pros can tell me a little more about this piece of equipment and whether this will work for me or not. Do I have a nice reloading tool or a giant paperweight?
  12. I asked for .45 or .38 at the Cool Springs WM today.. guy just laughed at me. He said the last truckload was all of 2 boxes. Lasted about as many minutes.
  13. FYI, I applied on Friday for my HCP and they took my Debit Card.
  14. Ive got some Gunslick Nitro Solvent & Gun Oil.. would that be good enough? Not familiar with Break Free..
  15. UPDATE: (for those who care) Well, I went to the DMV today to submit my application for my HCP. over an hour wait! Holy cow.. note to file: dont go to the DMV the day before school starts... anyway, I went and did my fingerprints shortly therafter and I guess Im all set. Now I get to wait. Good thing is.. I pick up my EDC gun on Wednesday! now to find the holy grail: cheap plinking .45 ammo!

  17. Ive got news for "Nuvo Burrito". Its the Burritos we should be worried about. They ARE dangerous.
  18. what about online gun purchases.. anything I need to know? Any experiences with GunDealerOnline, Midwest Hunters Outlet, or Able's?
  19. anyone know of a good place to find one?
  20. Well, after an exhaustive search for a good EDC gun, I think Ive settled on the Taurus 145. Its the caliber I want and it seems to be the best mix of size, weight, reliability, capacity and value that Ive seen out there. The 3rd gen guns that are out now just get rave reviews from what I can tell. I would really like to handle one, but I called around to a few gun stores in town and they seem to be out. I also considered the XD, G36, and the Kimber Ultra. I have noticed a few 145's for sale online in the $360 range, which seems great, but I've never purchased a gun online and am not sure of the pitfalls. I guess I would rather purchase one locally if possible, but I'm not sure of the best places to look. Does anyone have any insight on this particular gun and if so, where did you get yours?
  21. I think one report say "43 wounds".. counting entry and exit woulds as two different wounds - possibly, resulting in closer to 22 shots fired (probably more thought). Thats 3-4 shots minimum per cop it they were all hits... just saying. Best to not formulate opinions until the facts are all together.
  22. go for it. .. here ill post another to motivate you!
  23. Chattanooga Times Free Press | Chattanooga: Police shooting victim struck 43 times stun gun first?
