  1. Absolutely. In an office environment, I couldnt find anything more concealable for my .45
  2. I actually found a cache in Savannah GA by accident once.. does that count?
  3. ok.. ill look into that.. do i need to wait for spring or can I start prepping the creek now? what about planting?
  4. funny you shoud say that sharpshooter... I was looking at some other photos.. and it looks like there is an old creekbed or game trail that already cuts east/west through the tree line. That might give a nice vantage point of both fields. Ya think?
  5. man.. I hope this doesnt go bad for you. might be time to smart carry.
  6. hmm.. I might be able to get up a stand in near the creek to hit both fields.. not sure though. trees get pretty thick in there. I was thinking about shooting from the barn as well.
  7. hmm. I think they are.. they are pretty old and tall! (Im no expert.. can you tell? ). Here is a pic from the North field looking south Most of the surrounding land is pretty empty.. .I'll try and call around and ask the owners about tracking deer on their land. Thanks.
  8. I asked earlier and some of the pros in this forum said that 15 acres was plenty to hunt deer on.. I thought it was really small, but I am taking y'alls word for it. Now I need to begin spending time on the land, watching and making a plan for gun season. Here is a topo map of the land. The main field to the West has an old barn on it.. the tree line that runs top to bottom has a nice spring fed creek running through it and its pretty much forest all the way up to the hill on the south side with one small field on the eastern border. I have seen Does munching in the that field before.. Any tips on where to start?
  9. yea.. so did the Yeti.
  10. I once killed a Yeti with my three wolf T shirt.
  11. Sawyer says they can go up to 3,000 gallons w/o needing to be backwashed, but that is obviously based on the quality of the water. Some basic pre-filtering can extend backwashing needs in the field but they say something simple like a cotton cloth is all that's needed.
  12. Whats the holdup David? Here is something to pass the time till your next visit to the range:
  13. I have a feeling my $60 brass catcher is A LOT cheaper than your 13 year old! Probably not as versatile though...
  14. You find one that is as versatile any cheaper! I like to shoot many difrerent ways; Prone, from a bench, different distances.. didnt like the butterfly net idea or have to stand near a larger catcher. My brass ejects at different angles, and this one covers them all. Plus it should travel well and work in almost any shooting circumstance. I also like knowing I am contributing to an American artisan
  15. Well - I ordered an Akuna brass catcher last week and it arrived today! I am pleased with the workmanship.. its fits my MillPro .45 very well, and I'm sure any gun with a rail or weaver mount would work well. I just got tired of picking up my brass, ya know? Especially if the ground is wet or others are waiting to shoot. This thing is feather-light and doesn't obstruct the sight picture. Should make things very convenient. Sherwood (the builder) was very communicative and was able to make the Catcher to suit my gun. I took some pics of it installed... I'll try to head out to Owl Hollow tomorrow and give it a spin and report back. Here is a video it at work (not my gun)
  16. on sunny days or track days '95 Twin Turbo Z
  17. I dont think you can be civilly sued by the perp in TN if you were defending yourself or family from serious bodily harm or death (re Castle Doctrine). Maybe by bystanders hit with stray bullets...
  18. Look on the bright side.. It couldve been worse: Negligent Discharge (warning: kinda gross, but not too bad.) $22,000 surgeons bill? Ouch. I'll take the dead comforter, thank you.
  19. UPDATE - just purchased a Sawyer® Point Zero Two Inline Water Purifier. This filter outperforms most others on the market in that in addition to filtering Bacteria and Protozoa, it also filters waterborne viruses like Hepatitis, Rotavirus, Coronavirus (SARS) and more. Weighing only 6oz and being able to filter up to 3000 gallons - I think this will make a nice addition to the BOB. You can see this little filter can be used multiple ways: Hook up to a faucet, use the included 34oz Polycarbonate bottle, or attach to a hydration pack or gravity bag.
  20. get used to this
  21. RIP microfiber comforter.
